9:05 A small detail that a lot of reactors miss, is that the team shown here is the same one TFS used in their Emerald Nuzlocke. Which is infamous, due to them wiping at Winona, which by itself isn't bad, but they tried to hide the fact that they wiped in the final release. But the audience knew something was up, since when they started the battle with her, one of their Pokémon was mysteriously a level higher, after people pointed that out, TFS had to make a video telling the truth that they wanted to tell the story they wanted told. Most accepted that reason, but people (like myself) still find it a little scummy that they tried to hide it in the first place, but thankfully, they haven't done anything like that since. 13:40 Okay. So basically the way it usually works is that when the enemy has more Pokémon, the level of their Pokémon goes down so it’s more fair for the player. However since this was a little later in the game, the level was the exact same as the gym leader.
Dude! Go for it! Nuzlockes are fun but brutal on the emotions once you get attached to the little guys. Oh Ari is the name of her pet bird who is basically a toddler taken bird form
oh~ trust me: it's not easy. gotta worry about when to level up and be careful where you level up as well as when to use a party member as a scape goat. her other videos show this so much more but yeah it's a fun little experiment but it can be rough if you go in with the expectations of playing like it's a normal playthrough.
I recommend trying a Nuzlocke of your own. The rules I play by are: - You may only catch the first Pokémon on each route (the standard catching rule), with exceptions. If you've already caught that Pokémon, or something in its evolutionary line, you may bypass it and catch something else (This is known as Species Clause). - Obviously, the Pokémon that faint are dead and may not be used again. Personally I throw these in a box labeled "Graveyard" but some people prefer to release them. My special rule here is that items held by dead Pokémon are "buried" with them and may not be retrieved. - Event Pokémon are separate from Route Pokémon. For example, HG/SS has The Lake of Rage, which contains one guaranteed-encounter Shiny Gyarados. This Gyarados may be caught in addition to your first real encounter in the area. This also includes Egg Pokémon given to you by NPCs (but you may not breed your own Pokémon in Daycares, etc. to receive more Pokémon for the run). - Shiny Clause: If you find a shiny Pokémon, you may catch and use it. - Legendary Ban: You may not catch or use a Legendary Pokémon unless forced to, for example the railroaded capture of Eternatus in Sw/Sh. Personally, I recommend Nuzlocking Pokémon Black/White, Platinum (not Diamond or Pearl), or Sun/Moon. Games created prior to Generation 4 (Diamond/Pearl) such as Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Ruby or Emerald have simplified battle systems that I personally dislike, but it doesn't make them bad games. I recommend Platinum over D/P because of the extended Pokémon availability; for example, Diamond and Pearl only have *one* wild Fire-type in the form of Ponyta, while Platinum has several other options (Houndour, Eevee -> Flareon, and Magmar come to mind).
For context on why Jaiden named her Spearow Ari, she has a pet bird named Ari. She jokingly named it that since the description read along the lines of aggressive and screams when hungry. Hope this helped!!
Haaa, dude this just made my day. Jaiden's nuzlocke videos are what got me into playing pokemon for the first time... in my 30s. These games are ADDICTIVE.
Nuzlockes are really fun and challenging, I highly recommend it if you haven't tried it out (Side note: Nuzleaf is Grass/Dark and has a 4x weakness to Bug type moves)
13:51 See Duck? This is why you respect Crobat. It is AMAZING. I just used one in my Pokemon Legends Arceus playthrough and it was beautiful. Shout out to you, Nash the Crobat.
So fun fact about 9:05 . I personally wanna say that it's actually kinda a little reference to TeamFourStar. They've also done, I believe so, some Pokémon Nuzlockes. And I wanna say that was actually their own team around this gym. So Yea, don't know 100% but if it was, definitely a fun little Easter egg.
as someone who's attempted over 50 nuzlockes, and only won 5, It's difficult, lemmie tell you Also, Ari is the name of her bird, so thats the reason for the name,
Okay, you asked about Double team’s effects, so I’ll give you a crash course. In Pokémon, the speed stat is used primarily to calculate who goes first. Whether moves hit or not depend on two different stats. Evasion and Accuracy. Accuracy is how likely a move is to hit, while Evasion dictates how often a Pokémon is able to dodge an attack. Double Team raises the evasion stat. If the evasion stat is boosted high enough, the Pokémon is nearly bullet proof unless the enemy has a way to work around it. A lot of competitive players think the tactic of spamming double team is so over powered, that it has been banned from tournaments.
