To be fair to Ingrid's dad, he seems pretty cool. He doesn't want her to marry someone cruel or unsuitable, as can be seen in her paralogue. Half of it is Ingrid feeling her own sense of guilt and responsibility to her family. She WANTS to help them but also wants to follow her knighthood dream.
It's weird though, in the Sylvain/Mercedes C Support Mercedes reveals her father died, and her mom remarried into a noble family where she was used a breading stock for a Crest, and once the child was born she and Mercedes were run out of the house and she mostly grew up in the Church. With that premise, how is it possible she has any connection to any father who would be in a position to decide her marriage? One is dead, and the other disowned her.
