Although I get that Miyako is a unicorn, I love the prowess of Midori playing those beautiful acoustic guitar lines and her blazing solo after the piano apart. The bass player tracks the guitar lines when required, otherwise plays supporting melodies. The singer floats over everything. In this song, I love her lower register, earthy sound at the beginning of the song.

I still say, Myako and Midori are the best tandam guitarists I have heard in my 72 years. Every one of them is an absolute professional. Every song they do is a classic. Impossible to pick out a favourite. ❤❤❤❤

Another masterpiece from Lovebites. My favourite band for the last 5 years.
This masterpiece will or should be looked back on in years to come as just that, one of the masterpieces of metal music history.
It is a crime that they aren't worldwide famous.
So many beautiful things happening on that stage - it's unbelievable. I must have seen and listened to this clip for at least a hundred times now, and it still takes my breath away. I've never come across a band that perfectly balanced. As for me - these ladies are the pinnacle of Metal right now.

Tylle I am with you on this. I would go as far to say they are the band I have been wanting to see since my first concert in 1980 with Motorhead, they are literally the embodiment of metal. Now we know what the holy grail looks like 😎🤟
this one could be considered a power ballad, since it brings the energy level down to a medium tempo and has more of a symphonic bent to it, even while the waling electric guitar is still front and center. This one was Asami’s brainchild - normally she just comes up with lyrics and vocal melodies, but this is the one track where she’s actually credited with the composition. “Beautiful sadness” is how describe it, with its wintry lyrics reflecting a cold and distant state of mind and a desperate longing for the hope that at least the harsh weather will help to numb the pain from an experience she hopes to put far behind her. Picture something like their classic “Imaginary”, but with much more sophisticated guitar parts, and you’ll get the idea. Asami came up with the idea to have Midori perform an acoustic guitar solo on this one - it’s an instrument that has only appeared in a small handful of their songs thus far, it’s guaranteed to get all attention. While it’s obviously a characteristically different solo from what you’ll hear on, it’s equally impressive from a technical standpoint, and it fits the song perfectly on an emotional level, as if you can start to picture life springing forth as the hard, icy ground begins to thaw. The piano provides a nice segue in and out of the gentle bridge section, after which the song takes a hard turn toward more aggressive territory, roaring back to life with heavy riffs and a galloping rhythm that leads to a syncopated jam session with some exquisite soloing on the electric as the song comes to its exciting end.

Yup, this is why they are my favorite band, hands down. Love this song and love the softer side in the middle with the piano and acoustic and Asami dancing.
Since Electric Pentagram came out in winter, Asami wanted a sad winter ballad. Asami knew she wanted to include acoustic guitar on the track. Miyako recorded the acoustic guitars, Live Midori has to play it , because Miyako is busy on piano!
The base for those amazing guitarists to shine is the absolute phenomenal rythm section Haruna and Miho. And now even better with the new basist Fami.
I never stop being amazed about this little 4'9" nuclear powered Lady Haruna san om drums.
Many just talks about her stammina and just goin on the drums. But her fills and dexterity and just being such a tasteful and melodious drummer is not to be underestimated either.
Offcourse I am colorured.
But how many other metal bands.
Male or female.
In our current time have all the gifts that these ladys have in the same group...
Cant think of any band with the same skillset in songwriting, technical skills on their separate instruments, never ever doing a bad live show and its allways absolute top noch live sound and staging, never made a bad song or a bad album. Lookin absolute gorgeous, being super humble and ..and.. well I can go on. But in our current time I cant come up with a single other metal band that match their standard.....
These Lady's are adored over the world and it's not suprising that the latest album is ranked as one of the best metal albums of 2023....