Jaiden thought Maxie's Pokémon might be at lower levels than Tate and Liza's, with the possible exception of his ace, because the two Pokémon used by Tate and Liza are one Pokémon for each of them. Trainers with one Pokémon have them at higher levels than trainers in the same area with multiple, for balancing reasons.
Nuzlockes can be a lot of fun, but they can also be very hard if you don’t have a lot of knowledge on the rules and general game knowledge. Because each Pokémon game have different mechanics and the more later ones were more mainstream focused for a wider audience. And remember, Nuzlockes are SELF-IMPOSED rules. Meaning it’s up to you to remember how certain things are supposed to work and what types of nuzlockes you want to do. And yes, there are different types of Nuzlockes you can do.
I REALLY enjoyed playing ORAS a few years ago. I have a system of catching at LEAST every Pokémon in the gen before national every game, and create a full team for each starter. And gen 3 has some REALLY fun Pokémon to set up teams for. And the fights and presentation of the gen 3 games is VERY fun. Also remakes. They DID remove Battle Frontier in remakes that people are BEGGING to come back one day, but Pokémon keeps deciding they don’t need a mode for the best players when the rpg is INCREDIBLY complicated and full of math. I got that MOSTLY down about 3-4 years ago and now actually have a great deal of variety under my belt. But I had to stop playing current Pokémon a bit for budget reasons. And I think the new gen 4 games will be my last for a good while. (Which did NOT disappoint me due to post game being a DELIGHT even without the battle frontier) Jaiden’s story telling playing these 3 nuzlockes are OUTSTANDING. And her regular stories are great too. She’s not afraid to share with the class despite being such an introvert. She’s one of TH-cam’s most popular animators for a reason.
Yeah i started uploading pokemon red with the express purpose to practice for a nuzlock. Always saw the game variant but i hadnt been interested in pokemon in almost 20 years. Im actually excited to finish it to start the nuzlock
I think the “it doesn’t go down?!?” Was because trainers in general if they have only one Pokémon (or two in Tate and Liza’s case) she assumed (I think) that because Maxie had more Pokémon that the levels would be a bit more distributed. I woulda done the same.
"How are you supposed to level up in Pokemon if you have to capture all of them?" Firstly, you don't have to. Second, just keep going into random encounters. It's not like there's an encounter limit in the games. As for Nuzlockes specifically, you can only catch the first encounter per route, sometimes the first NEW encounter, but you can still battle and ko wild Pokemon on those routes.
Fitting i go from alpharad nuzlocke 1 to alpharad nuzlocke 2, to collab nuzlocke, to the final nuzlocke Jaiden does BEFORE I see the first and second attempts.
I've personally completed six Nuzlockes up to this point. I only won two of them, I failed the other four. They can be pretty difficult if you aren't very prepared and very cautious. It's also worth looking up other rules and exceptions to rules if you plan to attempt one for yourself.
My Lockes bring nothing but misery. Last one I did was a Monotype run, where you only use 1 type, with Electric types in Pokemon Sword. For the most it was going fine only 3 casualties, but then got to the final route and for some reason was filled with crap ton of Ground type users so I finished the route with only 3 surviving part members. Yea losing most of your team before the Elite4 or in Swords case, The Champion Cup is the absolute worse. Also 9:05 is referencing the Nuzlocke TeamFourStar did for Pokemon Emerald.
You should definitely react to her other Pokemon videos. And ZipZapZop managed to survive that Earthquake thanks to killing all those Marills during training. They gave it HP EVs, meaning it was bulky enough to barely take it.
