In “What Is The Most Famous Kickflip Ever Done?! Ryan Sheckler & Dave Bachinsky” we sit down with about 20 Professional Skateboarders to ask their opinion on what the most well-known kickflip to mankind is. To be clear, the question is not the biggest, fastest, craziest, gnarliest, highest, longest, slowest…it’s the most “famous”. At the conclusion of our investigation, we narrowed it down to a top two and got the responsible parties in a room together, to talk kickflips! Ryan Sheckler and Dave Bachinsky sit down in San Clemente, California at The Sandlot Times HQ, to talk us through their iconic kickflips at El Toro 20 stair and Costco Gap. Although both skaters went on to have incredible careers, these legendary kickflips etched their names into the history of skateboarding forever. So what are your thoughts, did they get it right?! Did they miss any? Interviewees seen in the episode include; Paul”Prod” Rodriguez, Torey Pudwill, Jamie Thomas, Nyjah Huston, Jamie Foy, Jeremy Wray, Stefan Janoski, Billy Marks, Tim O’Connor, Chris Cole, Pat Duffy, Ryan Decenzo, Sean Malto, Mark Appleyard, Geoff Rowley, Colin Mckay, Chris Joslin, Ricki Bedenbaugh and more. Limited Edition Autographed Most Famous Kickflip plaques are available now at www.storiedskateboarding.com - signed by both Dave and Ryan.

That Decenzo double set kickflip is ridiculously underrated
It’s nuts
If they did top three kickflips that would be number three.
On new years eve no less.. Decenzo hucks
Agreed!!!!
It totally is but el toro seems bigger. I’ve been to both. I can’t confirm which is bigger but el Toro seems impossible to do anything but Ollie
I love the humility and mutual respect shown here.
🙏🙏🙏
That's what makes this series so awesome.
Best line: El Costco... you ask for the bull, you get it in bulk! 😂😂😅
The best!
I fucking laughed so hard!
And no one ever tried to skate Costco again 💀
@@George-um2vc It's an ugly looking gap and no one goes there 😂
The nostalgia hit of these are so nice. RIP all the old skating homies that didn't make it. We remember you.
🙌💪
RIP Ben Pappas. 🙏
Yeah bro well said
Mad thing is Bachinsky is known more for tech skating, crazy mini ramp flip in flip out combos etc but he also did one of the biggest kickflips of all time
Yup!
Almost surprised he didn't Hardflip it right after
Watch his nor’easter part. He had no chill back in the day and sent!
I’ve always thought the same thing. His kickflip made him famous, so when I would search around for clips and stuff I was always surprised to see miniramp and flip in flip out stuff. Makes it even more impressive. Especially since it was on a 7.5 board. One of the most underrated for sure. Even after all the credit he gets for el toro.
the thing is that back then, he was the same kind of skater as Jaws was a bit later, believe it or not. He was doing basic tricks down the biggest drops anyone had skated at that moment.
The videographer, Ricki Bedenbaugh, was at both and he's giving it to Sheckler... I gotta agree with that!
🙌🙌🙌
Nah… El Toro is the spot that everyone knows.
@@johnz85Costco might be gnarlier than el toro…There’s a reason Shecks is the only guy to step to it.
@@user-kt1re4eq1m it is gnarlier, 6 feet higher and over a fence.
@@johnz85 just an ugly set of stairs and it’s smaller. More forgettable imo
I love this series so much! And let’s give a shout out to Milton’s car wash kickflip!
We can’t believe nobody called that one out!
maybe its too recent and this generation just takes it in for a minute and on to the next. Kinda ruining longevity@@storied_skateboarding
It's fucking buck but I don't think people really see it as gnarly (even though it is) because it's not visually as massive.
That car wash kickflip has to be the scariest of all time.
@@wiggztvit look massive
Sheckler at the Costco. Still one of the sickest tricks to this day.
💪💪💪
Shecklers is the gnarliest imo but Dave’s was the most impactful
Shecks caught it tweaked too. It had style for such a big drop.
agreed. The gnar from the danger of having to go over that fence first and maybe clipping it and flipping heels over head...crazy to think about worst case scenario there. But still both are crazy kickflips.@@mrburns805
@@mrburns805Literally lol That impact sounded hard asf!!
Sheckler’s kickflip is the most memorable for me. Hats off to Dave Bachinsky and especially Ryan Decenzo because those dudes still put it down like it’s nothing! Mad respect
🙏🙏🙌
Bachinsky rode from nowhere into the history books in a day. What a badass story. For that reason I give it to him.
Yup!
That little bit of conversation at the end between those two about getting older and using each other as motivation to still huck big stuff was super rad. They’re both still willing to go hard but they need some help. Most guys that get older don’t want that smoke, myself included. Concrete only gets harder the older you get.
