For those of you who don’t know much about Sikhism, the reason why everything is free around the temple is because all of those shops were doing community service for the general public ,as Sikhism is about helping the community and less fortunate, and to treat all as equals.that is also why we all sit on the temple floor to eat together to show that we are all equal and to stay humble 1. The food is donated by the general public 2.food is prepared and served by the general public.((yes you too can go into a temple and do some community service, serving food or cooking to serve food for who ever sits down to eat at the temple)
Important lesson. Too many ppl get egos and think theyre better than others because they have more money. But money doesnt make you good. Serving god and others does. Atleast its a major part of it.
I will never forget when my mother got lung cancer. Her Sikh friend took me into her family home and raised me for the two years while my mother was battling cancer. I will never forget their kindness and generosity to this day I feel like part of their family.
Awesome man. Just a minor note, 'seva' doesn't actually mean free in the sense that 'it's free of charge', it's more that it's an offering and a service in the name of god/helping others, which is naturally a free gesture. All temples offer free food to all, Indian or not, it's a way of serving the community without wanting anything in return.

That's the good thing about sikhism, destroyed the hindu caste system. My ancestors who were born into lower caste had only 2 options to escape, sikhism or christianity. North Indians converted to sikh and south converted to Christian. Both living peacefully amidst hate crimes done against them by Hindu extremists.
The Sikh community in Punjab is one of the most charitable, nice to see so many of my fellow Sikh folk being as considerate to anyone as much as a visitor. My people make me proud.
Here in the US I’ve met several Sikh they are very professional and serious in their jobs they do but are friendly. I’ve heard from friends in the military that the Sikhs who’ve joined are the same. Very professional great people
Being a Sikh, reading all these kind comments makes me so proud. Thanks Xiaoma for showcasing it to the whole world. Hope you enjoyed your visit to India.🙏
Ah I love Punjabi people. I live in BC Canada, which has the highest foreign Punjab population in the world. I think there's about 1 million in Canada, which is like, a 35th of our population. Great conversationalists, you can strike up meaningful convos with Punjabi people so easily. And the women are 👌
I’ve met a Punjabi at 2am outside the city when my petrol got over . He stopped and tried everything he could think of to help me . I told him to leave me but he won’t . Since his other methods were not working he searched for a bottle around the area and filled that petrol from his tank and gave it to me . I’ll never forget the kind gesture 🙌🏽
The Sikh community exudes an unparalleled sense of friendliness and inclusivity. As a Kurd, even I am deeply humbled by their remarkable hospitality and their unyielding acceptance of individuals from diverse religious backgrounds.
The first video I saw was for mostly Mandarin. Now this one Punjabi. The more I watch, the more I am convinced that language differences put up an unfortunate barrier to proof most people are really good hearted. Thank you for these videos which surely promote world peace and understanding without resorting to politics or religion or preaching. They shine good light!
They're not good people just 'cause they smile at a stranger afraid to bring up any controversial topics like Khalistan. They smile because he doesnt' rock the boat by speaking the truth. He tells them only what they want to hear. If he were to speak truth, the Dr. Jekylls would turn to Mr. Hydes. The same goes for any other country or region. Superficially nice, but that's just a facade. Most people in the world are selfish and therefore evil. Do the Punjabis lock their doors at night? This will tell us if they trust each other.
Yes!!! I traveled to 37 different countries for work. People in general want the same few things: healthy happy life with family and friends, love and community. Yes!!!!
It’s a barrier, yeah. But at the same time, once he shows he speaks other ppls languaged, it’s so powerful! People from countries that aren’t the US or France are deeply affected, they get really happy. It shows not only respect, but consideration with the culture. It’s quite amazing.
My mother used to rent a room in our home to a man and he was Sik. He was the most nicest, generous, respectful human being I had ever met. He introduced me at such a young age to his amazing food and spices and he would often talk about his daughter and grandchild who lived in Ohio.
I remember I was taking a flight as a child soon after 9/11 to NYC. A Sikh was sitting across from me, and as an 8 year old all I could think of was "Terrorist". I stared at him for a long time, in fear. About 30 minutes into the flight he noticed me and smiled, he had a chocolate bar he had brought along and shared a peace with me. Then in perfect American English said "God bless you my friend, I get nervous on planes too." It was a very eye opening experience. God bless India and the Sikh's of the world. Truly one of the kindest groups of people I've ever met, no matter where I meet them I am always greeted well and respectfully, something i think us Americans could learn from.
It’s so wholesome to hear how you went from a negative perspective of them to a positive one. Sikhs are wonderful people and their culture is so fascinating. Nothing but Love for them 😊

