@@victordk2874 would be better without Modrić for the most part lol, both Majer and Baturina are better at this point, his mentaity is what is essential but overall he is neither a better player nor does he fit the style of play we have with Petković as the striker and Gvardiol as the left beck better than the other two, his biggest contribution is really in those thight moments when you need someone to push you forward at step up, so yeah without him we can't win the tournament but we would play better. Portugal put pretty much its best team on the field, really only left out a few players and same goes for us, it's not like we went with our first squad either😂 su just avoid excuses, a loss is a loss, friendly or not. At the end of the day Croatia and Spain are the only real contenders in this tournament.

Behind the likes of France England and Germany, Portugal are another squad that has a great chance at winning the EUROs. Yes Cristiano Ronaldo is 39 years old and isn’t the force he was in his prime, but Portugal have a strong overall team now than they did when they won the EUROs in 2016. If they want to win the EUROs, they can’t be as over reliant on him as they were in previous tournaments. In recent tournaments with the talent that they have, they’ve underperformed getting knocked out of the World Cup in 2018 by Uruguay in the RD of 16, EUROs RD of 16 to Belgium and World Cup 2022 to Morocco. After that loss, they had to make some changes within the managerial position which was to get rid of Fernando Santos. With Roberto Martinez as their manager and them winning 10/10 games in EUROs qualifiers securing 30 points and scoring the most goals out of any team, Portugal cannot be counted out as contenders for the tournament this summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo despite his age continues putting the ball in the back of the net at a staggering rate and in attack and midfield he Bruno Fernandes Joao Felix Rafael Leao Diogo Jota and Bernardo Silva form a great supporting cast for him when going forward and most of them have had excellent seasons at their club. Bruno has been the shining light in a Manchester United team that has been disappointing, Bernardo Silva has continued to play a key role in Manchester City’s dominance in the premier league even Vitinha has a solid season at PSG, Joao Neves from Benfica is very promising as well. Their defense has a lot of strength too. At the back, Ruben Dias is seen as one of the best defenders in the world, Pepe is 41 years old, but has continued to show no signs of his age based off of what we saw from him in the champions league last season, Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva are also defenders who have a lot of promise and have been linked with a lot of top European clubs, they have some of the best fullbacks in the world Nuno Mendes has been great since returning to fitness and he’s great going forward and he provides a lot of width and can benefit from overlapping runs from his teammates and Joao Cancelo has a lot of qualities going forward even if he has been exposed as a defensive liability. Let’s not forget that the manager that they have is Roberto Martinez a guy who couldn’t win anything with a Golden Generation of Talent in the Belgium national team and it wouldn’t be shocking if Portugal doesn’t win the EUROs despite the squad that they have. If he can get the starting lineup right and get the correct balance and all the players, their profile complements each other, they can do what they did in 2016 if not better.

I wish Paulo Futre wasn't injury prone. He was supposed to be the best player post-Eusebio era, even better than Luis Figo and Rui Costa. Sporting CP screwed up badly by not playing him due to age. Futre still holds the record for the youngest player to represent Portugal. He was the main catalyst for Porto winning the 1987 European Champions Cup over Bayern. He was even Maradona's favorite player during their playing time.

Croatia just showed some amazing quality against Portugal today 🔥. I know it was just a friendly but they scheduled this match to prepare for the Euros and they took it seriously. They are still quality and their knew generation is shinning through with many players in their prime and youngsters along with great experience. Tactically and as a team they are so fluid and determined.

Overall high quality video, just a couple things to point out which were inaccurate. Carvalho and Pauleta we're not part of the Golden Generation and didn't feature in Euro 2000, and Ronaldo never won the Euro 2016 Golden Boot.. that was Griezmann. They are also not undefeated with Martinez, Slovenia beat Portugal 2-0 in a friendly a few weeks ago. Also to do all of that analysis and them seemingly put in doubt Ronaldo's place in this team is a bit confusing... Ronaldo is clearly the team's best striker, there's absolutely no doubt about it.
