So I recently met up with my friend Sonam who’s from the small mountain nation of Nepal wedged between China and India and he took me around to surprise Nepalis by speaking their rare language and I was totally shocked at how friendly and welcoming they were.

yes you should!
Yes 🙌🏻
Go to the nearest dump and climb it. That's how bad it is now.
Quite the compliment when he said when I heard you, I thought you were Nepali. People say the same thing about your Mandarin
For us as Nepali if you speak Nepali you are Nepali. Two big civilisations Chinese / magnolia & Indo Aryan settle here. So until you are British white we think you are Nepali if you speak Nepali. And also when we see white people we think they are British. So not to offend anyone we usually ask which country they came from. Otherwise people assume all white are British. Nepal & Britain has more than 200 years old history as allies.
The SINCERITY with which he says "nah, don't climb Everest, you'll die" -- man we all know he is so darn right!! Ari don't you dare. Xiaoma unites the entire world speaking languages.
His mom made your kids lil outfits!! How sweet, what a lovely video.
That lady was so sweet.
It's normal culture. If parents know your friend has a baby then they will provide something for the baby. But it's sweet aunty took time to make something.
Don't climb Everest, man. It's been done thousands of times and it's turning the mountain into a garbage dump and graveyard. Check out some of the videos about this here on TH-cam. It's not worth risking your life for. I'm sure you could go to Nepal and experience the mountains without doing Everest.
Right. Lots of safer mountains. 😊
Why not just fly over Everest? Get a bird’s eye view. Hiking it is over rated
@@ce1275no it’s not , vastly different experiences in actually walking through the nature by smelling it feeling it and going through it as opposed to jsut seeing it from a Birds Eye view
@@ce1275It’s extremely dangerous to fly over the Himalayas in general let alone Mt Everest.
It's been done thousands of times, but not by him.
Xiao, you really give people a lot of hope for the future. I was telling my grandmother about you learning Native American languages last night and she was so impressed because of the complicated structures of the code-talkers whom she’s been into recently. Keep up the great videos!
This is the anti racist channel and in this time and age, we need it
@@Chibeagle agreed, he’s really showing we need to be together, not afraid of each other
Amen !!
Yeah Ari talking to the elders was so emotional. Ari is a super cool dude. ❤😎🕺
He can wake up anywhere in the world and not be a stranger now
As a Nepali I am very happy to see this video
The people in the video did you proud. They were awesome ✌️
Long live Nepal! 🇳🇵
The people from Nepal were amazingly friendly and kind! Wow I like those people!
Dude you should become a freaking diplomat! Kudos to you my friend, you're awesome :D
if being a diplomat means getting into political debates, stay out of it. Instead, just visit casually and enjoy the food.
Perhaps becoming a Tourism and Cultural ambassador could encourage more Americans to travel abroad and learn about different places. I believe that is a major issue in America currently.
He is the ambassador of Earth.
@@davidstufflebean3285 There are a lot of reasons Americans do not travel outside of the US. The first and most obvious one is the cost. The second is America is a massive country with a lot more to see and do then you can imagine so most Americans prefer to travel their own country. Many have no interest in traveling its their business.
The smile on the shopkeeper's face made it all worthwhile. Giving someone a moment of joy and making them feel seen by learning about their language and culture is so rewarding. Thanks for keeping the feel good videos coming Ari. Best wishes to you and your family.
I love when Xiao is eating spicy and the people are always concerned. It's lovely
Because Asian countries eat lots of spices and western food don't have much spicy...so for first timer everyone will be concerned
I met a young Nepali man while working in the restaurant industry. One of the nicest people I've ever met!
I absolutely believe you, based on this video.
Same with me! Her name was Geeta and she was the sweetest person ever. Nepalis are the best!
we had an indian dishwasher at 3 of the places i worked at. super nice ppl. som may have been nepali or burmesan. dunno rly. but they were all great hard working guys. sending money home every month and such.
Aww that was so nice of your friends mom to knit your kiddo's sweaters. Everyone was so friendly. I love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing all of your adventures with us! ❤
Dude is a straight up legend!!! I know 3 languages and I'm so inspired when I watch how u talk to people from different cultures and nationalities. Learning Spanish right now!
Los verbos son lo más difícil por la forma en que conjugan. Good luck!
Nepali people are some of the sweetest people I've ever met. And not to mention, almost all of them speak Hindi (India's national language). I'm Indian, and the locals told me they're self-taught in Hindi, because they love Indian movies & songs. I'm Indian, but Nepal has a big place in my heart... the mountains, the calmness, the people, the food, and raksi bina ma marchu 😉🇳🇵❤ JAI NEPAL
Also, because both of us say NAMASTE, in Sanskrit it literally translates to "I bow to you", but what it means is: "The divine in me, bows to the divine in you". It's recognizing the same soul and divinity in the person or animal you're greeting.
