I went to Lidl today and my haul was very similar to this. I also bought lots of the desiccated coconut as I was surprised it was 99p for such a large bag. I think Lidl is best overall for price & quality. I have also just started going to Farm Foods and have been amazed at some of the prices in there.
I feel so sad lately finding so many (if not all) sauces and processed items have switched from sunflower oi! to rapeseed I can smell it the moment I open a jar. It is really inflammatory. As a gardenet too, I know rapeseed is a brassica and therefore all the pests love it, meaning, it get sprayed copiously with chemicals. What I smell? Rancid oil....just take that in next time you open a tartare, mayonnaise, curry, hicken sauce etc. It is now in everything. I listened to a farmer and his daughterr who had to give up on diversifying to rape because they got severe reactions just from the plants in their fields.
Never forget what a "pick-me-up" things like the jam or the chocolate-orange spread can be in stressful conditions. Same thing with spices to dress up otherwise bland meals.
Great video Ana ❤ I was a lazy online shopper with Tescos previously....but we have been going to Lidl lately and love it. I'm always quoting Tesco prices compared to Lidl to my husband. It's not just a few pennies cheaper either... tinned stewing steak 50p cheaper etc. I bought a tin of corned beef today for £2 ish, noticed Princess corned beef over £4 now at Tescos!! Where do they usually place wthe veg boxes Ana? What a bargain. I'll be making beetroot soup with pierogi for tea tomorrow. Take care ❤
Those tomato sauce jars look good. And the microwave rices are good value. You can always find a deal or two in Lidls. Haven't seen a bargain fruit and veg box in months, it's all about timing.
Lol , fancy forgetting the sausages , Ana . I wouldn't feel too bad though , I've been there and brought the tee shirt , i'm just as bad . What beats me up , i can remember places with absolutely no problem (big part of my job) , even from years back . Some like 20 years ago , never carry a road map , that's in my head . Yet i can lose a spanner in an empty garage in an instant , and i kid you not . I've even lost my glasses while working , search for ages , and still not find them . Go in for a cuppa due to frustration , and mother will asks how i'm getting on . I tell her i've lost my glasses , ahem again , and yeah you guessed it . The next thing she says is , they're on your head . Give me strength , i've even stopped putting pencils behind my ear , because i keep losing them as well . I've noticed the dried milk as well , and the condiments are seriously hit and miss , at the minute . I'm a bit stuck for space at the minute , i really do need to have a massive sort out , and make some more . Got the power station to recharge today , yes it did arrive Tuesday . Like i said it's only a mid range unit , but for now it should be enough .
You noticed how Lidl have lowered the reduction price from 30% off to 20% off on almost out of date (though freezable ) And the 60% off has fallen to 50% on food that runs out that day . I stopped buying Hammonds chop sauce as it was £1.69 then £1.99 and now £2.15 at Morrisons ( 33% price rise ) .
If you forget your sausages again, use ribs instead! Here is my Grandmother's and Mom's recipe (possibly my Great Grandmother's they were proud of being German immigrants) for ribs and kraut: Put either pork or beef ribs in a crock pot (Mom used pork because they fit better), cut up potatoes into large chunks and layer them on top of the meat, cover them with a jar of (rinsed) kraut, cut and core some apples and put them on top, sprinkle with caraway, add a bottle or can of beer and cook a few hours on high or all day on low. Alternately, you can use a pressure cooker, but I don't like to. If you're ambitious, you can make some spaetzle while the other is cooking as a side dish or to serve it all on top of. Wine will also work instead of beer. We rarely had sausages. Country style pork chops work as does a pork roast instead of ribs as well. Only if you forget your sausages...
Your fruit and veg box looks fantastic. I got one this week sadly it was half the size of yours, had quite a few mouldy things inside and had no where near the selection yours had. I haven’t been able to get my hands on one for some time and when I did it sadly wasn’t the best.
Again, great prices! Tinned/canned, dried and boxed milks keeps climbing in the States. I'd rather have water in plastic,(even if I have to filter it), than not have it at all. I just love seeing what you have that we don't. Most of the world thinks that everything is available in the States, but that is not the case, and things vary from region to region. I am confused, being half-Italian, the term "Marinara sauce" is supposed to be made with seafood, ( same root as "marine"), but nearly everyone started using it to mean a 'meatless' sauce. This is the second time now I have heard of "Marinara" sauce that contains meatballs! Wow.That word has lost all meaning!
Marinara sauce, flavorful Italian tomato sauce made primarily with tomatoes, garlic, herbs (like basil and oregano), and olive oil. Unlike more complex Italian sauces, marinara usually doesn’ usually include meat or a long list of ingredients, making it lighter and faster to prepare. It originated in southern Italy, particularly around Naples, and is often used as a base sauce for pasta, pizza, and various Italian dishes. The term “marinara” itself comes from “marinai,” the Italian word for “sailors.” Legend has it that the sauce was created as an easy meal for sailors returning from sea since it required minimal ingredients and could be prepared quickly. But I suppose added meat just make it more appealing to the masses. Pescatora is the seafood pasta or dish . Italy has been out second home 😊
@@AnasFoodLifestyle I have to laugh, because that was not what MY Northern Italian family told me! My family would point out that "Pescatora" would be literally FISH, and Italian, as you know, has specific words. For instance, there is no way my family would say pescatora for say, clam sauce. But I will just go with it here and now.

Many thanks for keeping us up to date Ana.❤
I get tinned fruit & veg for emergencies as so cheap in aldi & Lidl. Tinned corned beef is reasonable as well

Rape seed.
I'm 66 yrs old and never heard of it in my youth.
Did scientists rape a seed to create a gm seed? Hence the name: Rape Seed.
I've ad a few boxes with mostly fruits.. I blend them up and pit in freezer 4 smoothies.
The soft fruit you can always use to make a jelly that will last in the fridge for quite a good time in the fridge
I’d suggest lots of herbs and spices, if your ever restricted by choice you’re going to want to spice up your lentils ..
i wish our lidls did veg boxes like that ,, bags of slimy salad leaves and mouldy cauliflowers seem to be the norm IF they have them
Wow, what a veg box!
I see banana pancakes with fresh berries and chocolate spread.....

That box was really good value - that would be a big dehydrator day for me 🙂
Beetroot can be used to make low fat chocolate cakes 😋😋
The items that were reduced will make great storage jars.
Great haul, Ana. I'm amazed at the price, quantity and quality of the veg box. Thanks. :)

I must say I still see 30% but I have never seen 50 or 60% locally. I assume it is location dependant maybe ?
@@AnasFoodLifestyle Our store may not have as many customers seeing more stock running out of date ? .

The Leberkäse is great at Lidl German week. No Rösti available.

There is a dish in our family called chicken surprise. The surprise in the original dish was that there was no chicken. Oops!

Nobody wants an average sausage 😂
No they don’t 😂😂
