I find it really interesting how Mercedes out of all the students recruited from the Blue Lions would be the one to react this way to Dimitri's death. Between his Byleth support and this one, the image of Dimitri in the training hall teaching swordplay to several children and Mercedes comes to mind and its very cute.
I knew ahead of time that Dimitri would go through a sort of phase, and thought someone gentle and nurturing, but assertive enough to not put up with any self-loathing, like Mercie might help him heal, plus she's so responsible that she's a fantastic candidate for co-leading an entire country and helping it mend after years of brutal war.
I don’t think there’s any other girl who tells him to stop with the self-loathing and is so patient with him. Mommy approves of this ship! Thought I do love Marianne though.
It does feel like either Marianne or Mercedes are good fit for Dimitri. Marianne has the same self loathing behavior, so maybe they can help each other find self love. Mercedes has such a healing and compassionate aura, she can help him see past the bad he's done and what good he can do as a King.
Think about how dangerous Dimitri is in bed. If he accidentally broke a pair of scissors, I have no doubt he'd accidentally break her bones. The most interesting part: It's all because of his crest. The crest of Blaiddyd gives him this superhuman strength.
I feel like this pairing gets overlooked by all of the other pairs with these 2 characters. But the 2 of them together are so sweet and well balanced. I feel like Dimitri needs someone like Mercedes. They had really good chemistry.
@@themagicalfox6 No no, he has a point. Female Byleth's design is the worst out of all the girls in the monastery--and this is coming from a girl, myself.
@@themagicalfox6 Well, you also have a point there. But I think he meant more in the sense that Female Byleth is "perfect" for Dimitri. I can think of several other girls in the Monastery that share similar or even better executed supports with him than Byleth. What I mean is, we've just come to dislike the Female version of Byleth because she overshadows so many other great aspects and relationships between characters--like Mercedes and Dimitri, for example. Not many know about them, and refuse to see anybody with Dimitri other than their self-insert.
Can the B support happens on Post-timeskip ? because it must be very cute and funny with Dimitri's timeskip version to says those things I'm so sorry for my English though
My first run in every route, was to marry Byleth with the leaders of each nation (in Silver Snow, i choose Seteth). But if i had chosen a different path with my Byleth, i definitely thought that Mercedes was the best match for him 🧐👌
I'm not one for support conversations, but between all the popular pairings for Dimitri, my favorite is this one. Marianne comes second, but she doesn't quite fill the void that Dimitri has beared from his childhood, while Mercedes is strong enough--unlike Marianne--to uphold Dimitri through his sentimental outbreaks, but also gentle and nurturing enough to understand him and comfort him afterwards. The one Dimitri pairing that I dislike, to my surprise, is Female Byleth. I may be exaggerating, but I think that, compared to Male Byleth, Female Byleth receives more praise from the community than need be. Her design is just one of the worst I've seen in Fire Emblem, and yet her male counterpart comes very close to ignored in terms of art and reception. She's overrated, to put it simply. I may just be the only one that thinks this way, but I hold my stance.
@@ray0064 [ Edited for additional details and grammar issues ] I never mentioned that I 'hated' the support, but I do prefer nearly all other Dimitri/Female supports over Female Byleth's exclusive S-Support. Primarily, I dislike Female Byleth because she's overrated, to put it simply. When the sole reason she's placed above Male Byleth is because she's more 'expressive' as an *established* emotionless character, I find everything related to her plainly nonsensical, and in turn I find Male Byleth more fitting for the professional atmosphere given to his character. In total, most of my dislike for her is based off of personal taste, to be honest, and I doubt I'd have to explain myself in that respect. But aside that, I also find the pairing itself to be overrated. I admit I do admire the narrative that *would* develop between them, but after so much saturation of it in the media, I begun to note that it isn't as 'touching' as Mercedes or Marianne supporting Dimitri cohesively throughout their B and A support. However, since I'm slightly more inclined to Mercedes's and Dimitri's interactions, I will also emphasize that Mercedes never doubted him, right alongside Dedue during his 'feral' stage in-game. This *narrative-established* connection between the two characters is what makes me favor this support more than Dimitri's additional female supports. The trust delineated between them is what adds depth to their supports, at least in my perspective. In turn, Female Byleth's concern for Dimitri only goes as far as the Player *wills* it to be, therefore leaving the *narrative-established* connection between the characters absent. In my eyes, this makes Female Byleth's S-Support less significant in terms of dynamic. Overall, I just find other Female/Dimitri supports to be better executed than Female Byleth's S-Support. As I've stated before, I find the narrative-established connections between characters to add depth to their supports, and for that reason, I find Mercedes--and in close second--Marianne to be more impactful throughout Dimitri's traumatic lifestyle. Hopefully this answers your question.
@@simpforFEike I'm surprised you dislike female byleth's design, i think she looks great before and after her design change, male byleth is fine pre design change, but looks awful with the green hair and eyes, and especially with dimitri, female byleth seems so caring and loving, they hold hands quite a bit, you can see how much she supports him
@@DegeneratesLikeYouOverall it just comes to personal preference, but I just can't agree with Female Byleth looking good at all--neither before the timeskip nor after it. Her design does not resound positively with me: her exaggerated bug eyes, her outlandish outfit, her irritating voice--but I mainly dislike her because, due to her existence, a great design ( at least in my opinion) like Male Byleth's is ignored for shallow reasons such as 'more expressive' or 'cute ship with Dimitri'. There are so many other characters ( most of his supports, in fact ) that do just the same effect as the 'dedication' of Female Byleth to him ( Mercedes and Marianne are great examples of this ). What I think people fail to see is that there is no difference in terms of narrative between Dimitri's interactions with either Byleth. All of his reactions are the same throughout the *main campaign* to either Byleth, and so I don't see why one would be more relevant than another in their connection to Dimitri. The 'holding hand' segment occurs twice, and Male Byleth is not excluded from this event due to his gender. It's not just Female Byelth that supports him, Male Byleth does as well. More specifically, while I am aware that Male Byleth does not have an S-Support with Dimitri, in my opinion this should not obscure the fact that both Dimitri and Male Byleth have a strong connection as instructor and pupil. On the contrary, I believe that, since none of the player's interactions that take place during the game ( S-Supports) hold any relevance in terms of *established* character connections ( such as the Blue Lions' friendships and pasts ), these should not mold the perspective of either Byleth. With this said, either Byleth makes little impact on the AM story, so Female Byleth really has no sort of advantage over the Male in that aspect of *established* events. I hope I don't come across as offensive, but ultimately I just refuse to see Female Byleth as anything more than an unnecessary addition to the game, as well as S-Supports. Male Byleth fits in the war atmosphere perfectly, and displays the role of teacher with dignity. In addition, I find platonic supports, and the way the students' A-Supports were handled much more satisfying because the player being able to play God--forcing characters to incline at their will--is ridiculous, for my taste. However, in the end, I respect the fact that there will be different opinions, although I will not agree.
