Right then folks - another video from Cornwall today - this time at Paul Ainsworth's "Caffe Rojano" - it's Michelin recommended, but just how good is it?
Absolutely - in many cases it's like a football player who stops playing well because they think they're famous.... that hardly ever happens right....... 😂
Love your channel Greeno. Both you and Gary Eats are terrific TH-camrs. Keep up the good work. Top Notch review of a top notch eatery. I am so pleased you enjoyed everything, a rare occurrence for every reviewer. I think there is a massive difference between eateries owned by celebrity chefs who are famous for being excellent chefs and those owned by celebrities who were chefs but who are now just famous for being famous e.g. Stein and Ramsey.
Well guess you will have to return and give the rest of the menu a try. I know it will be hard yakker, but SOMEBODY has to do it. Thanks for the upload, Greeno.
Caffê Rojano does like tasty. The pricing is reasonable considering it is a celebrity chef run establishment and Michelin recommended. No service charge is a bonous. Nice find Greeno👍👍
Fantastic! It just shows how celebrity chefs should do it. The food looks wonderful and the place looks very inviting for everyone. Thanks so much. Your videos are always extremely good and fair. All the very best to you.
Top Notch Greeno. Great classy little place with quality dishes well presented. Testament to Paul, the Chefs and his design and management team of both the food and decor.
Padstow is a beautiful town. I did a 2 day course at Rick’s cookery school there. The tutoring, accommodation and food was amazing and I made some good friends, met Rick too 😊
Nice to see a celebrity chef who represents himself well, unlike a certain other chef who likes to constantly drop the F-bomb! Everything looked lovely, was well plated and prepared with care. I have never eaten squid, but that dish might've changed my thoughts on trying it!😊

Excellent review as always Greeno, seems like Paul ainsworth, is one of the few celebrity chefs that actually take care of their restaurants.some nice plates of food here. And looks like a lovely place to visit.
Nice review,I enjoyed seeing what was on the menu, I like calamari, and flat breads, I have never had an arancini, never really appealed to me,so my substitute would have been the tuna tartar,no chips for me,but I know they are important to a lot of your viewers.I enjoy seeing what is available, even though I am to far away to ever be able to try any of the places you review, but it seems as if a lot of the people watching only are interested in something they can afford.I often read menus from expensive restaurants just to see what is available, then sometimes I try to recreate what I can not afford any other way.😊
I was eating all of that with you!…I wish. Very generous with the Parmesan too. The best of the celebrity chef restaurants that I’ve seen. Bit on the dear side but as a treat, marvellous! Cheers Greeno!😊
Oooh Greeno, i like the look of that place, the food looks fantastic and honestly for a celebrity chefs spot the portions are of a very good size! That calamari looked lush, mmmm, hungry just looking at that lot! Great idea trying the small plates. Great honest review as usual, thanks for sharing this one!👍👏👏👏♥️🏴

'A wig of parmesan'. I like it, Greeno ! Very literary ! Down in Australia, we've seen a bit of Paul Ainsworth, sometimes with Raymond Blanc, other times cooking old royal dishes on a BBC show. A nicer man and a better chef you'll never find. I think Gary popped into the Mariners and loved it. I saw that video. Great restaurant. Thanks, Greeno, & All the best !
Making me hungry for squid. Last visited Cornwall about 8-9 years ago there was a place called the Crumplehorn inn and mill. Great review! I’m in Devon and this looks worth a trip into Padstow, just checked out their website and good to see they have a separate veggie/vegan menu 🎉❤
That looked excellent Greeno. Good to see a celebrity chef's restaurant that lives up to the reputation. The only celebrity chef's restaurant I've been to was James Martin in Manchester and that was really good but having seen your review I'd definitely pay Paul Ainsworth's a visit if I'm ever down that way.

That looked so good and enough to take away for later. Paul Ainsworth gets good reviews for his food because its is good. Gary eats went to one of his restaurants and said it was superb and full of praise for the food and quality. 5/5 for me.
Too cheesy for me but clearly really decent food prepared with care and served in a lovely location. Great to see a "celebrity" chef (although I think of Ainsworth more as a real chef who is sometimes on TV) keeping his good name through good quality food. Excellent review!
