If, as you say, Jesus founded one church then there should be only one church today. You champion diversity in Christianity yet find Catholic doctrines “deeply problematic”. Protestantism embraces diversity in Christianity because that is the logical conclusion of recognizing no other authority than ourselves.
Unity doesn't mean uniformity on all non-essential beliefs/doctrines that each denomination differs with one another. Importantly, we are not saved through our perfect understanding or articulation of all what God teaches in Scriptures. Thus, a multitude of denomination does not invalidate Christianity nor Jesus' prayer for believers to be united.
On a scale 45,000 feet - 1 foot per denomination. I suppose the scissors jumps will work for the first one, but 45,000 feet - we'd be frosby flopping that one. I wonder if they are any denominations that would jump the mark at 45,000 feet or call it a draw... lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
