Yularen was by far the most successful individual military mind that both the Republic and the Empire had, and while his death the Death Star was tragic it was always a reminder that sometimes good men fight in the wrong side of the war. Yularen is a very different individual one would expect from the snobbish military leaders, and one could even compare him to Tarkin, but unlike his counterpart he was extremely sympathetic to us, because we see him help Jedis during the Clone Wars, and help sponsor Thrawn rise to Grand Admiral.

TBH he might have been the most successful in the republic, but the most successful, the brightest, the smartest, most militaristic mind in the empire was without a shadow of a doubt, Grand Admiral Thrawn

While normally yes, the AT-TE is surprisingly well suited for such a role, of an impromptu boarding craft or surprise gun platform there, given it being able to seal to vacuum and have its legs magnetize to starship hulls and into the surface of asteroids.
However, in general, Skywalker's strategies are in most too wild to have been able to have succeeded from anyone else

With what said in this video, the relationship between Anakin Skywalker and Admiral Yularen reminded me of the relationship between Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo in the MCU. As Ancient One said, they both needed each other to work as a team to defeat the Zealots just like how Anakin and Yularen needed to work together to win a battle.

After those are concluded, I’d love to see CIS counterparts such as Sevrence Tann, Pors Tonith, and Dua Ningo. As a bonus, maybe include videos on terrible commanders on both sides like Kendel Ozzel? All these would be great in the future. 👍

I still love how Yularen's role in TCW is a result of Filoni not reading enough West End Games and other early stuff to know he was ISB and not a Grand Admiral. And having to fix things after the fact with cool new stories. Much like The Maw black hole cluster and other things around Kessel were made because people took Han talking about Parsecs as if they were a measure of time rather than distance to trick a simple farmboy as the truth and decided they needed navigational hazards to make plotting a shortcut and having the engine power to make it actually important.

I always liked Yularen. He's one of my favorite TCW characters & I agree he's underrated. He may not be a flashy Jedi, but it's his support that enables the flashy Jedi to succeed. So he's actually one of the most important characters. It was his knowledge & discovery of Trench that made it possible for Anakin to get past him & deliver relief to Christophsis and save Senator Organa, then he managed the chaotic battle w/the rest of the blockade after that and was able to win thanks to constant reinforcements (which was a crucial victory given that capturing the planet would've enabled the Separatists to attack Kamino & destroy the Republic's source of troops). He was the one who brought Ahsoka to Obi-Wan & Anakin. He provided crucial air support backup on Teth that helped the Republic win & ultimately saved Jabba's son, which was crucial for the Republic war effort as the return of his son gave the Republic access to Hutt-controlled space. He kept tabs on transmissions, which may be boring as far as plot goes but it enabled crucial events to take place, such as when he alerted the others that the all clear signal stopped transmitting from Rishi which enabled them to thwart Grievous' invasion of Kamino & rescue Rex, Cody, Fives, & Echo, and also when they got a transmission from the Malevolence which he correctly guessed to be Padme, so that the others could rescue her. He provided necessary cover fire on the Separatist fleet at Saleucami so Anakin could sneak in and rescue Eeth Koth. He provided equally necessary support in the blockade of Kamino for Anakin & Obi-Wan and alerted the ground command when the Separatists had broken through, crucial actions that helped save the most crucial planet to Republic interests. He helped Ahsoka regain her confidence after her screwup over Ryloth and OK'd her plan that broke the blockade & got relief to the Twileks. He was the one who found Ahsoka, Anakin, & Aayla after the crash, otherwise the 3 of them would've been lost. His careful management of the planet-wide battle at Geonosis made it possible for the Republic to win and eliminate a major Separatist droid foundry. It was the information he discovered on Dooku and "Enigma's" whereabouts that enabled the Council to rescue Vos (and discover he'd turned to the dark side). He ran the bio-scan that determined the Togruta colonists were missing, prompting the others to go to Zygerria to rescue them.
I loved his dynamic w/Anakin of a crazy teenager who somehow gets results vs. level-headed adult who facepalms at Anakin's crap but also admires it. Though he was understandably frustrated w/Jedi recklessness, he admitted when Anakin's methods worked, respected the chain of command, and didn't straight-up hate the Jedi as many other admirals did. Ahsoka's disobedience nearly got him killed, but he forgave her and backed her up when others doubted her. He had every right to be pissed off and tell this brash 14-year-old to stand down, but he supported her when she needed it and saw the potential in her suggestion, willing to go along w/yet another risky Jedi move b/c he understood that it could work. He always took the high road and didn't hold grudges or let his personal feelings get in the way. He was always professional and wasn't so rigid that he couldn't admit when someone else was right. Even when he disagreed w/Anakin's boarding move he asked if there was anything he could do to help with it. Even came all the way down from the bridge just to wish Ki-Adi-Mundi good luck, only to be blown off with "There is no such thing as luck."
Imagine if he ever found out Vader was Anakin: "Are you kidding me? I'm STILL stuck with you?" He'd probably just give it all up and retire on the spot lmao.
Honestly if he knew the truth about Order 66 and Palpatine, he wouldn't have stayed with the Empire. He was deceived like so many others.

I know admiral yularen's first appearance is in episode 4, but I think that is a bit unfortunate, hear me out, in the clone wars he is always displayed as a lawfull good kinda guy, although driven crazy by anakin he was always loyal to him, so I don't really see how he would hate the jedi, his later portrayal kinda did him dirty, if he was not on the deathstar surely he cluld be portrayed as joining the rebelion in rebels, and other empire era material, fuck it he could have escaped the death star in a n escape pod and have a revelation about how the empire is evil, that kinda mental gymnastics is mothing new to star wras

A great hero of the Republic, but like many of those great heroes he sided with the Empire willingly and thus he became the enemy, sorry Yularen I like you, but not enough to show you any mercy with how much a despise the Empire and anyone crazy enough to support it.

It would be cool if you could add some sources to your videos. Important episodes, comics or books for the characters. You clearly have to go over them with each of your videos, so why not bringing them?
It's specially confusing because many times you mix very different sources: Legends with cannon, modern games with old games, etc... And you not always address it properly in my opinion.