@@captainmcduckyYT yup, you're definitely one of those, I believe you run around getting offended when someone criticizes the castism in your religion instead of actually fixing it, and you label those who rise to fix it as anti nationals..
This is what religion should be all about and why I think it's beautiful, and ultimately a good thing even though I'm not a believer. Unfortunately the church in my country is primarily known for pdophilia, intolerance and hoarding wealth instead of sharing it with others and even the most religious people rarely do anything charitable.
Indian religions especially newer ones like Sikhi are definitely not like any Abrahamic religions which are hardcore bent on exclusivity and trying to claim path to god as a monopoly to either one of them meaning “you will go to hell if you are not an exclusive believer of one specific religion”. Instead Sikhi teaches universal brotherhood
as a sikh the main concept and the actual word it self "sikh" just means "To Learn" in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, etc. Who are we too say a whole religion is wrong, were not God... when a sikh sees a person who is devoted to another religion they dont see them being wrong, sikhs just see another human trying to connect with the One true creator we call "God". Sikhi is about Humanity and helping those who are oppressed/voiceless no matter there religion or race. Fighting with other religions is literally pointless and Inhumane, if all major religions are about trying to connect with god and build a relationship with god, why would you be devalue yourself by being hateful and violent towards others......

The key to note is that it is part of their religious worship to make and give this food to people. Typically people are given shifts to make this food and give it to people. In many mosques during Ramadan it is the same way. Feeding people is a religious duty and the mosque typically has a rotation of guys who make the food and serve it and you don't pay for it
Wrong. Its because he's a white man and they hope that he will cut them a check for being so generous. You think he'd give anyone else around there free stuff? Lmao. Not a chance

Sikhism's one of the main practice is langar because it's is made in 1500 CE( rule of mughals in india in which many peoples were not getting food proprely) and by seeing that in a sikh temple, you made your conclusion and differentiated north with south. Good and bad peoples are everywhere in this world. If you go with majority, South indian's donate multiple times more then north for good causes like cancer hospitals and orphans which is not even part of anyone's religion. I being a north west indian can say south is most secular and un-racist rigion in India and north west is most racist place with peoples of their own country, ask a bihari or mp poor low wage worker in punjab what punjabi calls them. It actually is. Guru Nanak said it's NOT your religion that's going to save you , it's your SEVA ( service of humanity) and SIMRAN ( chanting on the name of the God to always remember Him in your heart) that's going to save you. That's why people who followed Guru Nanak were called SIKHS meaning LEARNERS. He wanted to teach people a way of living, not start a new religion as he said 'there is no Hindu or Muslim' everyone has only one identity 'human being' and all humans are equal in God's eyes.