Pretty sick!
That ending was perfect
"You jump I'll follow you"
"Bet"
🙌🙌🙌
The best Kick flip is Ryan Sheckler!!
All of his styles are No.1
Iconic!
Something about the speed of that el toro kickflip and the way he the overhead camera angle shows him catching the board makes the look of that kickflip unbeatable to me.
but overall the Costco gap kickflip is insane if only for the fact that almost no one else has even gone back to fuck with it.
also I love the way these guys talk to eachother. so much respect man. Sheckler's right the next greatest is coming down the line!
So iconic
people dont want to skate a spot that is a glorified loading dock and big drop. just doesnt appeal to most people or look that great. bachinsky was going as fast as one can go on a skateboard to flip el toro, sheckler was just cruising at a medium speed because its only 5 feet to clear compared to el toros 20.
@@sharongreffin1715 that’s funny I feel exactly opposite, when I saw shecklers kick flip about 10 years ago and didn’t care about skating it was memorable, massive and gnarly going over a fence. It’s more unique than another set of ugly stairs being jumped down, stairs are everywhere, nothing interesting about that set. I may have seen bachinskis too but would’ve been forgettable. Ryan seriously pushed the limits of the size of drops doing that, as well his was way cleaner and 6 feet higher. Says a lot that sheckler himself nearly backside flipped el toro as to what is objectively more impressive.
The way Dave landed it looked sick too
yes he pushed the limits of drops aka loading docks and its not 6 feet higher. there is literally evidence right on video showing that: measuring at an angle, holding tape a foot above fence, and him adding a foot just for fun. also i wouldnt say he nearly bs flipped el toro as the closest attempt he had was him doing the splits. joslin almost tre flipped it thats fair to say, sheckler nope. maybe if el toro was a big drop with nothing to clear he would have landed it.@@saturnvi5421
So much nostalgia watching these kickflips, shecks at costco was and still best kickflip ever im my opinion
!!!
the BEST new skate channel that gives in depth opinion and history. THANKYOU CHASE!!!
Thank you!
"someone somewhere is plotting the next kickflip to rule them all"
this is gnarly to think about and i wonder who it is and when they're going to show up. looking forward to this.
True!!!
I think it will take a downhill landing for anyone to do anything bigger than shecklers. It’s pushing the point of what’s gonna break a board and someone’s body
Lyon 25?
Nah I'm playin. Maybe when humans get cyborg legs.
@@ShmoopShmooplydamn, I mean jaws made it down even tho he did melon he still made it down, it’s possible…
kickflip the Lyon 25
Used to watch that Reynolds flip at the end of his part in Feedback 'till VHS stretched... Anyhooo.. Solid channel/ content and all that proverbial jazz. Word up from Cape Town, South Africa
So sick
Dude. They were literally both the most famous. Growing up. This has me hooked for a couple years.
!!!
Just found this TH-cam channel and this is exactly what I've been looking for, documentary style videos with skate legends giving eachother their flowers for crazy tricks. Keep doing this!
Awesome, thank you!
Love these videos! Both kick flips are so gnarly!
I love how at the end they talk about skating something big together; and Ryan's totally right that there's gonna be someone someday who takes it to the next level!
Thank you!!
Love this series 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you!
Man I love how these guys respect each other so much.
🙌🙌
i'm just really glad you put them both in this one video. always looking forward for your next videos!
Glad you like them!
Chase my man, I'm a fan of your work since previous company. Keep on doing this kind of content, love it💪👍
I appreciate that!
awesome video! glad to see the Gonz's kickflip was included! definitely was very important for the time!
Glad you liked it!
This video is bringing me back! Ty for the video
Glad you like it!
By far one of the best Episodes 🙏🫡
Ryan & Dave,
Thank you 🙏
🙏🙏🙏
Without Rodney Mullen, none of us would be watching this video
💯
Someone woulda figured it out
@@gabedepina9331but then we’d be watching a different video.
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels
🤝
every one of these videos are absolute bangers. thank you for these insights and looks back on iconic moments like these.
Glad you like them!
Love these. I always watch them from start to finish.
Thank you!
Man you find a way to sneak literally all of my favorite skaters from my greatest skate years in your videos. I love that shit. I can't believe we're getting old.
😎🤝
What’s even more iconic and more historic is both of these were shot on the iconic vx1000
And both were filmed by the same person
Yup!!! Wild
love these vids!! keep em coming!!
Thanks!
fantastic series. excited for more.
More to come!
Billy’s answer 😂 that was a huge kickflip though that’s kinda forgotten.
Hahaha
I remember buying that issue of thrasher after Ride the Sky came out.
amazing video. el toro es el toro. but that costco gap its something else. cant make my mind.
