Tim Hansen Mark Waid did it in Daredevil #18. Its a pretty bizarre story but an example of a great writer taking an otherwise ridiculous character and making it work. Matt Murdock investigates a business man after all of his blood was drained.

Well, your logic with Spot is a tad flawed. According to what you're saying, Spot's power is useless because he can't use it aggressively and it acts only as a defensive trait. However, the same logic could be applied with invulnerability (which is a power everyone would want to have). Also, if a firing squad goes up against Spot, his power is technically better than invulnerability, because not only is he not being hurt, he is also technically "firing back" at the same time
Yeah, spot has an amazing power. As you said, if he's fighting soldiers, his spots can pretty much becomes mini-guns. Fighting thor, he can throw his hammer right at thor's neck when its thrown. Fighting captain america, he can throw back his shield, and depending on the range, he could do ridiculous things, like drop lave on a city, or bomb some place with a bomb too heavy to be launched otherwise. He could even make the most mundane things deadly by pushing something down his portals until it reaches terminal velocity. He could be a magician, a crime fighter, a master thief, anything he wants really.
This is why I've always like Spot. He could be so OP if he really used his powers (or if the writers let him.) He could steal from banks all over NYC, or even the world, near simultaneously if he wanted! He could probably be an Avenger-level threat if he went crazy like Carnage.

yeah spot actually has the most useful power iv'e seen all you need to do is be creative he could basically redirect any attack thrown at him , imagine if the hulk punched in to one of spot's spots or if he redirected a really powerful attack like cap's shield , hawk eye's arrows , or iron mans repulser beam.
the infectious disease thing also seems rather powerful to be considered useless. I guess it's dumb for a superhero, but in the hands of a villain this person would basically be a living biological weapon.

Imo the Spot has one of the most useful super powers I can think of. Not knowing how to use it is a matter of imagination. Besides... Black Widow is just a human, but she, Antman, Falcon, and Hawkeye hold their own.

Technically spot should be able to become invulnerable, he can resize his spots to be as large as he likes, so he could cover his entire body. The way spiderman beat him was making him throw to many of his spots as weapons so he didn't have enough to use for defense, which makes ZERO sense.

To me it also looks like a great power if used correctly and with planning ahead but requires money. Leave a spot inside an active volcano, drop lava on your enemies! Leave a spot in the sea to flood fire based enemies with water! Thor flings mjolnir at you? Open a spot at the last moment that leads into the volcano and close it behind. Sure it won't destroy mjolnir but it would get super hot atleast!

Why does everyone hate on Spot so much? I have always loved his powers. Not every super power has to be judged based soley on how it performs in combat, being able to create portals that could teleport you all over the world is pretty sweet.
Moardieb grudge is bullshitting. Mjolnir or Cap's shield being thrown by their superpowers and going into a portal that leads to hitting them in the back of the head should knock them out. I would say spot is overpowered except against the X-Men like storm or Cyclops, or fantastic four too. I think their area of effect type attacks would be too much for him to handle, especially if stretch can cover distance or invisible woman can stop the portals

Spot is the perfect support character, and has the potential of being insanely powerful even on his own. Support; Spot is able to direct the powerful attacks of his friends to the blind-spot of his enemy, or confuse the enemy with a fast projectile kind of attack (like a laser) directed around his enemy. He could also coordinate such attacks in a way that the enemy is surrounded by lasers and projectiles which all might be directed to the enemy at the same time leaving no escape, using just one weapon. He just needs to allow - for example Supermans' eye laser - to constantly moving between his 'spots' until there is enough energy in total to harm the enemy. *That* is terrifying. Stand-alone; Steal a powerful weapon, which should be easy if you can move everywhere. The weapon could be a nuke, for example. Ready the usage of the weapon, and flee before weapon does what it does if it also puts you in danger, which a nuke for example would do. If he doesn't care if the earth continues to exist, he could open a portal to the sun which would instantly burn the entire earth surface to ashes. The sun trick would work on the same principle as to why 'Jonny Storm' from the f4 is not allowed to show all his strength. *That* is terrifying, not even Superman could do anything and would be forced to just watch.

