    I have to disagree here, as you do have to take personal make up into account. I used to make coco with organic oatly, a dash of chilli and/or a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon everyday, occassionally twice a day. After some months, I noticed a tightness in my chest, and developed headaches. My doctor said that my blood sugar was way too high. I thought why would that be as I don't consume sugar, apart from starches in whole foods. I looked closer at oat milk and discovered it is indeed high in maltose and glucose. So I stopped that, within days I felt much better, within weeks my blood sugar was totally down.

    I guess you might need something like Oatly if you drink coffee, but for a topping for berries and oats I simply blend some rolled oats with water and optionally some cacao powder. I don't even bother to strain it, so I'm retaining the fiber. Tastes fine (especially the chocolate version), extremely cheap, and takes literally seconds to make.

      Most of these overpriced and hyped products are not popular, since people can not afford them outside Nordic countries. It's 2x - 3x the price of regular milk, even though it's plant based, which is very indecent.

    • @EspritundDisa
      @EspritundDisa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Diss & Dad Plant based products might seem overpriced to consumers compared to animal based ones because the dairy and meat industry is heavily subsidised with our tax money in order to keep prices low. If in turn plant based products were subsidised in the same way, they would be a lot more affordable. And what is more, that subsidy would also help the environment instead of propping up a profoundly sick, unethical, exploitative and outdated system.

    • @dissdad8744

      @@EspritundDisa That's a poor excuse for hipster companies like Oatly to demand extraorbitant amounts of money from the consumers for their low value products. As someone who makes plant based milks at home, as it's just cheaper, i've never successfully made oat/rice milk, despite trying different methods, unlike soy milk, it all just settles at the bottom with water on top. I suppose it's because of their starchy nature and i figured there is a specific process behind the production of one like ''Oatly''.
    Well, at least soy milk never fails and you can make a lot of nice things with the okara that's left over. I wonder if some nut milks can be made at home properly, i happen to have a lot of peanuts with nothing to use em for, besides my morning smoothies.

There is a massive potential market with 65% (4.5 Billion) of the world population being lactose intolerant and 5% (about the same as the population of the US) being allergic to milk. Unlike them, I'm buying up any and all alternative milk companies I can find. The dairy alternatives market is expected to be worth at least $40 billion by 2025. nothing beats home made soy milk in terms of creamyness. in the supermarket you will get 1: 10 ratio of dry soybean mass: water. At home i make it with a ratio of 1:7 and the result is a rich soy milk with that creamy aftertaste described in that video. but i admit: it is more involved to make the soy milk at home than to buy it from the supermarket. But if you really want the best quality possible, than home made is hands down the best alternative. And the benefit is, when it is homemade you have 100% control of the ingredients. Lucky enough here in north west UK to be able to get pretty much homemade oat milk from Oato, a family startup who bottle it in milk bottles that you can get delivered by your local milkman. Let me tell you it tastes even better than Oatly, with none of the extra mystery oils, and also fortified. Zero waste footprint compared to the pretty damn awful tetrapaks that Oatly use. Hardly anywhere is set to recycle tetrapaks but even if you find somewhere that does, they’re not closed loop recyclables so it’s pretty much still landfill material eventually.
    Sure, I’m slightly slightly supporting the dairy industry because the guy who delivers my bottles of Oato gets a cut, but I’m not supporting actual dairy products.
