In the summer of 2023, a man in a wheelchair approached Labor skate shop looking to donate a bag of artifacts. You’ll never believe what was in the bag. Thanks to James & Diego laborskateshop...
Exact same thought. I once saw Spike in disguise in Washington Square park recreating his icon Beastie Boys photo under the Arch but it was him taking a selfie with his Dog.
YES!!! A new Same Old coming through. Made my shitty day way better. Lately, I've been looking for tgat photo of Mark from the poster I had on my wall where he's blasting over the construction horse and wearing the "Dork Taste The Sensation" shirt, which I had both, the poster and the shirt.
How freaking awesome is that?! I wanna know who the dude in the wheelchair was, and why he inexplicably just got rid of that history. Natas posters 🔥🔥🔥
That’s Chico Brenes in the World ad, not Gabriel Rodriguez. I remember seeing something saying that mystery person is Cara Beth Burnside, but that doesn’t make much sense. This is such an insane cache of Golden Era Spike photos/ephemera… and handed over randomly and for free makes it all the more crazy. Stoked!
Wow this is amazing. Yes that’s a Spike photo of Jamal Livingroom Johnston Simmons. I can’t wait until you figure out exactly who this stuff belonged to.
It was most likely spikes brother who gave him the box. I work in the area and I’ve seen spike pushing his brother around in a wheel chair due to an injury. His brother is also a photographer.
Let me be a little more specific…I saw spike pushing his brother in a wheel chair around the time that this video may have been filmed because labor hadn’t been renovated yet. I also believe his brother lives in the neighborhood.
PHENOMENAL tales 🙌 Looks like a pirate collection of someone who worked at Big Brother. Experienced a similar sitch- some posters appeared of my shots that were pilfered by a lab technician at Bay Photo Lab in the 80's.
The real first Big Brother (it was free at skateshops) had Shiloh Greathouse doing a blindside Ollie to fakie over a hipped quarter pipe. It was super small like a zine and had an article featuring Natas and (I believe) Marc McKee going to Disneyland to get ideas for graphics.
Phelper was cool, i was skating down the street in SF and he threw a Thrasher SOTY shirt at me. Had Ishod on it. Saw him completely passed out on the bus once too😮
I've still got my big brother magazines. That one had Rick ibeseta on cover. I could be wrong but didn't first issue come in a cereal box. I don't think I got it. I think the third issue was rectangular lengthways with ring bindings. I could be wrong, I haven't looked for ages. Had Daewon on cover doing some crook on bank to kerb that I forget name of. I had extensive mag collection that did include boxes of Thrashers going back to I think 84. I was moving around a lot 20 to 25 years ago so I gave a lot to my friends who at time were running one of the British skate mags. Mainly the old Thrashers. I kept many great issues though including all the first slap mags.
The Tim Gavin Frosted Penis Pops cereal box issue was Big Brother number six and the first one I bought at a shop (I was 14/15). Such an amazing gimmick. I kept the Foundation condom in my wallet all summer long in the off chance I was gonna need it with my girlfriend at the time. Hahaha. No luck.
That is cool you talk about the Billy Waldman story, few know about that. It's such a rad graphic. I was pretty blown away when I found out it wasn't Blender's. I loved Club Home Boy magazine as a kid. Great score.
Theres an interesting old video on TH-cam called "Mondo Vision :A day with Andy Takakjian". He's the artist who drew all (or most) of the classic Vision graphics. He's got a pair of Vision high tops hand painted by Mark Gonzales that Mark just left on his desk. I love how Mark just leaves a trail of art and wonder wherever he goes. Cheers
These are Spikes!! Has his mom's name Sandra Granzow on the shipping label of the magazines. Wouldn't be surprised if he left them at Mark's studio just a half block from Labor and they got left/lost in a move or something.
Cool to see that Wrench Pilot comic again. I used it as the cover of a sociology term paper in college about skateboarding and social space. Please thank Andy for me if you see him.
Bobby, thrasher just put out a piece on the Brooklyn banks, it made me think how awesome of a deep dive video you could make talking about it. They even showed your half cab flip on the bank.
You have a nostalgic feel that pulls viewers into the media that you profile and describe with enthusiasm in your videos. Basically you make all the products, old stories, and the assorted media seem really cool and I'm like, "I want some of THAT!".
Love u Bob, n w/ that I say Spike is Like John Stewart, Gene Simmons, and a slew of others as they are the few in Holly Tree Wood where that isn’t there real names hiding their heritage.
gonz is the goated goat. nobody embodies skating like Mark. Right up there if not surpassing Rodney, Tony, Jay Adams, Alva, etc. Mark Gonzales 4 ever. I didn't even start skating until '01 and his influence is still incredible. Just in the last year he's been posting clips of switch tre flips, on his huge giant boards. Such a legend
At 14:33 the person is the infamous legend Saecha Clarke. The first female documented skating a handrail. I believe Her and Shiloh Greathouse got married.
i bet the dude in the wheelchair was Spike in disguise.
Was thinking the same!
One hundred percent the case. Spent the whole time watching the video assuming that was gonna be the reveal
Exact same thought. I once saw Spike in disguise in Washington Square park recreating his icon Beastie Boys photo under the Arch but it was him taking a selfie with his Dog.
Nah it’s the guy who owned the world warehouse. When he sold the building these items were found in one of the basements, lost to history.
YES!!! A new Same Old coming through. Made my shitty day way better.
Lately, I've been looking for tgat photo of Mark from the poster I had on my wall where he's blasting over the construction horse and wearing the "Dork Taste The Sensation" shirt, which I had both, the poster and the shirt.
Had that on me wall as well 😊
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing ❤
thats insane to have jonze prints. one of a kind and priceless.
Bobby is the man, so much knowledge of skateboarding history!!
Love it! your doing a great service to skateboarding helping us see all this stuff
How freaking awesome is that?! I wanna know who the dude in the wheelchair was, and why he inexplicably just got rid of that history. Natas posters 🔥🔥🔥
Dude, what an incredible collection. This was awesome.
That’s Chico Brenes in the World ad, not Gabriel Rodriguez. I remember seeing something saying that mystery person is Cara Beth Burnside, but that doesn’t make much sense. Wrench Pilot and Club Homeboy brings back some memories. BMX
Dude. I was waiting for the mind blowing identity of the mystery wheel chair man to be revealed the entire episode....whaaaaaaa
It was most likely spikes brother who gave him the box. I work in the area and I’ve seen spike pushing his brother around in a wheel chair due to an injury. His brother is also a photographer.

