I already had to smile at your previous Lovebites reviews: I agree with you absolutely and can also tell you a little story. In 2018 friends and I had the privilege of hearing Lovebites for the first time by accident at the Rock Festival in Wacken - we had no idea what was going on in that part of the festival on this hot afternoon, only knew that there is an all-female Matel -band from Japan and then your concert began - what happened there, well in retrospect I can say a lot! A friend - a guitarist in a local rock band - was very monosyllabic and introspective after the concert - rather unusual for him and I just wanted to buy all the Lovebites CDs that were available at the time as quickly as possible. My friend and guitarist had to be persuaded weeks after the concert to even pick up his guitar. He kept saying: if you've ever seen and heard how goddesses play, then you know how unworthy you are to play a guitar yourself (fortunately he has gotten over the shock and practices a lot more than before!) - but Watanabe Miyako and Tatematsu Midori played incredibly on this rather small stage - just as the other Lovebites also shone.
I've always particularly liked drummers, but after I saw this young, small, rather shy drummer and was able to experience her absolutely brilliant handling of the tool called drums live, since then my top 5 list has included what I consider to be the world's best drummer, the name Haruna always at the top. That timing, that speed and that consistently high level of quality, and then that stamina and power - unbelievable!
But here you can also see the entire Lovebites package - highly talented band members, with the will and the strength to transform this gift talent with countless thousands of hours of practice - every Lovebites member is an expert at the highest level and work brilliantly together as a band every stage in the world - fantastic!
If you've seen our reactions to Lovebites thus far, you know that we agree with every word you wrote here... and that we are extremely jealous that you saw them live 😉

I was devastated when I heard that Miho was leaving. I was gloomy for days. I am glad they took their time to find someone right to join them. And they did. Fami ticks all the boxes, although she is a bit tall 😂😂
Yes, Miho is absolutely awesome. We hope she made the right choice for herself and is happy doing something else right now. We got a quick look at Fami recently and she is truly just as awesome on the bass. We hope to see more of her soon and get a truer indication. Either way, it seems as though Lovebites found a worthy replacement to the legendary Miho and we look forward to covering more new (and old) songs from them on the show!

You two gentlemen are my favourite reaction duo. Everything you say is relevant, thoughtful and interesting. As a fan I differ from many of my fellow Wolfpack in that I gave my full attention to the four members who decided that Lovebites was not finished when Miho left. After all, it’s one thing for someone to leave, it’s something altogether different when that someone is the one (with Haruna) who bought in Midori, Miyako and saw in Asami something that Asami herself had never actually done…. Sing metal. So when Miho left, Asami wrote a message to the fan club which explained the upheaval of Miho leaving, that breaking up was discussed, but that she, Asami, couldn’t bear the thought of leaving metal, or the other three, and they felt the same.
So whilst I read, every day, for months on end, messages from people telling me how much they missed Miho, perhaps she might come back, I read virtually nothing in support of what I started to call “the fighting four”. This just served to push me closer to them and further away from Miho. Never once did I doubt they would return. Never once did I think that their return would be anything but an improvement. And never once did I doubt their professionalism in searching for a new band member. But they showed me more than I expected because in Fami they have given another outrageous talent an opportunity to shine, and at the same time, have been extremely supportive of her because she is so young.
Judgement Day the album will be like Painkiller was in the 90’s, only bigger. It is going to be the Sgt Pepper of metal and the distance they will put between themselves and metal in general will be measured in years.
I felt exactly as you did about Miho. She's a big girl, and for whatever reason, made the decision to leave. After that I just focused on the other four. I'm actually glad they took so much time to find a new bass player. Fami just seems like the perfect fit. It appears that the band is now stronger than it ever was. Couldn't be happier with the present line-up. However, I do wish Miho the very best in her future endeavors.

because of our fairly limited familiarity with Lovebites, (as we progress in discovering more songs, only during our reactions) we got to experience both Miho's performance and then fairly quickly, we got familiar with Fami. Both of them are insanely talented. I (Asaf) understand of course, why fans were heartbroken over Miho leaving, especially with her being one of the founders. Having said that, I can gladly say that filling the void with Fami, seems to work extremely well.