Thank you!
Thanks for all these great videos. I always enjoy them. 😍✌🏻
Glad you like them!
Excellent content. I share these with a young skater in town and he loves learning about the history. I'm stoked to hear these legends speak and show how its done, the sk8 way.
🙏🙏🙏
Bachinsky's El Toro is the most iconic, but Sheckler's Costco is more gnarlier. both are fkn sick.
💯
Ryan Decenzo kickflip the double set at echo park my favorite
Insane one
This was great! Thank you for hosting the video.
Glad you dig it!
I enjoy these videos so much!!! All the kick flips in this video are extremely important to skateboarding 🧡
Glad you like them!
Gotta be CostCo
5ft taller than El Toro??? Insane
Nuts
its not. he measured incorrectly at an angle, added a foot as you can see hes holding it a foot over the fence, and then on top of that added another foot for pop. dont know why he has to do things like that but then again he said he bs flipped el toro when he got murdered by el toro weird
@@sharongreffin1715literally anyone can measure it. There’s no reason to lie. And in what world did he get murdered by El Toro.
@@sharongreffin1715 regardless it’s bigger than el toro lmao
And he claimed it before even trying it because he was put on the spot and wanted to impress one of the greats in skateboarding.
I don’t think he was wrong for having the confidence to claim that he did bs flip el toro considering he was at his peak and if anyone was going to bs flip el toro, everyone would’ve agreed that it would’ve been Sheckler. Unfortunately injuries are unavoidable, it’s skateboarding. I don’t know why you’re so salty about everything.
sheckler is the same guy who lied about bs flipping el toro. there is no reason but he did it. he got murdered by el toro trying to bs flip it. and you can see on video they arent measuring it right, you can see hes holding it a foot above the fence so its not accurate. maybe hes not lying but just really poor at measuring things? @@selfawarepotassium
Dave had more impact opening the gates of El Toro
What I like about Ryan's is that because of the traffic for the run up, you have more pressure.
My personal is Gonz with his mobbed kickflip
So iconic
Best Skateboarding videos on the platform. Your work is incredible, truly.
Wow, thanks!
No mention of Enzo Cautela's kickflip down that massive 20? You can see the footage in his KOTR intro. That's gotta be the most underrated.
My favorite is Sheckler's Costco and Nuge's out to the street.
Next vid!
@storied_skateboarding so you're saying there's more?! I'd love an extended with all the other kickflips people bring up and any chance to chat at the people who hucked. This video got me so fucking stoked.
@@storied_skateboardingplease cover his Hardflip down the 20 in Panda patrol
7.5 skaters where you at!! small feet gang
Stand up!
This video was sooo good. Enjoyed every second of it :D
🤘🤘🤘
As an official “old guy” who grew up in skateboarding, one of my favorite things of this current era is the renewed interest and respect for what came before. Same thing happened a little bit in the late 90’s early 00’s.
Super cool to see younger dudes giving props to the eras they came up watching. Love and props all around.
🙏🙏🙏
I’ll say costco just because thats the only reason we know that spot. That’s just a random Costco without Sheckler because nobody ever went back
Epic one
Shecks the style! But el toro crazy!
🙌🙌
el toro kickflip was so stomped definitely most satisfying kickflip i’ve ever see
🙌🙌
This is an amazing format. More.
🙌🙏🤝
Milton Martinez in "demolicion" part
True!
Did you guys see that little shifty as Sheckler catches his kickflip down Costco?!? Super stylish.
So good
WOW! Nice going, David. My bones hurt just seeing you and Ryan perform these kickflips..
Haha
love this format
Thank you!
How did Milton’s kickflip on sunset Blvd when he went off the roof and in to that huge bank not make it into this???
Crazy right
@@storied_skateboarding well after I posted the comment I saw that a few people have… haha . Thanks for the response though. Love the vids
Love these dearly ❤
Thank you!
Just two absolute titans, good shit.
💪💪💪
So sick! Costco gap is nearly 15ft high after pop. Plus the death gap over the fence. Costco wins technically but should we compare? Both are all time gnarly💯🙏
Legendary!
Many of these dudes say such stupid answers to "the most famous kickflip" due to bias. obviously its not one of those old clips. has to be shecklers since hes had most fans of the bunch outside hardcore skaters
but yes I get it, they want to include more names in the video
It is all very relative to the eras they grew up skating in
yes thats true, but i meant if we are speaking of the all time most famous@@storied_skateboarding
“Obviously it’s not one of those old clips”? Those were all big deals. And Franks down Wallenberg wasn’t that long before Bachinskys, which itself is almost 20 years ago. Your comment only makes sense if you heard of non of the older kickflips. I started skating in 2002 and Gonzs Mobflip and Marchovics down Carlsbad Gap were legendary. It seems to me that newer skaters just don’t care enough about skateboarding history.