Great stuff as always Bobby! 🍻👊🏼

I really enjoy these Bobby. Thanks
another juicy historic ep, thanks
Perhaps the person that gave this material worked in print production, or as a graphic designer/art director specializing in magazine layout
Sascha Clark in the World add.
was gonna comment that too!
papa ross with the bgps right out of the gate
Holy Crap! What a gold strike.
Phelper was cool, i was skating down the street in SF and he threw a Thrasher SOTY shirt at me. Had Ishod on it. Saw him completely passed out on the bus once too😮
Nodding off. Binder Dundatt.
Blacklisted Danny Gonzalez. Yeah, really "cool." 🖕

@tonyhawk shot reversed as well
thass dolp yoo
Vision always had the sickest ads. And the made the worst products.
This was great! I think it’s Saecha Clark in the Ad. When I interviewed Karl Watson he said it was Cara Beth Burnside though. But I think it’s Saecha
Yep. I also think that is Saecha
Yes its Saecha I don't remember who just posted about her and that was one of the pics , Clyde Singleton I think posted some Saecha photos maybe
Who’s address is on the subscription label, it’d be interesting to know how and why they had the Spike prints etc, perhaps a relative?
Thanks for sharing this with us, Bobby.
That is cool you talk about the Billy Waldman story, few know about that. It's such a rad graphic. I was pretty blown away when I found out it wasn't Blender's. I loved Club Home Boy magazine as a kid. Great score.
“I hate reggae music. I hate it.” - Billy Waldman
As always, so epic to see some of these random artifacts pop up out of nowhere. Love this shit Bobby!
Pressing the play button for this video feels like opening a birthday present! Thank you Same Old!❤❤❤