You're probably right about his "celebrity chef" status - he probably doesn't see it that way himself. Glad you enjoyed the review, I certainly enjoyed getting to eat there!
Yeah, really good restaurant - great food at a fairly reasonable price - and I like the fact there was no automatic adding of a service charge - means the servers and management need to keep sharp to try to elicit tips (which they did very well!)
Wow wow wow this was absolutely incredible, the quality, presentation and it was delicious, the prices not bad for the quality and that was enough for 2 for lunch,I’m hungry now 😋👍👏
This one looked good. A solid menu with exciting flavors and good presentation. For less than 50 pounds, I think that's quite reasonable. I was impressed this time, so it's a green light from me. 👍 .... Good video. Your style is evolving and improving. Good job.
It’s an excellent eatery Mark, I went on a midweek lunchtime, and was lucky to even get a table, and that was at the time when lunch service should be dying down. I appreciate the kind words about the content!
Back in Newquay in a weeks time - was in Padstein last April and did Rik's Fish and Chips and was disappointed - looking forward to trying Caffe Rojana following your review - Thank you Greeno!
@@lilesindiecorner I really appreciate you noticing that Lile - I guess it just comes with practice! There are still occasions where I feel a bit out of place doing things, or self conscious when people are staring at me chatting away to myself but most folk are just fine with it and ignore me !

looked decent, glad you enjoyed. I had lunch at the Ambassador's Club yesterday, new restaurant from the people that brought you Gymkhana, highly recommend it, I think you should definitely give it a go next time you fancy a curry.
Whilst you're down in Cornwall I have a few must try recommendations for you! You ABSOLUTELY have to try a breakfast box from the GRIDL van in Newquay and also Rems Cafe about a minutes drive away. I've had a couple of GRIDL breakfasts and honestly never had anything as close in quality. Not tried Rems yet but reviews are fantastic. Did go a few months ago but was over an hour wait for a table which says a lot! Also in Newquay you need to do a fish and chip review day maybe comparing the 5 best spots like Gary Eats did in a video somewhere else on the coast. Francines and Flounders are my 2 favourites in Newquay! Also on the fish and chips topic you need to try Harbour Lights in Falmouth. I reckon they're the best in the whole of Cornwall! On another note for the best pasty you absolutely must try Sarah's in Looe. I've seen your older video on Philps in Hayle and I have Sarah's no.1 and Philps no.2 so far on my pasty quest. There's also a place called Gear Farm which I've not yet tried but has a legendary status for pasties amongst the cornish folk. Would love to see you try some of these! Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to more great content
I'm already back in Dorset - I was very close to going to Harbour Lights on this trip - but it's definitely pencilled in for next time!! Thanks for the other tips though, adding them to the list!!
@GreenoEats ahhhh no worries you'll really enjoy harbour lights 100x better than rip off Rick's 🤣 I'm moving from Manchester to Cornwall in 7 weeks I'm counting down the days! Come to think of it I've never seen you do a review in Manchester 👀👀
@@deanyoung0161 I haven't yet (it's quite a way from Dorset!) - I will be in the North some time in the next 4 weeks or so, but probably not Manchester - that might have to wait until later in the year.
arranchini may have been a tad expensive but like you said the flavour was phenomanol so that takes great skill and the dip with it can't be cheap to make.. everything else i would say was a bargain for a celeb chef establishment.. paul ainsworth obviously works hard for his living and dosn't believe the sun shines out of his a~~e.. so fair play to him and another great review greeno
Yes - from what I have seen and know of him, he seems like a very genuine guy who doesn't buy into the hype around the "celebrity" his talent has led him towards.
I highly recommend the 'MICHELIN' Pilot 4S. The outstanding grip in the wet when cornering at over 90 mph proves it's worth. Trust me I know. (not just restaurants😜).
Great review! Some redemption for the celebrity chefs lol. As a Yankee, I am curious regarding what is considered a strong tip in the U.K.? Here, 15-20% is the floor for good service. A decade ago, it was 10-15%.
In the UK I would say 10% is standard if you are leaving a tip - but a lot of folk just don't tip at all. For me the US tipping model has gone too far - it's expected even for unexceptional service, and just becomes an excuse for businesses to underpay their staff, with the customer expected to pick up the slack.