Jaiden is an awesome animator and nuzlocks are fun if you’re wanting a challenge. And since you’re reacting to Pokémon stuff now there are other videos I’d recommend: Jaiden’s Platinum Nuzlock Jaiden’s 2-person Nuzlock Alpharad’s First Nuzlock Alpharad’s Randomized Nuzlock Alpharad’s Can you beat Emerald with only Mudkip video SmallAnt’s Platinum No Damage challenge Each of these videos are highly entertaining.
I'd totally suggest checking out more of Jaiden's stuff and i'm quite sure shes ok with it since theres alot of reaction vids to them Ari is pet Jaiden's irl pet bird(a green cheeked conure to be precise).Checkout the Ari birthday videos to see burb cutness in both animation and action. She only trying to catch the 1st encounter she finds in each route/area, anything else is fought to lvl up. For the most part she dose the animations herself, but she has had people to help her with some of them. She only recorded the gameplay for this video, but on the next one she did live stream it.
Even though Jaiden did a Nuzlocke, some rules and Moves might go on Deaf ears (along with some battles) Double Team: It raises your Evasion Stat by 1 Stage (Up to 6) Now get in the box!: Jaiden plays by No Legendaries Rule Norman and Winona: These 2 are the hardest gym leaders in a Gen 3 Nuzlocke due to Norman's 2 Slaking, and Winona's Altaria Ari the Tailow/Swellow: thats Jaiden's IRL Bird 10:41 : THIS IS WHATS KNOWN AS EV TRAINING FOLKS! (its the process of killing a certain pokemon so many times that 1 stat becomes a lot stronger) (which in this case because Marill gives HP EVs, Jaiden's ZIPZAPZOP got 2 HP EVs to survive this close call!)
Alpharad mentioned you on stream recently. He said that Jaiden and him loved watching you learn about Pokemon nuzlocks through watching their videos. So, I had to check you out for myself!
I personally recommend either Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald or ORAS as the first Nuzlocke experience. I just believe they refined some of the mechanics in the Hoenn games without too many drawbacks, like being too easy or too difficult or having other annoyances.
nuzlockes are actually pretty damn hard. You can go in there casually but you'll probably lose a lot of your Pokemon. You really kind of have to study learn move typing of different Pokemon if you don't already know them and try to plan out what you're going to do. Because you could get to a point where you were in the Pokemon League fighting the champion and you just have nothing to contend with her final Pokemon and she wipes your team. Which if you go by the rules of a nuzlocke, that pretty much means you have to start back at the beginning
2:44 You have to attempt to catch the first one you find on a new route, should it faint before catching it, that whole route is off limits for catching any more & you have to wait for the next route you enter 9:12 It took revenge for its murdered family Rest in peace, to the fallen team
It depends on the rules the player sets for themselves. I've seen some players doing more casual Nuzlocks keep going until they catch a Pokemon on a route. Like, if the first Pokemon they encountered was Zigzagoon and they accidentally knocked it out. Then they would basically keep going around that route until they caught a Zigzagoon on that route. Players doing more hardcore Nuzlocks make it so the first Pokemon they encounter on a route is the ONLY Pokemon they can catch on that route and if they accidently knock it out, then they just can't catch a Pokemon on that route anymore and any other Pokemon they encounter on that route is solely for battling/EPX grinding. Other players also use the whole Dupes Clause rule where if say their first Pokemon they encounter on a route was a Zigzagoon that they caught and then the first Pokemon they encountered on a different route was another Zigzagoon, then they didn't have to catch it since they already had one and the next Pokemon they encountered on that route that wasn't a Zigzagoon would become their catch of that route instead.
9:08 Fun fact, that is actually from Team Four Star's Nuzlocke of Pokemon Ruby. Yeah, they did one and they got DESTROYED by Winona's Altaria, and the viewers voted to give them a retry. So that was actually their team at the time. Jaiden has 2 more of these videos. A Platinum Nuzlocke and a two player Nuzlocke. Also, Ari is the name of Jaiden's pet bird.