As a Belgian we don't get to graduate our equivalent of high school if we're not fluent in our 3 national languages + English. I learnt Spanish and Italian in Film School as to not have to use subtitles but you Sir are nuts. Much respect man... much respect.
It reminds me just how many groups live in India. When I lived in Jersey City, the Journal Square area had so many Gujaratis. But I first learned about Sikhism and Punjabis after moving to Long Island and meeting someone in ninth grade who was a Sikh and came to the US from Punjab. Sikhs really are great, friendly, and hard-working people. Sikhs will always make you feel welcome, help you wholeheartedly and feed you every single time. Gurdwaras are open to everyone, food and lodging is usually always free. They go above and beyond to serve the community.
Sikhi teaches to serve humanity , because the creator can be found in all creation. It’s called the soul. And eventually the creator takes back what belongs to them. There is a non-duality. Whereas other faiths teach duality constantly and that’s where they go wrong.
I love how their religion is about harmony. Christianity is my belief, but multiple times, death and bad events are shown in the Bible (Plague of locusts, the drought in Egypt, Noah's Ark, etc.)
Sikhs are the nicest people of faith I've found so far. Their religion is very orientated towards harmony with others and it shows. I love that you are giving them exposure because you'd think the world would know more about them, but they are never talked about really.. probably because they arent ever doing anything bad.
yeah, it seems like the sikhs really practice what they preach. Jesus taught about humbleness, living without possessions, loving everyone as a sibling, etc, but the majority of christians dont follow that it seems.
Sikhi teaches that the truth is there for anyone to be found. Human beings have to gravitate to Sikhi not the other way around. The truth is only for the ones who want to find it. Our Gurbani teaches that very few souls even reach Sachkhand, where as the majority of souls are still trapped in the cycle of birth and death and captured by the Maya (devil).
@@KevinUchihaOG Jesus also said to not cast stones and to sell your cloak to buy a sword, in other words don’t start a fight, but if you find yourself in one, defend yourself. Plenty of people want to think Christians are feckless and when they retaliate everyone says “oh very christian of you” as if it’s to be an insult. Every religion teaches morals to be a good person and a servant, but also to protect yourself and brothers and sisters of the faith against those that wish to do harm, and that extends to any of the abrahamic faiths.

I drive semi trucks for a living and you'd be surprised at how many Sikh people you see out here driving trucks. I've had conversation with plenty of Sikh people over the years and I can say that they've all been very friendly people. I've taught some of them some english words too when they were struggling cause not all of them can speak English fully yet. I've never understood why some people try saying "If you come to our country speak, our language." Well with that same logic if you ever go on vacation in any other country you best be fluent in their language. Edit: I'm not saying you shouldn't learn English before you come to America. I was just using that an extreme example. If I were to move to another country I would want to learn that language as well. Don't want to be left out. But if I didn't speak it that well once I got there I'm pretty sure the locals would help me learn. You see how happy these people get when he speaks their language? Not saying we should be like that towards other people. Just saying we should try to be more understanding and help them if we can. Just be kind to people. No one's going to respect you if youre just an ass all the time.
No offense but vacation and immigration and 2 completely separate things. In the latter case you have a duty to contribute economically and socially to your new nation. Severe language barrier can mean higher unemployment. If they've been hired as truckers and are able to do that, it's great. But we've all landed in shops where people can't even respond to your questions and that can be a frustrating experience. There might not be an official language but English is obviously the de-facto national language and I think it's the least bit immigrants could do to at least try to learn the basics of it.
@@MrBlueSleeves Which most of them do. Judging whole groups based off of extremes is not a healthy practice. This was once the land of the free. The land of opportunities. So, no you don't have a duty to contribute shit. This is a free nation. They can come here and be homeless if that's what they want to do. I wouldn't encourage it but you can do what you want. That's the whole point of coming here for most people. Freedom. But then they get here and you tell them "actually you must contribute money to us and socialize" doesn't make much sense now does it? And no I haven't ever "landed in shops" where they can't understand me. Idk what you're on about. Sure they might struggle with a few words but it doesn't stop them from communicating unless there's someone like you there. Getting annoyed and mad with them like an ass.

Must be due to the turban, American propaganda has made the turban a scary thing thanks to another country that wears it. They believe whatever they hear without realizing that it's a religious thing like how christians wear a necklace with a cross and it's not necessarily Muslim, not always.
Yes Indian culture is awesome, although there are some extremist groups the nation faces due to corruption in the government and a few other issues that need to be tackled. Most of which will be resolved as India continues to raise millions out of poverty and be able to deploy needed infrastructure. Also in regards to the states, as a American I do take a bit of offense. What is seen online in the media is not representative of the hospitality that gets displayed in the US. Especially and specifically in rural America.