Paul Ainsworth does appear to get better reviews than other celeb chefs. Price-wise I guess there is a little 'plus' to these but if the quality is there then one does not mind that.
I think the price was pretty fair for the quantity of food received (that big bowl of fries was just £4 for example). Seems Paul is a chef who really cares about the quality in his venues, not just about milking his name.
Great stuff. There's obviously a reason why Ainsworth has such a good reputation. He's at that sweet spot where he has a number of locations but can still keep the quality high. I hope he doesn't go down the road of the other chefs who are trashing their reputations by slapping their names on third rate burger joints and overpriced pasta. 👍
I would imagine given his profile that he has already had (and presumably rejected) offers to put his name to other places. Seems to have his head screwed on right.
Proof if it were needed to show that nice guy Paul Ainsworth cares about his opinions. Gary reviewed the Mariners and that got a great review also. Good review Greeno. You need to sort your eyes out as they're bigger than your belly.
I’ve not heard a bad word about any of Paul Ainsworth’s restaurants. I think Gary visited one and was as equally impressed. It’s going to be hard to top this one, but I’m sure you’ll try 😀
HI Greeno,Another great video, only problem I have is never been to Padstow did you say its somewhere near Cornwall if so I have never been to Cornwall anyway. Also Greeno I am not into all these fancy chefs and would not pay these prices .so you know what you can do with people like Rick Stein Well what you had the flat bread was the best the other two items not for me I hate Squid anyway. Glad you enjoyed it but sorry cannot give a mark.
Hiya Greeno, I'm not sure about celebrity eateries. A plus point for Mr Paul Ainsworth. His fledgling empire is located in a small catchment area. That hopefully means he can be hands on. My concern with most of these outlets, is the cost to the public. Whilst the C. C's tell as the high cost of running a restaurant, but keep opening more of them. Most are RIP OFFS 😢😢👎👎But now onto the foodie bit. Grand portion of the fries. Hate wasting my food, so the " golden balls" thought were fabulous, but they and the squid(which by the way is not a favourite of mine) a tadge to much colour, oil few degrees to high. Flatbread, plain simple, great base for the massive amount of toppings, and the mix of Ingredients seemed to blend together very well. Bottom line, £50ish almost London prices. Worth it🤔🤔? Well, you were very well served and found no fault with your meal. Be interesting to compare. Locals vs Tourists customers. I do truly hope that Mr Ainsworth will be able to keep it local, and not follow the heard. Fantastic and entertaining video, as is usual for the channel 😊Allan&Family
I think Paul Ainsworth is a genuine seeming guy - I doubt he'll have his head turned by a few extra quid for putting his name to something he can't control (I am sure he will already have had multiple opportunities to do so should he wish) I think with the squid it wasn't overdone, there was paprika in the batter, which gave it the darker colour.
These celebrity chef restaurants seem to focus on simple, relatively inexpensive, fresh produce that seeks major refinement into a taste perfection. Has to look highly appealing to the eye. They are not cheap and you pay top dollar for the refined taste sensation. 44 quid for lunch sounds expensive. I guess it is, but not really when you put into context it was a great feed you thoroughly enjoyed and could not finish. You have a good job travelling around UK and Europe feasting yourself.
PA is a great TV chef - hope he fares well! 🤞 That’s how you do it - the other chefs need to oversee their restaurants 👏 Food looks amazing! 😋 Overall not bad at all price wise as would easily feed two 👍 Oh dear! 😖 I personally don’t think dogs should be in restaurants - maybe an outside seating area instead 🤷♀️ They could then have a doggie menu 😂
I 100% agree with your views on Mr Aisworth - clearly doing things right to sustain his businesses long term. As for the dogs in restaurants, I guess I was sat in a conservatory area, I didnt spot dogs in the main restaurant area.

I have thought about it Mark, maybe I will do it as a 20k subscriber special when I get there 🙂
good review mate
Thanks Stephen!
Glad you didn't waste it 😊sounded like you had a nice meal.keep up the top content greeno 🧐
I'll do my best Ryan !
Wow 👌 looks amazing the food 😍 love ❤ anything Italian 😋 bellissimo! Looks like you are really enjoying it Greeno! 😅😅❤🎉
I did really enjoy this, each dish was really well thought out and blooming delicious!
