Good going GUY , nice find. I've have one, it's a 1949 Styleline Deluxe . I got it for High School graduation from my father. I got it in 1968 , it's been in storage since, 1972. I just recently got in touch with a long lost cousin from Canada . he knows how to chop tops and a bunch of other cool things . He has one too. We are going to make a couple of customs out of them. We want to put Chevy 409 engines in them.
@@RebeldryversGarage I wish I could find 50 olds for parts. We went into the city for the 4th of July and I'm driving through this construction zone which nothing what's going on. Anyway this 1950 Oldsmobile 88 pass me the other way and I take my 4 by 4 extended cab through the construction cones like it was a slalom course. Anyway I hadn't stopped backup because wouldn't find a froome get turned around. Hit the guardrail and I chased that old boy down probably 5 mi through the City. He was not a half a block from where we started out from. And then later had drive five miles back to the city but it was okay. He was 82 years old and we swap stories and he had a 455 in that 2 door post 1950 Olds 88 and this thing was sweet and clean. No hatchet jobs here. And it was a Brandywine color. With a red interior and I don't know how to describe interior but it flattered the exterior. And the guy he got it from had all the stainless Chromed! I just need some trim for mine and I don't even want perfect trim. It's a tribute car to Al gross race car NASCAR driver. But it's set up for the quarter mile. Anyway I got a good deal on it years ago. If I run across something like that I'll let you know. I don't know what your budget is. Or if you just want an early 50s type Chevy. Those are easier to find. Matter fact another TH-camr just did a video on a 50 Chevy two-door post. Pretty much complete and it was there. A couple years ago this card lack nothing but it wasn't 4-door 1950 Oldsmobile and he was asking $8,000 for it down twelve thousand and it was absolutely a steal. But I didn't have 8K to throw at it.
Cool car, looks like it has lots of potential. Would be WAY cooler with a something different engine in it than a LS though. Maybe a 292 with a set of cheap aluminum sbc heads cut and welded together to fit on the 292 with a custom intake and exhaust would be WAY cooler than an LS. A couple yt channels are doing the Ford 300 LS set of heads cut and welded together swap but no one is doing the sbc heads on a Chevy L6 292. Dealers choice though, I'll watch whatever you decide to install in it.
fun stuff - you'll find the frame with its x-member weighs more then the body by a substantial amount. on my 50 Buick Sedanet, I cut just the X out and had to move it with a cherry picker.... and I'm fairly fit. my current thought on that car is a full tube chassis - in the end, I think I'll be much happier with the result.
It looks like it’s got lots of potential for anything you would want to do with it, great find !

Looks like a great project and a lot like a Olds 88 from 1950s from the side view
The 49 and 50 Olds do look a lot like the Chevys in this era. I wish I could find one of those in my budget.

This build is about going fast for not a ton of money. Spending a bunch of money for some unique engine build isn't in the cards here.

These do not have an X frame. Full tube chassis is way out of my budget.
Are you going to use the original frame, how rusty is it? I think that car would look great with some wide tires under the back fenders! Go for it!
The frame is great. I do not have the budget for a full chassis build, the original frame stays with maybe a Mustang II type front suspension.
Scott, sometimes at swap meets there are people who have titles.
Did you keep the "weed" growing back by the left rear tire? Asking for a friend..
If want to smoke that ditch weed, be my guest. You probably won't like the results.