@@SImrobert2001 I don't remember people being too mad about it. Some folks called them out, and they bluffed a bit, but it was mostly fine? “I have played this.” Drat. I can’t bombard you with lore if you played it. I guess I can go into it’s place in the timeline. According to Toshinobu Matsumiya, Ruby Sapphire and Emerald, as well as the remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, take place at the same time as the Gen 1 games (Red Green Blue Yellow) the GBA remakes (FireRed Leafgreen) and *before* the Switch remakes of Yellow (Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go! Eevee!). You want to know how all of these happen at the same time? Well... the newer games pretty much confirmed a Pokémon multiverse since it’s a literal plot point but I don’t know whether or not it applies to every Pokémon version as I haven’t seen anybody who works on the games confirm that yet so it’s still a theory at this time.
15:00 to be honest with you I take as long as I need to, to not use the master ball I've spent upwards of 2 hours before trying to catch the first legendary, because normally the bigger legendary comes out later. Like with Groudon I'd catch him with ultra balls or something like that and I'd save the master ball for Rayquaza. Hell sometimes I'd even give myself a challenge and try to catch him with ultra balls. It just depends
The only game I truly saved my Master Ball specifically for was Deoxsys in ORAS. Because how it goes is you make your way to the top of Sky Pillar and battle Rayquaza (can save right before you battle) and once you catch Rayquaza, you immediately go into a cutscene where you fly into space on Rayquaza to destroy an incoming meteor. And once you destroy it, Deoxsys pops out and instantly battles you. The most recent save you can make is before you battle Rayquaza so if you accidently knock out or run from Deoxsys, then you're screwed on getting it unless you refight the Elite 4 all over again and find it waiting on top of Sky Pillar.

If you think that was tough you should watch a randomizer sun and moon nuzlocke that is a very tough to nuzlocke cause sun and moon don't have technically gym leaders they have totem pokemon and a trainer of the totem in the area and this is where it gets super tricky cause when you face a totem pokemon they get this aura that buffs a stat so it can get a buff in it's defense or offense so that makes it insane in a randomizer especially for the later totems cause then all their stats get buffed special attack defense etc so you can face ho oh with with double stat buffs

Dude!
Ari is basically Jaiden's pet bird that screams and eats.
I recommend trying a Nuzlocke of your own. The rules I play by are:
- You may only catch the first Pokémon on each route (the standard catching rule), with exceptions.
I would recommend also watching Alpharad's "How I Survived My First Nuzlocke." That one's a lot of fun, and inspired me to do my first Nuzlocke.
For context on why Jaiden named her Spearow Ari, she has a pet bird named Ari. She jokingly named it that since the description read along the lines of aggressive and screams when hungry. Hope this helped!!
5:27 "I need a squishy sound effect"
** C R A S H **
Haaa, dude this just made my day. Jaiden's nuzlocke videos are what got me into playing pokemon for the first time... in my 30s. These games are ADDICTIVE.
Oh, also will you be watching her other two nuzlocke vids?
@5:25 "Needed a sound effect here, needed a squishy sound effect -"

Ladies, gentlemen, and others; C O M E D Y
Nuzlockes are really fun and challenging, I highly recommend it if you haven't tried it out
(Side note: Nuzleaf is Grass/Dark and has a 4x weakness to Bug type moves)
Jaidens way of story telling is so great.
13:51 See Duck? This is why you respect Crobat. It is AMAZING. I just used one in my Pokemon Legends Arceus playthrough and it was beautiful. Shout out to you, Nash the Crobat.
I will still refuse
So fun fact about 9:05 . I personally wanna say that it's actually kinda a little reference to TeamFourStar. They've also done, I believe so, some Pokémon Nuzlockes. And I wanna say that was actually their own team around this gym. So Yea, don't know 100% but if it was, definitely a fun little Easter egg.
I do like that Jaiden showed TFS’ nuzlocke team getting stomped by Altaria like they did in the ‘dark timeline’
Jaiden used to do everything herself, but over time she's done more videos like this that had full teams working on them.
That’s really great for her!
