- You asked for an affordable Dry Age experiment and today I deliver your request. Normally you dry age an expensive cut of meat as it takes time and patience to do. But after so many requests made I decided to make this video to see what would happen if I dry age a $1 dollar steak.

I learned from my grandparents that honey also used to tenderize meat. It also has enzymes to soften meat like pineapple. You can also use the honey to add in the sauce too
Honey is my go to for everything
The question is price. If you're going for Eye Round by choice then you're most likely thinking about price. Checking out Google, pineapples are on average $2-4 per fruit as opposed to honey being on average $5-10 per pound. Since you're gonna rinse the steaks off, it would seem better to waste a pineapple than honey.
@@danielseelye6005 you can actually use the honey for the steak itself
@danielseelye6005 Depends on the country though, so it actually might be a nice choice
You also need to know that honey will pull the moisture out of the meat, which could affect the tenderness of the meat

I just found this channel by accident this morning and I have already watched several videos. Very very happy that I found this channel
So, Pineapple seems like an awesome tenderizer. QUESTION: Would I be able to tenderize with Pineapple, rinse completely, then dryage for 45 days in the fridge, then cook to get both the tenderness and the flavor profiles, combined?
Probably not
I would suspect that the remaining enzymes from the pineapple would liquify the meat
It might turn into rotten meat since the remaining enzymes would break down the steak.
@@randomone252 then what about dry aging it first and then tenderizing it with pineapple?
@@dangk3405 The whole point of the dry age is to tenderize, so I think doing both would result in the worst of both worlds.

What happens when you pineapple the dry age?
Funny story, so a couple of years back I used to be a regular franchise diner.. They offered a $10, steak, 2 sides and a drink. I was skeptical to try a $10 steak that included a full meal, but after the first time I was sold. Ate there probably 3 times a week.. just couldn't figure out how on earth they were offering that deal.. the steak was almost great- comparable to some $25-30 steaks I've had.
One day I finally asked what cut they were, they said a cheap sirloin, but they soaked them in pineapple each morning.. I figured the waitress was lying.. but now I've got to try it!
Good story, I need to try also 👍
I tried it once with a sirloin, but I must have done it wrong because the pineapple taste was awful.