It was disappointing that Miho decided to leave, and I wish her all the best in her musical career. But with Fami, Lovebites have a better (i.e. more versatile) bassist and are a better band for it. I'm already looking forward to the album after "Judgement Day" in which we'll hear for the first time some songs co-written (and maybe even written) by Fami.
@@1970Phoenix me too. And the way they made so much of the album available individually suggests to me that the existing members have more recently written material ready to knock into shape. Fami’s first metal composition is going to be so eagerly anticipated it’s unreal.

Miho wrote her own post explaining her reasoning for leaving (sadly this post no longer exists on the Lovebites official site as they remove older posts to make room for the new ones). The anniversary of the passing of Miho's father made her reflect on her life and what she should be doing. It's obvious she needed to time to collect herself, because she did end up going back to music. She formed a metal cover band with Yoshi and Oyama Maki (both from Aldious), and Hina from Tribal Scream of Phoenix. Miho mentioned in an interview that she is content doing collabs for now but hinted at possibly forming a new band in the future.

You are not at the end of your surprises, each title or performance of Lovebites is a monument with its singularity. This band doesn't know how to make bad music or bad performances. They play at a level of perfection that is very rarely achieved in music. It's legendary, and if there was a category above that, they would be there almost alone or with a handful who are no longer of this world.
We totally agree. They are Legends in the making and will likely create a legacy for future generations to enjoy and appreciate. For us personally, we have yet to come across a single song of theirs that did not blow us away. Thank you for viewing and engaging. Much appreciated! 🙏

Judging by the 3 new songs they released so far, Fami was an excellent choice!! "Judgement Day" was the first song since the hiatus, they had to make a big statement for a comeback!!
And of course, the ladies did not disappoint, "Judgement Day" is a fantastic song and became one of my fav Lovebites songs instantly!! 🔥

A Frozen Serenade is the 2nd song from Asami, in collaboration with Mao, and is on the third full length album, Electric Pentagram. Asami's first song is Epilogue from the second full length album, Clockwork Immortality, and it has a similar feel to A Frozen Serenade. I thought, after the release of Electric Pentagram, that the Asami/Mao combo would be limited to the classy, ballad type song. Boy was I wrong. The 2021 EP Glory, Glory To The World has two Asami/Mao songs and they both are definitely not ballads. One of them, Winds of Transylvania, was written for an anime and is probably the most frenetic song in Lovebites' current catalog. Lovebites has released 3 songs from their upcoming album (about 2 weeks away) and 2 of them are Asami/Mao compositions - Judgment Day and Dissonance. Both are easily in my top 10 Lovebites songs which means they are absolute masterpieces.

From a compositional and musical structure point of view this piece is pure genius! For me it rates up there with any epic song ever written.
What Haruna does when Asami starts to sing in the final section is mind blowing.