When I got ready to see Lovebites for the very first time, Holy War, I had no idea how good they are. I saw them recommended in the comments section of a Baby Metal video. My first thoughts were they might be more like Baby Metal but as they got into Holy War Asami let loose that first long note and they launched into a very heavy riff that made me sit up straight and turn the volume up more. Then Miyako came with her solo and I had to pause it at the end of her solo and look them up in Wikipedia. I just had to know more about them. Then Midori belted her solo and I knew this whole band was something very special indeed. Been stricken ever since.❤😊

Just great review. Yes, Miho the bassist is playing phenomenal line here. She plays orthodox style but has all that a metal bassist needs. They say all the influences they got from older bands which is totally fine explaining how they have become Lovebites, but I hate those just say "Hey, this is Dragonforce" or any other bands. They got influences but they aren't a copy band, nor just an old fashioned patchwork band like Sha-na-na. This song shows how they developed their style and developing the new horizon of metal, no other bands play like this. They should be a landmark in the history of metal.

That's what I'm talking about Bob, THANK YOU!! They are really something aren't they!! There really are no words to describe how talented they are. I've never seen anyone harmonize like Miyako and Midori in all my years of listening to music. It's one thing to harmonize but it's another to do it at that speed, just next level. You've only got 48 more Lovebites songs to go! 🙂 Not to mention they just announced their new bassist in Oct so new music on the way (hopefully soon!). I am glad that you returned to Lovebites. A Frozen Serenade, like Swan Song, is from their most recent full album called Electric Pentagram released in early 2020. It is composed by Asami in collaboration with Mao and Asami wrote the lyrics. About a week after you uploaded your Swan Song reaction, Lovebites announced their new bassist. Her name is Fami and she is only 20 but started a TH-cam channel when she was 15 or 16. Her ability on the bass earned her a large following and her channel now has more than 650,000 subscribers (including me). She has no background in metal that I know of and her bass style is very much on the funky side. She definitely has the talent and her following will be very helpful in growing the Lovebites fanbase. I will be very interested how Miyako takes advantage of her style in future compositions. Here is a video from Fami's channel that shows her performing in a concert setting. Give it a watch (not for reaction purposes). I am curious how you think her style will fit with Lovebites. Rock is a format that doesn't lend itself to true masterpieces. In my view, a masterpiece requires beautiful composition, multiple musical ideas, and virtuousic playing. Even some of the greatest bands of all time never had one. Lovebites have given us a half dozen in five short years. Thank you for coming back to them.

Midori - guitars, backing vocals (2016-present) (blonde ponytail)
Miyako - guitars, keyboards, backing vocals, main composer (2016-present) (dark hair)
Asami - lead vocals, piano; writes a lot of the lyrics (2016-present)
Fami-bass (just joined the band in Sept. 2022, master of slap and shred bass)
Former member: Miho - bass, backing vocals, founder and bandleader (2016-2021) wrote some of their thrashier songs, eg. Thunder Vengeance
Dream Theater and Symphony X have done all that. Now we have Lovebites, but Miyako still has not written her magnum opus yet. I know she will.

Hello. I’m a retired band teacher but still very active performer. I really enjoy your reactions and comments. I come from a rock and classical background and have also kept into the world music scene for over 20 years.
Coming across all these amazing all female rock and metal bands reignited my passion for these genres. I’m sure many people on here will give you amazing songs and groups to check out. Sometimes my tastes can be far more eclectic than most so I hope I can steer you to some lesser known groups.

As for me, I taught band in a small city in northern British Columbia, Canada. I also played with the symphony there for over 20 years. I’m currently in the SE corner of British Columbia and play with a few orchestras.
Next you should react to their song "Edge of the World". More of Miyako's piano 🎹 (she's a classically trained pianist from age 3!!!) And absolutely mind blowing vocals from Asami!!!!!!! She literally brings me to tears and I've listened to this song at least a hundred times (and I'm being conservative in that estimate!!!) And I know it's coming but no good!!! In my opinion, in the music videos for these three songs, Miyako&Midori seem to play slightly more complex or slightly longer solos than in Live.
Also, Asami keeps her high tones more beautifully in her music videos than in her LIVE performances.
The girls will recreate these three songs, which would be difficult to recreate in a music video, as tightly as possible in Live.

Some people say that they’re from another planet. Yes, they’re exceptional musicians. This song is another masterpiece by amazing Lovebites. If you want heavy stuff, I suggest “Break the wall” or “Shadowmaker”; if you want nice guitars, nice piano and nice vocals, then I recommend “Empty daydream” or “Epilogue”. All live.