Now here's a fun fact I think you'll like. At 9:06 that is Team Four Stars Emerald nuzlocke team. I think you'd probably enjoy their Nuzlockes.
as someone who's attempted over 50 nuzlockes, and only won 5, It's difficult, lemmie tell you
Also, Ari is the name of her bird, so thats the reason for the name,
I really enjoyed this reaction do the rest of hers there so good
Okay, you asked about Double team’s effects, so I’ll give you a crash course.
Fun Fact: The team jaiden used as an example for getting sweeped by Winona's Altaria actually belonged to TeamFourStar on their Nuzlocke of this game.
It’s pretty much okay that you react to her stuff, she’s pretty chill.
If you are interested Team Four Star did their own Nuzlocke its longer series than DBZ Abridged but its full of both funny and sad moments
love Jaiden. i never watched her stuff that much before she and Internet funny-man Alpharad became friends, but i'm glad they did
I REALLY enjoyed playing ORAS a few years ago.
(Which did NOT disappoint me due to post game being a DELIGHT even without the battle frontier)
Jaiden’s story telling playing these 3 nuzlockes are OUTSTANDING. And her regular stories are great too. She’s not afraid to share with the class despite being such an introvert. She’s one of TH-cam’s most popular animators for a reason.
It's beautiful what a great story glad you enjoy it
i got introduced to nuzlockes by TFS and their playthroughs and boy is it the most fun way to play pokemon
Love jaiden’s channel. Glad you did this.
Love Jaiden’s stuff, highly recommend.
Also wouldn’t mind seeing the asdf movies in the future
Watching these nuzlock videos makes me want to play ths bew pokemon games but then I remember I dont have those new systems
"How are you supposed to level up in Pokemon if you have to capture all of them?"
Firstly, you don't have to.
You can only catch the first encounter on a route but can grind as much as you want unless you're playing a Hardcore Nuz.
Well, this is a surprise 😁
Love Pokemon, love Jaiden. Let's Go!
Ari is a bird she owns. She made a Video about him too.
And since you’re reacting to Pokémon stuff now there are other videos I’d recommend:
Jaiden’s Platinum Nuzlock
Jaiden’s 2-person Nuzlock
Alpharad’s First Nuzlock
Alpharad’s Randomized Nuzlock
Alpharad’s Can you beat Emerald with only Mudkip video
SmallAnt’s Platinum No Damage challenge
Each of these videos are highly entertaining.
I'd totally suggest checking out more of Jaiden's stuff and i'm quite sure shes ok with it since theres alot of reaction vids to them
Ari is pet Jaiden's irl pet bird(a green cheeked conure to be precise).Checkout the Ari birthday videos to see burb cutness in both animation and action.
She only trying to catch the 1st encounter she finds in each route/area, anything else is fought to lvl up.
For the most part she dose the animations herself, but she has had people to help her with some of them.
She only recorded the gameplay for this video, but on the next one she did live stream it.
Even though Jaiden did a Nuzlocke, some rules and Moves might go on Deaf ears (along with some battles)
Double Team: It raises your Evasion Stat by 1 Stage (Up to 6)
Now get in the box!: Jaiden plays by No Legendaries Rule
Norman and Winona: These 2 are the hardest gym leaders in a Gen 3 Nuzlocke due to Norman's 2 Slaking, and Winona's Altaria
Ari the Tailow/Swellow: thats Jaiden's IRL Bird
10:41 : THIS IS WHATS KNOWN AS EV TRAINING FOLKS! (its the process of killing a certain pokemon so many times that 1 stat becomes a lot stronger) (which in this case because Marill gives HP EVs, Jaiden's ZIPZAPZOP got 2 HP EVs to survive this close call!)
he's watching the ace icon herself. let's go!
Alpharad mentioned you on stream recently. He said that Jaiden and him loved watching you learn about Pokemon nuzlocks through watching their videos. So, I had to check you out for myself!
Yeah I was watching haha I think I’ve peaked
I personally recommend either Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald or ORAS as the first Nuzlocke experience.