man I would love a film of just Ryan and Dave, Like a 3-7 min film
Iconic!
Your doing such a great job with this channel
Thank you 🤝
The fact that nobody has been back to the “Costco gap” since Ryan Sheckler did it shows, that gap was the hardest nobody is willing to give it another try lol
💪💪💪
skating hasnt stopped but these videos will bring that old typa skate vibe back an im excited for it, ive skated a few times but now im gonna set a new bored up an start seriously
🙏💪🤝
This is a sick video. Was never that big into skateboarding but you showed the picture of scheckler and I instantly was like “yup seen that - very famous”
Thank you!
You got to give it to shecks. Not a single soul has touched the Costco Gap since. There's a reason for that.
🙏🙏🙏
What are your thoughts? Who do YOU think as the most famous kickflip ever?!
Man. All the kickflips mentioned are epic but Enzos kickflip down that gigantic block is so under-rated. Doesn't help that it looks like it was filmed on an iPhone and there was no photo or hype built around it at LEAST deserves an honourable mention
What an epic thing to be alive and witness in my lifetime. This segment was 100/100.
💯💯
Mad respect for these 2 and all the icon kickflips gone down in history. Can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future.
🙌🙌🙌
Unbelievable that it was filmed by the same bloke. Gotta go Bachinsky though personally
Edit: Okay sheckler, fuck idk
Crazy
Bro said 7.5 💀
Haha
Legitimately BUGGING 😂
This is so special ! Growing up
Watching gladiators touch the untouchable, made skateboarding the secret society I wanted to be a part of ! Every broken bone and twisted ankle was a mark of honour
Thank you!
Nah thank you, this is the best documentation of skateboarding
IDK why, every time I see a video about any one of these jumps, I just need to see'em again and again, Amazing!! both of you are history 🏆🏆
🙌🙌🙌
❤
Both gnarly but i got to go with Costco gap.. nobody is stepping to that gap to do anything else.. killer video tho
Thanks!
May not be considered the biggest or most famous kickflip, but Dylan Rieders kickflip over the bump in his gravis part was purely perfection!!!
True!
Crazy how the first two (El Toro / Costco) flips are identical in hangtime. Great vid, subbed!
Thanks for the sub!
most tricks.....
rodney mullen in a florida garage: hello old friend.
Haha
I know this isnt in the same category but Keenan Milton's switch flip over the picnic table was a work of art. RIP.
Truth
Bachinsky thought it was 12 because he was seeing double after that first slam. Dude is nuts! So sick.
Hahah
Great video!!
Thank you!!
El toro 100% Not even a question😆
Good take!
Now for this to come full circle, Bachinsky needs to claim he Backside Flipped the CostCo Gap without landing it 👹
Good content thankyou
Glad you enjoyed it
Man I love the way a big kickflip sounds when you slam it down right on the bolts. I wish my legs weren't made of metal now and I could still do ones taller than a curb.
So good!
Incredible 😮
🙌🙌🙌
Bachinsky definetly. I remember when we watched this, at like age 14 and it was so friggin hype. I was the one who always collected the Skatevideos and we all sat down & watched this 411 it before the session, without actually knowing of Bachinskys Kicklip. He did it so well too. We never heard of him in Europe before this. One of my friends (who struggled with Kickflips) actually learned how to Kickflip the same session and we all were so proud of him, and celebrated him like he was the one who Kickflipped El Toro.
Good times😅
Epic times!
So happy to see that Scheckler is having the respect and recognition that he deserves 🤙
Yes sir!
Absolute monsters. MAD respect. The level of potential injury of these two gaps is huge
💪🙌🤝
Man, the memories from when these clips came out!
🙏🙏🙏
The camaraderie amongst these kickflips is Legendary KING SHIT
🙏🙏🙏
I was at my skating peak when the majority of these came out. Bachinsky’s el toro kickflip was the most ubiquitous and impactful by far. Literally everybody who was into skating brought it up when it happened.
All the others were amazing, but it was only brought up in context of a part or when people were talking about the skater in general. Everyone was talking about the el toro kickflip after it happened.
🤌🤝
thank you tim oconnor for mentioning garcias kickflip, i remember watching mosaic when it came out and i always thought it looked like he had magnets on his feet
So good
I gotta say My FAVORITE kickflip is Mark Appleyard's kickflip over the handrail in Really Sorry. It's literally perfect. The way he pops it, catches it at the peak of his jump. It's unreal
Personal favorites of ours as well
Innsane... both of em. love how good both of those flips are.