Awesome ! It's Saecha Clarke in the World picture
Transworld was such a great mag in the late 80s early 90s.
Can’t believe the condition of those magazines, tunnel of love cover is very special remember when it came out. Thanks Bobby
yes!!!!!
My heart was racing when you pulled the stuff out of the bag. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. It didn’t disappoint.
Thanks Bobby!!
another banger Bobby, thanks!
Amazing stuff. I don’t think everyone realizes how influential and outside the box spikes photos were.
Neil did the lattice and handed it over to a girl at g&s cause he felt like he couldn’t finish it
Theres an interesting old video on TH-cam called "Mondo Vision :A day with Andy Takakjian". He's the artist who drew all (or most) of the classic Vision graphics. It was 100% Saecha Clark who I'm pretty sure is married or just in a serious relationship with Shiloh Greathouse.
We used to have loose ball bearings and had to skate barefoot
These are Spikes!! Has his mom's name Sandra Granzow on the shipping label of the magazines. Wouldn't be surprised if he left them at Mark's studio just a half block from Labor and they got left/lost in a move or something.
Good eye I was thinking they just had to come by way of GONZ in some form or fashion
fantastic work!
drooling over that BB #2 test print ! !! well done, Bobby!
I bet this stuff was sitting in Gonz's studio and he put the wheelchair guy up to giving it all to the shop..
Saecha Clarke in the World ad. First girl to boardslide a handrail. Worked with her for many years.
Wasn’t the mall in Video Days the Redondo Galleria?
Why didnt they get the mans phone number. It would be interesting to find out how he got the items .
Cool to see that Wrench Pilot comic again. I used it as the cover of a sociology term paper in college about skateboarding and social space. Please thank Andy for me if you see him.
Wow, what an unbelievable story. The memories from those photographs is surreal
We must find wheel chair man.
Can't believe they didn't get his contact details
My first Board was a Neil Blender Snake and Lattice with tracker trucks
great content.... can't wait for next installment.
I always click on the Bobby vids so fast
I probably read that Big Brother a million times back when I got it.

Transworld had the best photos
The picture with Gonz with his hand out was in a magazine it looks familiar
Damn!! I have an eight ball clothing shirt I never understood what it was. So sick it was started by the same dudes that did droors & DC
isn't cara beth burnside the missing person in the world ad? probably not though given bobshirt's commentary
really? wow
i assumed it was her from the Bobshirt Karl Watson iinterview.just saw bobshirt's commentary.
That Mario cover!
Earthless!
Shout out Brent fellows and Tom Knox Visalia Legends
Love u Bob, n w/ that I say Spike is Like John Stewart, Gene Simmons, and a slew of others as they are the few in Holly Tree Wood where that isn’t there real names hiding their heritage.
Old school dude pronouncing Mike Vs name incorrectly is unforgivable haha
it's prononced "%ssh^le" Mike A hole
Safe to say Spike got dressed up as an old man, again 🤔
incredibly cool

Incredible!

gonz is the goated goat. nobody embodies skating like Mark. Right up there if not surpassing Rodney, Tony, Jay Adams, Alva, etc. Mark Gonzales 4 ever. Lucky day! Thx for all the explanations!
So good. Thank you! Shoutout Diego too, always cool to me at Labor
At 14:33 the person is the infamous legend Saecha Clarke. The first female documented skating a handrail. I believe Her and Shiloh Greathouse got married.

Amazing content as always🙌🙌
Wow how does kid get to work at labor. Didn't even think to ask who they were. I bet it was spike in disguise for sure.