For those of you who don’t know much about Sikhism, the reason why everything is free around the temple is because all of those shops were doing community service for the general public ,as Sikhism is about helping the community and less fortunate, and to treat all as equals.that is also why we all sit on the temple floor to eat together to show that we are all equal and to stay humble
1. The food is donated by the general public
2.food is prepared and served by the general public.((yes you too can go into a temple and do some community service, serving food or cooking to serve food for who ever sits down to eat at the temple)

Me too. It especially contrasts some of the religious folks I encounter more regularly.

I have always admired Sikhs and their kindness and compassion. Thank you for this video!
This vid just put a smile on my face. The people were really courteous and so friendly.
I am completely blown away by the Sikhs kindness. God Bless them.
Sikh people are some of the nicest strangers I've come across. It almost like the tenent of their religion are "Be a good person".
I knew it had to be Sikhs. Some of the most pleasant, charitable and happy people. Very devout and its truly awe-inspiring. 🙏🏼
As a Belgian we don't get to graduate our equivalent of high school if we're not fluent in our 3 national languages + English. I learnt Spanish and Italian in Film School as to not have to use subtitles but you Sir are nuts. Much respect man... much respect.
Do you really have to be literally fluent?! It’s amazing! 😳🥹
So you can speak 6 languages now, can’t you?
@@mikeeforma2281 7 if you include Klingon... yeah, I'm a big old nerd. 😁
@@Erulin68 I take my hat off to you! Can speak only three + I’m learning Chinese now.
@@mikeeforma2281 Mandarin is something I'd love to learn but alas I don't have the time these days.
Jersey City represent!
I live in Jersey City that is true , I moved from Queens after the pandemic , I like this city 🏙
I am just amazed at the kindness of the people from India.
Sikhs have developed just an incredible culture. Huge respect for them.
I have meet so many hard working Sikh in indianapolis! I love them super frendly, hard working people. "Waheguruji Ka Khalsa Waheguruji Ki Fate"
Thank you
❤
Waheguru Ji!
May Waheguru Ji guide you to the righteous path.
Very beautiful religion, respectful towards all and great hospitality, warms my heart ❤️
@@KevinUchihaOG non of the mainstream ones seem to. Least not in the west.
Sikhs are certainly the real deal. Incredibly humble and kind but also fierce warriors and loyal defenders.
Honestly Ari, watching at least one of your videos daily has become part of my morning routine.
1.) To support you
2.) To increase my cultural awareness
3.). To get my daily smile seeing the true kindness in the world that you bring out of the communities you touch.
Your channel is actually what got me excited to learn a new language. 1 1/2 years later I’m still working on learning Spanish. It will be a life long journey. 😊
The wonderful Sikh people have restored my faith in humanity
this is the future no virtual reality. people from different countries who know each other and speak without prejudice and problems. Congratulations for your courage and perseverance
That community kitchen is just jaw dropping. You really need to go watch some behind the scenes stuff about it. The amount of work going into that to prepare the absolutely astonishing amount of food is something you need to see to believe. It quite literally puts any kitchen on this planet to shame.
Still one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.
Anyone can go volunteer there! I used to volunteer washing dishes at Gurudwaras as a kid. Volunteering selflessly is called Seva in Sikhism, and is part of the religion. If you want to help, they would absolutely accept your help; you probably have a Gurudwara in your city. (You'd probably be put on dishes or sweeping or serving food if you don't know how to make the food though yet lol)
I'd never heard of it until this video. Very impressive, indeed!
@@jeevandhillon00 - That sounds like you had a good volunteering experience! Thanks for sharing.
Same is true in every Hindu/Buddhist/Jain Temple in India as well as every Mosque... Sikhs are very arrogant for pretending to westerners that they are only charitable people in south asia.
Im not very religious but hearing and seeing how welcoming Sikhism is to other religions is so nice. Wish more religions were so open to the ideas from other religions around the world.
Sardars are amazing. They have the biggest hearts and they are always smiling and welcoming.
A simple thing that we Indians all know... Whenever we travel to an unfamiliar part of the country, look for a Sardar. He will help you in any way he can and not expect anything in return.
Man I got so much respect for Sikhs and Punjabi people
Xioma with your language skills and camera personality you could really have a top travel channel. Glad to see you’re going the direction. A great video series would be to throw a dart on a world map, learn the language as quickly as possible and travel their for 24-48 hours and see how well you did studying the language.
Maybe at least a week the man has a baby 😂
If the dart could go anywhere, it would probably land in the sea and he'd have to learn echolocation in 24 hours
Yeah, I'd totally watch the Xiaomanyc travel show. But he's got to lose that 360° camera!
@@mrgraff Non-intrusive, natural interactions is what his niche is all about at the moment. Not entirely certain it would work as smoothly with a separate camera, or even camera person.
You're watching it, JR. Get a grip. Cheers!
Fun fact: The USA dont have an official language
@@inducteddragoon Then you have never been or spent much time in southern Florida my friend, or for that matter the border lands of Texas.
@@stevewynn8689 I've been all over Florida multiple times. Go there all the time to haul Tropicana and Flowers. And again. Most people speak the language but not perfectly. Which is fine. Only very few people I've come across that tell me they don't speak English. But most of the time I think they're bullshitting. They just don't want to talk to me lmao they just use it as an easy excuse to ignore me.
Every Sikh person I have ever had the pleasure of talking to were such wonderful people.
Seeing the people of India, so welcoming and so sweet and giving it warms my heart, I wish all of the world were like this❤
Sikhs are such awesome welcoming people. I love their approach to life and wanting to feed anyone who is hungry.
My young daughter is learning a module in her elementary school about Sikhs and I told her about langar, she said “how is it free?” You give what you can, and if you can’t give any money you can volunteer to help serve others or help in the kitchen.