That's awesome! Have you ever visited Nepal before? I've always wanted to go but never had the opportunity to do so.
I agree with everything that you have said except Hindi is not India’s national language
@@justins8304 it is mero bhai, well half of the population speak hindi as first language then any other languages. as hindi and english is the national language of india not the tamil not the bengali nor the punjabi nither marathi its thehindi and english.
I love how the guys whole vibe changed from completely baffled to seriously concerned when talking about the spice level of the food lol
You have given more motivation for me to continue learn Nepali. My partner is Nepali, and the culture is so welcoming. Unity in diversity!
The sweaters were adorable. It's amazing the reception you get from people. You literally have friends in every country of the world.
You have such an amazing gift! I’ve tried learning a few phrases of Tamil to impress my local shopkeeper but the pronunciation is way off 😅
Keep going! Tamil is a beautiful language and it'll be quite the achievement to say you can speak one of the oldest, if not the oldest language in the world.
I hope it helps to know we appreciate any effort to speak in our language!
As a Nepali native speaker I’m happy to see you finally made a video on speaking Nepali. Your Nepali was pretty good 👍
That was really nice of his mom to gift you the handmade clothes 😢❤
A beautiful gift, and for someone she never met. A glimpse into their culture i think.
@@eloerch7 yeah you are right. It's normal culture. I usually buy chocolates for my friend kids whom I have never met.
Xiao is the master of rizzing up the ladies. ive never been more blown away by a youtuber man. your gift of language is unreal
Please listen to the Nepalis and don't climb Everest. It's become a graveyard of amateur mountain climbers. You're a gifted language communicator, not a mountaineer.
I think he was surely joking.
@@MrTruckerfyes I believe he was having a craic as well. My buddy Bryce took holiday in Nepal for a hiking trip in the lower mountains and even then there’s dangers and tourists having accidents.
I guess it's just an easy way to start a conversation. He may climb in future but I think in this context he is trying to have a conversation by saying he wants to climb.
Base camp is fine. But Id rather walk some of the famous paths along the river valleys.
That guys mom is super wholesome. What a nice lady.
Xiao, I have been a fan of your videos for some time now and I was hoping you would interact with us Nepali people, seeing that you did and even took the time to learn our language is amazing. Thank you for your amazing videos!
6:27 The look on his face when he asked, "Are you sure?" 😂😂
Still can’t believe how much weight he lost he looks so much better
THANKS
I don't know how he can lose weight when he is eating all the native food from so many countries.
@@MrTruckerfhe walks practically everywhere.
Always amazed at the fact that folks open up when you speak their language, even if it is basic. I am no linguist but I believe even picking up a few words here and there would be great if you are visiting a new place for the first time.
So many nice people. Sonam seems really nice too. Languages are awesome.
I enjoy all of your videos but this one had me smiling the entire time. Everyone you met was so genuinely happy and so kind. Just what I needed to see to start the day in a good mood.
Scrolling TH-cam to get rid of my anxiety and suddenly I’m crying happy tears over a Nepali man being overjoyed by an American man’s language skills. Did not know this is what I needed but thank you ♥️ I will subscribe!
Always wanted to see you speaking Nepali.
Been watching your videos for while now big respect and love to your bro.
Ali pronunciation chahi bhaena bro ko tara thorai time ma sikeko hola garo huncha
@@zorlockts5744 Xiaoma usually takes class for 15 days then he will find some friends then he goes around and starts speaking trying his best. You can't recite language so practicing is a must.
Hell Yeah ❤. Watched you for years and love to see you speaking Nepali.I literally searched for your channel and hoped you uploaded something and boom there it was. Love from Nepal Xiaoma
SO glad I made it to the end, those gifts were too cute. Another great video.
Another wholesome af video thank you xiaoma!
His mom in the end was so nice
I had been following your channel since years, and I always wanted to watch you learn Nepali, and you've gone and done it! Keep up what you do Xiamo! Lots of love from Nepal!
07:36, idk why but that was too funny. "Ayee Nepali bolxa" 😂
The infant clothes at the end 😭🥹
Nepali are good genuine people. I met lots of them
This man's friend, Sonam, is really chill and awesome as well.
I love and admire when you speak to someone in their native language and the joy it brings them. Such a beautiful connection.
thanks
as usual, what an AMAZING VIDEO! The happiness of the people seeing you speaking their language has no price!
Dude this video makes me happy. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to learn our language.
I love beautiful Nepali ppl...soo honest, simple and big hearted ppl
so kind and generous of Auntie to gift baby sweaters
Finally, the day has come. General talking Nepali is easy to earn but when you start learning grammar and literature then you might be surprised. Love from Nepal
This was lovely. I would like to watch some more videos of you speaking Nepali.
Thank you for sharing.
It’s such a pleasure to watch your videos. I’m a xenophile (lover of different cultures), although aside from English and Spanish, about all I can say in some other languages is enough to find a bathroom or the American Consulate. You’re amazing!