@@GreenoEats I was eating it with my eyes 👀 lol 😆 😅 I also found some Balsamic Vinegar you can put on desserts 🍨 ie icecreams and strawberries 🍓 etc! I have a Cousin who had it just about on anything!! Including Vanilla Ice 🍦 cream! When he told us we thought he was joking! Mind you this was over 20 years ago Greeno! Definately going to get some Balsamic Vinegar! On my next grocery run! Look forward to your next great video! Enjoy your weekend too Greeno! Take care Helenx (Henny Penny) in Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
@@GreenoEats you will have to make a return visit Greeno! With your lovely family
Great food and another great review 👍
Thanks Paul - that's much appreciated!
That looked so good and enough to take away for later. Paul Ainsworth gets good reviews for his food because its is good.
Gary eats went to one of his restaurants and said it was superb and full of praise for the food and quality.
5/5 for me.
Yes easily enough for 2 to share as a very adequate lunch, and at a not unreasonable price given the standing of the owner and the location!
Niceone Greeno i always thought Paul Ainsworth looked sound!!! 🎉
Yeah, really good restaurant - great food at a fairly reasonable price - and I like the fact there was no automatic adding of a service charge - means the servers and management need to keep sharp to try to elicit tips (which they did very well!)
Wow wow wow this was absolutely incredible, the quality, presentation and it was delicious, the prices not bad for the quality and that was enough for 2 for lunch,I’m hungry now 😋👍👏
It really was good - and for the money very reasonable
This one looked good. A solid menu with exciting flavors and good presentation. For less than 50 pounds, I think that's quite reasonable. I was impressed this time, so it's a green light from me. 👍 .... Good video. Your style is evolving and improving. Good job.
It’s an excellent eatery Mark, I went on a midweek lunchtime, and was lucky to even get a table, and that was at the time when lunch service should be dying down. I appreciate the kind words about the content!
Your mate Gary tried a different one of Pauls restaurants a few months back, he was quite impressed.
Yes he did, The Mariners I think.
Back in Newquay in a weeks time - was in Padstein last April and did Rik's Fish and Chips and was disappointed - looking forward to trying Caffe Rojana following your review - Thank you Greeno!
I hope you will be as impressed as I was - and don't forget to let them know who sent you haha!
A wig of Parmesan lol pretty apt description pal😅😅
I was gonna call it the Donald Trump of arancini, but didn't want the algorithm to pick up on that name lol
that looked absolutely delicious. And I'm saying that even though I don't like squid, but when it looks this tasty, I wanna try it for myself!
It was superb Lile - I know a lot of people are a little squeamish about eating squid, but if it was cooked like this everyone would eat it :-)
@@GreenoEats also wanted to say it‘s so awesome how comfortable you are in public now. I love the energy!
@@lilesindiecorner I really appreciate you noticing that Lile - I guess it just comes with practice! There are still occasions where I feel a bit out of place doing things, or self conscious when people are staring at me chatting away to myself but most folk are just fine with it and ignore me !
@@GreenoEats I think I would cringe into myself regardless. I don‘t like people 😂 but you‘re doing great, Greeno!
This is what good food is all about. A fab review, Greeno. 💖
Thanks - great food, fab service and a relatively reasonable price - what's not to like!

@@GreenoEats you should check it out . . . The boats are like hydrofoils.
Very exciting .
Cor! That all looked so good! 😋
It was as good as it looks !!
looked decent, glad you enjoyed. I had lunch at the Ambassador's Club yesterday, new restaurant from the people that brought you Gymkhana, highly recommend it, I think you should definitely give it a go next time you fancy a curry.
Just checked out the Ambassador's Club online - looks very nice. Did you have a la Carte or the Lunch Menu?
@@GreenoEats went ala carte but the lunch menu looks absolutely superb. Gorgeous room. I highly recommend it.
I'm impressed. It looks amazing and it looks delicious. It just might be worth a trip to Cornwall.
There was a mother and daughter at the next table who had driven down from Preston and ate there twice with an overnight stay. Says it all!!
@@GreenoEats COOL!!!