Back in my hometown of Carteret, NJ, there are a lot of Sikh's and a great place to practice. My favorite part of your videos is how complimentary you are to whatever food you try.
I am south Indian and all Indians are generous or i so like to believe but the Sikhs are heads and shoulders above the rest (and i mean that literally as well). They are the bravest (they make up about 1.7% of the Indian population but make up about 16% of men in service in Indian army, and that alone must tell you the kind of warrior class of men they belong to, an exclusive club) , most generous, kindest and most humorous people who accept everyone in general. I have never known a single Sikh who was not kind, understanding and even fun. They are truly such good people. I love my brothers in the north in them.
There’s a certain gas station here in Virginia owned by a Sikh. I always stop there. He is the nicest man! Radiates joy! Most Americans (except for the South! ☺️) sadly do not. I lived in Tehran, Iran as a child. They are so kind and welcoming also. I love watching you Arieh! God bless!
I agree that the south is bad. Full of republicans... Except for South California. I live there and it's nice. You can be from anywhere and nobody really cares. 😙
Must be due to the turban, American propaganda has made the turban a scary thing thanks to another country that wears it. They believe whatever they hear without realizing that it's a religious thing like how christians wear a necklace with a cross and it's not necessarily Muslim, not always.
IDK where in the south you are from, but the meanest people I know of are from down there.
@@ltpinecone Really? Wow. I’m talking about Georgia and Alabama. But maybe things have changed.
@@JoCaTen Yep. He always has on his turban.
Man that was beautiful! Now I need to learn Punjabi and travel to India
Their culture seems very golden, treating people like beautiful souls as opposed to how we live here in the states.
This is such a beautiful video. I love how even people with little still give you food for free out of the sheer kindness they have. Love seeing things like this. Gives me hope that the world really isnt such a bad place after all.
Seeing this makes me really respect their culture. Seems like people are genuinely happy