Way kool, keep empowering people to learn, not just a new language, maybe their favorite language. Bless you and your family and friends , and bless your 2024
Been your subscriber for years now. Had been waiting for this video for a long time:) I'm Indian of Nepali ethnicity. You were amazing. All the Nepali folks who interacted with you were extremely respectful and happy. You got such genuine compliments:) Thank you for bringing us all closer. Wish you good health and happiness.
So good to know, thank you!
4:20 Just been to Pokhara last month and that is such an iconic place in Nepal. 10/10 would visit again.
This is the sweetest video.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Love it, Xiaoma. Keep going bud.
You are such an amazing person! Please learn all the languages in the world.
Bringing the world closer together with every video, love the content man, also, good luck on your physical and mental health journey bro ✌️
This was so fun to watch! He's using a lot of the same phrases and language I learned when I lived in Nepal, and it's inspiring me to pick it back up again.
Been to Nepal a few times, love it there. Nepali is really challenging, even harder to find reference material
I love your videos so much! They immediately respond to the time and effort you took to learn their native tongue. The ultimate respect is language.
Another amazing video...
❤ the happiness on their faces when you speak their language!
Loved this one!
Xiao, Nepali is a pretty out there and difficult language to learn man. Very ecstatic to see you learn it and communicate with the great community 👏
Make sure to visit the country and amaze more people!
mad respect to u for learning our language. happy to see others learning our language
This man has the vaccine for world peace. We must follow
My dad when he was in the army he trained with the gurkha from nepal brave people and very good cooks its why my dad so good at currys i was stunning to someone a could months ago and his wife from nepal and his bussiness is people make products native to nepal and he sells them and they spilt its 50/50 i want to go nepal some points in my life looks beautiful and want to learn how to make the gurkha knives it be amazing
I work with a bunch of dudes from Nepal. Nicest guys
Hey man, your content is always amazing and I can’t get enough. Is there a training platform or learning program you’d recommend for someone trying to learn their first new language?
This is so cool, I’ve always wanted to learn Napali, but it’s very difficult. This makes it feel like it can actually be done.
Your videos bring me so much joy.
people from this part of the world are very nice humble people
Big W for Nepali people. The gift at the end is amazing.
I love how much joy Xiaoma brings to people when he speaks their languages and wants to learn about their cultures. If more people were like him, maybe we'd have more love and less hate in the world.
The guys face of concern when you said great to eat being spicy and he just dead serious looks at you and says “Are you sure?”
We eat spicy food. Fireball Chilli 100k - 350k Shu we eat that chilli. So our spicy level can be seriously harmful for some westerners.
I absolutely love this channel
Glad to see you are promoting the restaurants and tipping the waitstaff.
Noice.... 😂😂😂 अति रमाइलो भिडियो। खुशी लाग्यो हेरेर।
- तपाईको सबैभन्दा ठूलो नेपाली फ्यान।
Something has changed drasstically with this videos. It is amazing how wholesome and radiant Xiaoma got. Please Amigo, eat well. And take your Rosemary tea every morning.
Love your way. Hope we see. Namaste.
As someone from a Sylheti Bengali background, I'm surprised by how much of this I understood!
And the way they pronounce and accent things is so similar as well.
That man was so happy hearing you speak Nepali, wholesome
This is so cool!
I love your videos, makes me want to learn all these different languages too.
Finally
I have been waiting for this language
I wish the US had an appreciation for others learning English like this.
great stuff as always good nepali resturant near my house its really good
I'm learning Hindi and I can recognize some roots of words and stuff in Nepali. It's similar. It's crazy how the whole world is connected via this web of language links and we don't realize it
So cool!
04:54 is a very cool inception camera shot.
That Nepali girl with the glasses and short hair had such a great smile. I had to re-watch that part to catch the subtitles because I kept looking up at her smiling. lol😊
Thats a quite agrresive nepali right there 😅..good to u bro.
Nepalese people are amazingly friendly
You should have ended the video with a photo of your kids in their new outfits. Great video!
I swear these language videos where you connect with the local communities are the best. Exploring the mentality and behaviour of different cultures, it’s really interesting to me.
These videos always bring a smile to my face. I try my best to learn at least the basics of languages "hello, goodbye, thank you" but I don't have a natural talent for language. I think true immersion to the point where learning the language for survival is the best way to learn.
Side note, those Nepalese girls were cuuuute!
Finally i was waiting for this moment... Nepaliii wooohh
Thanks for the video! If you go to Pokhara and/or trek to Annapurna Base Camp, I hope you try to learn some Gurung words and phrases.
Need part 2
That cleanliness of that kitchen put many Asian restaurants in the Bay Area to shame, speaking as a former pest control technician, your talent for language are creating interpersonal relationships throughout our world!
Ari, represents what is right with our country. Kind, welcoming and friendly! I'm proud of him wherever he goes!