I just believe they refined some of the mechanics in the Hoenn games without too many drawbacks, like being too easy or too difficult or having other annoyances.
On the subject of animation and internet animators... I think a cool video would be you and kirby reacting to Smiling Friends together
nuzlockes are actually pretty damn hard.
2:44 You have to attempt to catch the first one you find on a new route, should it faint before catching it, that whole route is off limits for catching any more & you have to wait for the next route you enter
9:12 It took revenge for its murdered family
Rest in peace, to the fallen team
Oooooh
PLEASE react to her other nuzlocke videos and alpharad's nuzlockes too :)
9:08
Fun fact, that is actually from Team Four Star's Nuzlocke of Pokemon Ruby.
We didn't vote to give them a retry. (That was jaiden herself, actually.) But, they tried to hide it, and it pissed everyone off.
@@SImrobert2001 I don't remember people being too mad about it. Some folks called them out, and they bluffed a bit, but it was mostly fine? They continued for the sake of putting out more content but ultimately gave up their "champion belt" and released their "alternate timeline" footage which was pretty hilarious.
80 Maril meant that zipzapzop gained an extra 20 Hp over what it would have been with base stats.
3:09 her bird
Yes! Jaiden is such a wonderful soul and her animations are great.
If youre looking for a more serious and introspective video from her I suggest her Why I Dont Have A Face Reveal Video, its an important watch imo and its nice to talk about and discuss.
Double team raises evasion making it harder for moves to land
If you’re looking for randoms, there’s Epic Rap Battles of History and even Rustage’s Anime Rap Battles and music.
Next is Platinum followed by her two-player Nuzlocke
Ari is her pet dog lol
Happy April fools its actually her pet bird
Chomps the Mawhile was never even mention at all at the end 😂
Shhhh
You should do all her other videos! And the other animators TH-camrs
I will most definitely watch you do a Nuzlock
Check out her other Nuzlocke vids. Her Platinum one was EPIC.
she owns a bird named ari. that's why she named the tailow that.
Her third Nuzlocke video is a crossover with another Poketuber called Alpharad, you need to watch his Nuzlocke videos too^^ Probably better if you watch them before her third Nuzlocke video^^
he's dark grass 8:47 he's weak to flying because of grass type.
Ari is a reference to her irl pet birb Ari 😀
“I have played this.”
Drat.
The Platinum Nuzlocke is amazing, although this is also really good.
So Teamfourstar have done many a nuzlocke on their gaming channel and their is a whole interconnected lore it's worth a check out
ari is actually jaiden's pet bird
Oh, hey, another person finding out about Jaiden :)
This'll be good.
God I've seen this video so many times I can quote it by memory at this point
Definetly watch the other ones some other time, they only get better!
It is a good video and a great story!
You should also react to Alpharad's pokemon nuzlockes as well. Especially if you go down the line of Jaiden's.
Ari is her real life bird
You should most certainly check out Jaiden's 2nd Pokemon Nuzlocke video.
Hey duck, sorry this is off topic from the video, but I was going back to watch your hellsing ultimate (original) reactions, but they seem to be gone. I can only find the abridged.
I took all of my anime reactions off of this channel to protect it, I plan on uploading them to my anime channel since I saved them all
Always fun to see reactions to these videos, and also as to doing it yourself, if only there were someone *cough* who is in the midst of starting a series *cough* introducing and guiding creators *cough* through not just nuzlockes but soul link nuzlockes.
It's me. I'm the *cough*
Ari is Jaiden's pet bird
If you think that was tough you should watch a randomizer sun and moon nuzlocke that is a very tough to nuzlocke cause sun and moon don't have technically gym leaders they have totem pokemon and a trainer of the totem in the area and this is where it gets super tricky cause when you face a totem pokemon they get this aura that buffs a stat so it can get a buff in it's defense or offense so that makes it insane in a randomizer especially for the later totems cause then all their stats get buffed special attack defense etc so you can face ho oh with with double stat buffs
Oh wow! Something he's familiar with! Lmao!