Thanks for checking this out. There are not many true masterpieces in rock history. A dozen? Maybe twenty? I’m not talking about merely great songs. A masterpiece tells a story, taking you through a range of emotions until it overwhelms you. For classical music fans, the model is Beethoven’s 9th symphony. For something shorter and more comparable to a rock song, think of Ravel’s “Bolero”. I would name “A Day in the Life” by the Beatles; “The End” by the Doors; “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen; “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin; “Layla” by Derek and the Dominoes; the first side of “Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd; “Starless” by King Crimson; “Ghost Love Score” by Nightwish… and maybe a handful more. Few rock groups have ever produced a masterpiece, and some of the greatest never managed it. Lovebites, in five short years, have given us several. For me this rivals “Swan Song” as their greatest.
We discover more as we go along with reacting to their songs. We only expand our familiarity with the band's work during our reactions. For now, I (Asaf) can't really say what my favorite song is. Itai... watching you smile every time they show Haruna reminds me of a proud parent watching their child perform in a school production. The funny part is that I totally understand. I feel the same way about Miyako. I'm old enough to be their father (almost grandfather), and I am so proud of these young women. They went into a predominately male field of music and not only held their own, but excelled in it. I really recommend that you do "Judgement Day" next. It's a music video, has the new bassist Fami, and is their first song after their year and half hiatus. They were definitely making a statement with "Judgement Day." Many of their fans were wondering what they would be like when they came back after such a long break (and with a new band member). They answered those concerns very dramatically. Stay safe!
Hi Ralph! Good to hear from you again! Yes, I do have a soft spot for Haruna and it is much in the way you describe. I love the intensity she brings to every performance and I also sense a vulnerability there which I find endearing. Asaf and I are becoming bigger fans with every reaction video, which is so much fun! Also, "Judgement Day" IS coming soon. There are some episodes covering requests we need to get out of the way first, but we will try to release it as soon as possible. Thanks for the reaction ! Miho left the band in August 2021. For many LOVEBITES fans, this was a shock. Miho formed "her dream band" (she said this in an interview ) and left after 5 years .
The reasons for her departure can be guessed at. In her personal life, she had a tragedy that greatly affected her in later years. Plus, the Covid-19 pandemic (2020 - 2021), which suddenly hit the world, plunged many people into a depressed state.
Few facts:
- Miho's father died in August, 2018.
- In December 2018, the 2nd studio album of LOVEBITES "Clockwork Immortality" was released.
This album contains the song "Journey to the Otherside" (lyrics - Miho / music - Miho, Mao). Miho dedicated this song to her father. Miho starts crying while singing "Journey to the Otherside" at a concert (DVD/Blue-ray "Daughters of the Dawn-Live in Tokyo 2019") .
"The Final Collision" (lyrics - Miho / music - Miho, Mao), another song from this album . This song also reflects Miho's mental anguish.
- On August 15, 2021, Miho tweeted that :
" Nowplaying Journey To The Otherside - LOVEBITES (CLOCKWORK IMMORTALITY) .
Today is the anniversary of the death of my father, who was a paramedic. Three years later, I still feel lonely. I wondered if he lived in good health, he would have done everything possible to save lives during this Сorona crisis. Thanks to all the medical workers who are now fighting on the front lines." ( * translation from Japanese )
Miho was very attached to her father and this pain caused by his death accompanied her for the last three years of being in LOVEBITES.
- Two days later, August 17, 2021 Miho tweets: "Thank you so much for your support so far." And retweets the band's Official Statements .
Official statement released by LOVEBITES (basic moments) :
"Important announcement of Miho's departure and band hiatus.
To our dear fans, firstly thank you all for always supporting LOVEBITES.
Today we have to let you know that our bassist, Miho, is leaving LOVEBITES. We're so sorry to be bringing such sad news to our fans and everyone who has supported us so far.
After Miho told us she was thinking of leaving, the band and our staff held countless meetings , to find a way for her to stay. But in the end, we decided to respect Miho's wish." ( * translation from Japanese )
- In June 2018, LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer "GOLDEN GODS" Award 2018 ( London) . They were invited to perform at the world's largest rock festival of heavy music "Wacken Open Air" (Germany) and the rock festival "Bloodstock Open Air" (UK) which were to be held in August 2018. It was a chance for LOVEBITES. Especially since they were supposed to be the first all-female rock band from Japan to be invited to "Wacken Open Air" throughout the history of the festival. As a bandleader, Miho couldn't let the band, the team, the label down.
According to the tweet, Miho's father died on August 15, 2018.
LOVEBITES in August 2018 was in Europe. They have performed at:

- "Bloodstock Open Air " ( Great Britain ) - August 10, 2018

If it wasn't for Miho, there wouldn't be anything we have now called LOVEBITES. It is her vision of the future, what kind of band should be, what kind of music to play, in what direction to move, in many ways determined the success of LOVEBITES. And not only in Japan.

This is my favorit song of Ladies. Its climate brings nostalgic dreams about passing time. The visual side is beautiful of this progressive frozen, snowy, winter balland singing by angelic warm voice by Asami.
A Frozen Serenade blew our minds as well. In fact, I (Asaf) have yet to come across a Lovebites song, which didn't blow my mind 😁.

I was bummed when miho announced she was quitting. but , it is what it is. in my opinion Fami is a good replacement. Miho is Miho. she’s bad ass. but Fami is just as good.

The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from the public from all over the world and recruited a new bassist named Fami.