@GreenoEats ahhhh no worries you'll really enjoy harbour lights 100x better than rip off Rick's 🤣
I'm moving from Manchester to Cornwall in 7 weeks I'm counting down the days! Come to think of it I've never seen you do a review in Manchester 👀👀
@@deanyoung0161 I haven't yet (it's quite a way from Dorset!) - I will be in the North some time in the next 4 weeks or so, but probably not Manchester - that might have to wait until later in the year.
Greeno lets give it a go ...
Hang on, that's someone elses catchphrase isn't it? 😂
arranchini may have been a tad expensive but like you said the flavour was phenomanol so that takes great skill and the dip with it can't be cheap to make.. everything else i would say was a bargain for a celeb chef establishment.. paul ainsworth obviously works hard for his living and dosn't believe the sun shines out of his a~~e.. so fair play to him and another great review greeno
Yes - from what I have seen and know of him, he seems like a very genuine guy who doesn't buy into the hype around the "celebrity" his talent has led him towards.
Wow, that looks amazing 😊
It really was Paul, well worth a visit!
I highly recommend the 'MICHELIN' Pilot 4S. The outstanding grip in the wet when cornering at over 90 mph proves it's worth. Trust me I know. (not just restaurants😜).
Haha 🙂
10/10 from me.
Thank you for taking us along.
You are most welcome Nigel!
Good food and great review.
It was, and thank you Trevor!
Good review looked great
Oh yes - this one was really good !!
Hi greeno hope your good and your lovely family.
Never heard of him .
Hopefully greeno.
Sure it will be.
Looks amazing lucky you.
Ann in Cumbria.xx ❤.
He's on the TV quite a bit - but doesn't play on his "celebrity" status as much as some others might it would seem!
I had a look at the menu online. Wow what a great choice. A dog could go mad!
It was hard to narrow it down to the dishes I chose!
Nice vid. Everything looked great. We are off to Rome next week so you whet my appetite😅
Ooh, nice. I love Rome, one of those cities you can just spend days wandering round finding interesting places
@@GreenoEats Great to know, thanks
@@worldsgreatestimpressionis6462 I reckon the Pantheon might just be my favourite building in the world too - just an amazing place!
Looks good! I'm now waiting for Gary Eats to do a Green0Eats laugh ☺
You never know, it might catch on!
Proof if it were needed to show that nice guy Paul Ainsworth cares about his opinions. Gary reviewed the Mariners and that got a great review also. Good review Greeno. You need to sort your eyes out as they're bigger than your belly.
They must be very big eyes haha! I knew I would be over-ordering, but it makes for a nice takeout :-)
I’ve not heard a bad word about any of Paul Ainsworth’s restaurants. I think Gary visited one and was as equally impressed. It’s going to be hard to top this one, but I’m sure you’ll try 😀
Yes, he went to the Mariners I think, and was equally impressed. We can't both be wrong, can we? haha!
@@GreenoEats definitely not 😀
HI Greeno,Another great video, only problem I have is never been to Padstow did you say its somewhere near Cornwall if so I have never been to Cornwall anyway.
Also Greeno I am not into all these fancy chefs and would not pay these prices .so you know what you can do with people like Rick Stein
Well what you had the flat bread was the best the other two items not for me I hate Squid anyway.
Glad you enjoyed it but sorry cannot give a mark.
Hi Stewart - glad you enjoyed the video. Padstow is indeed in Cornwall - a nice place if you do ever get the chance to visit.
Nice video and yummy food .
I'm glad you enjoyed it (I certainly enjoyed filming it!)
Good review. I guess if you go to Padstow you are going to have pay a lot of money - probably too much for an average family. But very good quality.
Definitely better value than the other famous chef in the area!
I think Paul Ainsworth is a genuine seeming guy - I doubt he'll have his head turned by a few extra quid for putting his name to something he can't control (I am sure he will already have had multiple opportunities to do so should he wish)
I think with the squid it wasn't overdone, there was paprika in the batter, which gave it the darker colour.
Well you say job - it's kind of a break even hobby masquerading as a job really, but I enjoy it!
Looks braw!!!
The squid and chips would do it for me :)
Yeah, they were absolutely banging!!
PA is a great TV chef - hope he fares well! 🤞
That’s how you do it - the other chefs need to oversee their restaurants 👏
Food looks amazing! 😋 Overall not bad at all price wise as would easily feed two 👍
Oh dear!