Yes, pregnancy definitly don't stop japanese metal musicians to perform on stage - Miyako here, Mayu (Nemophila's singer) at the Aftershock festival last month, Tamu (Nemophila's drummer) in many videos. Strong women.
@@realdocloco Well, it did stop Yuko Suzuhana. She had to come off their tour, because of her pregnancy. She's on maternity leave now. Her baby is due in December.
Once you get a few songs into their catalogue, you'll realize that Midori and Miyako are 50/50 on their leads. There are a few songs where Miyako is the primary lead, and a few where Midori is the primary lead, but with most songs they are evenly split. Miyako is a blues-based guitarist and tends to play the more bluesy, slower and more melodic leads (she's classically trained on piano, though). Midori is a classically-trained guitarist, and usually plays the faster, shreddier and more technical leads.
As you repeatedly say, Bob, " *Nothing, that these ladies do here, is easy* ." *Nothing* . They just let it *look* easy - which is art by itself. I simply know that (like you do) by own experience. These ladies deliver mind-blowing excellence, even absolutely sychronized, and even at top speed. 😳In my opinion, Lovebites is incomparable.
Personally, I am also a fan of "Iron Maiden", but they (I.M.) definitely are a different "kettle of fish". From "Maiden", I get the best story-telling Metal for my taste, but from Lovebites I get ... "something else". 😁

IMHO Signs of Deliverance has the most mind blowing dual guitar section they have done. M&M are going to go down as one of the greatest dual guitar pairing of all time. That show for some reason Haruna's China cymbals really cut through more than other shows. Haruna is like the return of Keith Moon but with more control and better timing.

In case you haven't heard already, Lovebites will be releasing a new album on February 22 called Judgment Day. Makes me think they had been working with their new bassist, Fami, for awhile prior to the official announcement. My guess, and hope, is that they will spend part of the summer in Europe during festival season and follow it with a US fall tour.
Oh man I didn’t know thanks for telling me. I’ll keep my eye out for that and man I hope they come close to me. They would be awesome to see.

Metal they're not, but Miku and Co., are one of the best straight up hard rock bands I've heard in a lot of years. They've got the chops, the songwriting, and the stage presence to own the planet eventually, and it appears they're well on their way to doing just that. :D
It's scary and exciting how many good musicians and ensembles are coming off of those tiny little islands these days. The talent-per-square-meter measure is off the charts compared to the overproduced, overhyped, underwhelming pablum coming out of the major labels Stateside. So mad props to you, Japan; keep cranking out the awesome music!

Someone jokingly suggested that Miyako and Midori have their brains connected by Bluetooth, because their synchronised guitar playing is so flawless. An amazing example of this is the twin solo on Signs of Deliverance (Five of a Kind DVD, 2020). When the stage lighting turns red, be prepared to wire up your jaw to prevent it dropping onto the desk. 😊😅

Welcome to the world of Lovebites! Midori is the other guitarist, and Miho is the Bassist here, she was replaced by Fami late last year or very early this year. Asami is the Vocalist and Haruna is the Drummer. Miho and Haruna founded the group. Miho decided she wanted to go in a different direction from what I've read, and resigned. The remaining ladies took the Covid period to regroup and posted for the open bass position. Maybe Unleash the archers. But in my opinion UTA lacks the good basist and a musical drummer as Haruna.
UTA does have the advantage of Brittney Slayes. With her remarkable voice. But as a whole band i think Lovebites is just in an own league.
Especially with their latest album and the new basist Fami.
It will be interesting thus to hear UTA s album that will be released in the future...
As said before Lovebites latest album is ranked as one of the best powermetal/trash albums of 2023...

I consider myself a fortunate man. The Earth is Billions of years old and I got lucky enough too be in a Time Where I experienced EVH, Rhoads,Vai and Midori and Miyako. Thank You Universe.

Just so you know I’d recommend the one where main singer is shirtless, should be the first one to pop up if you do want to react to this one. I like the way they preformed this one better although it’s shorter.
