I notice that the leaves are well proportioned. They have stored enough liquid. They are healthy. What soil composition do you use in this case? Bravo for these beauties! Success!
Thank you! My soil is inorganic with roughly 20% pine bark. Water runs right through it. I also monitor them fairly closely and give water when a few of the leaves start looking wrinkled. When do water, I really soak it. I think the right amount of watering is key - too little is much better than too much. When they are actively growing, then can use a fair amount of water. I generally lift the pot to gauge how dry it is and only water when it is totally dry. Also, I use a very diluted fertilizer in all my watering since inorganic soil cannot store it. Best of luck with your plants! And thanks for watching the channel n
Glad to see how well your tree was growing in Akadama, pumice and lava rock because I just potted all my plants in that exact mix, I enjoyed the 3 tree update today
@@CoffeeandBonsaiwithTomI just got myself an Adenium Arabicum - desert rose I will try the same soil on that as well but I will wait until spring before I repot that plant.
I’ve got one of those as well. It’s healthy and grows well, but I’ve not had it bloom for me yet. I think next fall I will keep it under LEDs and warm all winter and see what happens.
@ if yours hasn’t flowered I don’t fancy my chances very much I put mine by a south facing window on a heat mat with a grow light above it. It’s like an alien surrounded by pa’s looks pretty strange but I already like it a lot
@VictorHHH7 It may - what I am missing I think is heat. My neighbor has one that she keeps outside as soon as possible in the spring and gives it as much direct sun as possible and hers blooms in the fall. Best of luck!!🤞
G/M Tom...A lot of pruning...Is this leading to Spring repotting like working Conifers in preSpring or just pruning in general? I keep telling myself that 'more is lost with indecision than with no decision', but it is hard to prune all that beautiful growth that I have been waiting all this time for...I thought that this would be the easy part, not so far...Great advise, I just need to need to 'grow' some courage😳...Thanks for sharing...
I repot and prune year round as they seem to need it, so no strict time of year. That's one of the things that I love about succulent bonsai - they grow so fast and can be worked on many times throughout the year. If you don't want to work on them, you can limit water/light/food and they will just go to sleep - so flexible! :) For early material - you can just let it grow wild and it will thicken up much more quickly. For plants you are starting to style, I think it makes sense to cut off grow that you know you do not want as soon as possible so that the tree puts that energy into areas where you do want it to grow. Of course, never prune unless it's healthy looking to start with. In the end, I just try to make decisions to make myself happy with the tree whatever it's doing! 😀. Many of my trees are at the 'trunk is good, grow and evolve some branches stage' which requires lots of pruning to not become a tangled mess. Best of luck Nathan!!!
Thanks! I think it's just lighting and a light diluted amount of fertilizer with each watering (in the water itself). I grow them year-round which hasn't been an issue so far, although some have said that a rest period is needed, I have not found that to be the case. They do take about 3-4 weeks off in the coldest time of the year for me which lowers the relative humidity of where I keep them to 20% due to forced air heat. Best of luck!
Really enjoying these Jade videos, growing on out myself and finding your content insightful, thank you
Thank you! They are a GREAT species to use for bonsai - so many positive attributes!!

I’ve got all sorts of soil mixed that I’ve been experimenting with, but they do really like the akadama mix. Best of luck!! 🤞
