Nice job. It is nice that in these LED bulbs one can unscrew the bottom part. it is always a pain the bend the clips in order to fit aftermarket bulbs. However, I see no real reason to put the spacers. Why spacers? I don't see how it makes any difference.

Nice video. The LEDs are pretty and appear bright but are they actually brighter at night? Do they cast a wider or longer throw? I've seen elsewhere when halogens are replaced by LED's and the reflective lens doesn't work properly in conjunction, the LED may appear brighter but actually cast less light at night.

That was my personal experience of switching to Led

I mean, I do see an advantage to put spacers, but more for different reason. So when you screw the bottom part of the LED bulb, it does not press against the clip, which is often a cause of the clip disengaging. I also see no reason of cutting the OEM connector, even though it does look cleaner. One can just fit the LED H7 connector to the OEM one.

without spacers, the rubber cover would be pushed deep into the lamp, this could cause the cover to slide off and this could cause leaks to the lamp when riding in the rain. The LED bulb gets very hot when they work and that was another reason to use washers to keep the distance between the bulb housing and the rubber cover. I cut the OEM connectors to keep everything hermetically sealed in the event of a leak

i will make LED conversion on headlights this winter on my 2018 Versys 650.
I know that those waterproof connectors (which I can buy on aliexpress or in local shop) I can disassemble on few parts (plastic frame, steel/silver/gold/copper connector, and little rubber seal) is it same with OEM connectors?
if I can do that with OEM connectors, than I don't need to cut anythig, I just need to disassemble "male connector" desoldered wires from connector, and than cut H7 connector, and put there OEM "male connector". So I will have intact original wires (uncut), but I will have original connectors which are waterproof.

@@malizec7793 it's your bike, so you can do it your way, I had problems before with my other bike where after ride in the rain lights went crazy so I'm very cafeful about that.

is it compulsory to cut the dust caps to be able to install a set of LED lights?

I don't have this motorcycle anymore, I replaced it with a new SE model but I used this lighting without any problems for 3 years, of course I set the lights a little lower because the lamp housings were adapted to ordinary bulbs and not to LEDs

    Excellent how to do video.
You put a lot of effort into it.
Do you think that kit would suit 2015 Z1000SX.

    • @MotoAndy
      @MotoAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks. It's hard to say, but I suspect that it is not possible due to the construction of the frame and fairings. you would have to make a custom frame for these lamps, but it's probably not worth the money.

Great video ! You definitely know what you are doing.
Plug and play doesn’t work for led bulbs? You need to do all that job?
Generally I prefer to use cold light halogen bulbs. Easy to install and great light too.
    Cheers!

Hi @MotoAndy, very nice video, my bike is a 2016 Versys 650 and I already order the turn lights you recommend in the other video, in this case, I´m confused because you recommend H7 LED 6000K bulbs and Philips T-10 Philips side markers lights, but in a comment below you put a link to another type of LEDs, can you please clarify so I can order the right thing. Thanks in advanced and pura vida.