Depending on the range of his portals, Spot could also open a portal inside the sun, ending all life on Earth from the extreme heat, or slowly empty the planet of air by draining it into space.
It's not that his powers can't be used in a fight. It's that he doesn't have to fight at all, he can just make a quick get away through a portal and close it before most heroes can go after him. XD
Having the power to teleport seems very useful plus if you think about it how would he be defeated because he would just redirect Captain Americas punches to him or his team mates it's actually really useful if you know what to do with it

The color power is actually underrated because with that power you can create illusions and basically make the enemy see whatever you want them to see.
Spot's power is amazingly useful. You can teleport people and objects over long distance. Thor wouldn't look so pretty if you suddenly opened a portal below him sending him straight into a Volcano. Unless there's some kind of limit to the power. From his appearance in the cartoon I remember Kingpin basically having a wet dream over having the ability and the guy that did end up being spot was pretty reluctant to fight Spider Man.
Yeah so... funny thing about inter-dimensional portals... you can use them to severe parts of attackers bodies, completely hurl your enemies into another dimension and never have to worry about them again. It offers great abilities like quick travelling, passing through solid objects... overall its probably one of the most useful powers there are.
Spot's powers can actually be pretty cool. He doesn't need to punch Thor, he can make Thor punch himself. He's the best defensive bad guy. Also Bailey Hoskins would make *THE GREATEST SUICIDE BOMBER EVER* because he wouldn't need a suicide vest or anything. He just blows up naturally.

Dude. Spot has titanic potential. He can redirect anything and move through his portals himself. This makes him really mobile, and if he fought a group of superheroes then using those spots he could just make their strongest hitter wipe out everyone else. And Color Kid has had some really good moments--his power is one of those that, by taking a few moments to think about it, has a lot of uses. He's changed the color of the entire (visible) sky before, darkened the air to keep light from passing through it (very useful when you have a team member who is about as strong as Superman, but only in the dark), changed the color of Kryptonite to induce different effects, and before the Green Lanterns figured out how to overcome the Yellow Impurity, he could have removed the color yellow from an object to allow them to use their powers on it. I'm not sure about all of the details of the various Lantern Corps rings, but considering that they're color-based I imagine he could fuck up a Lantern's powers pretty easily. He's also blinded people (change the color of their eyes to all one color--they can't see anything else), changed people's skin to allow camouflage, etc. Sure, he's more of a support character, but his powers are by no means useless.
In Daredevil comics (Mark Waid) Spot was used to assassinate a businessman. He teleported all of the guy's blood. Also in DD, spots powers were used to transport drugs via the pregnant bellies of women (not even joking). The story takes a pretty morbid and bizarre turn and yet Waid makes it work.

PerfectAlibi I think he can fight. All he needs is a weapon, ANY WEAPON and he’s set. He can use accelerated spots to make it more effective. Maybe apply spots to his weapon so that it pours out someone from the inside when striking. He can use one long rope to tie up many people in multiple locations. I want his power
I think Spot and Infectious Lass's powers are actually pretty good. interdimensional portals on command and the ability to spawn any disease are potent and have a variety of interesting uses.

Spot has a useful ability insofar as he can redirect localized forces with 100% efficiency up to but not including the diameter of his spots. Projectiles don't work on him. So he can shoot himself and utilize his own ability to control where the bullet actually stops.
For Spot, you just get Thor or Captain America to punch themselves, like they did with Spider-Man. They don't even have Spidey's advantage of spider sense, which as you said wouldn't help them anyway. YOU, with your interdimensional portals, never have to throw a punch.
I think this is a great concept. People who have stupid powers. If we really did live in a world in which people had superpowers, of course some of them would be ridiculous. I'd love to read the comic of the substitutes. Maybe they could use their powers in creative ways and solve some real crime. That would be great. And BTW, Spot doesn't seem that stupid to me. That seems like kind of a cool power.

I’m going to completely and utterly disagree with you there. The Spot was actually my first exposure to the concepts that was later explored in Portal. Any Avener that uses throwing weapons, projectiles, meelee... well, any avanger that has any kind of attach at all, The Spot could confuse them into hitting themselves. He can also go anywhere, and he can do that thing that you can do in Portal where an object falls out of one portal into another and keeps falling faster and faster, then you open a neew portal and the object flies out of it really fast.
Spot can probably make a big spot in space that bisects stuff, or spots in people's body and take out their hearts, etc. Check out how Yakumo Yukari uses her doorways, they work in like the same way more or less.

Wraith and the wall weren't too bad. There was this one kid who caused all organic matter around him to decay rapidly. No way to control or stop it. One morning he just wakes up alone, can't find his mum anywhere (just a pile of clothes), nobody anywhere outside either. Ends up seeing his girlfriend melt away in front of him. And then wolverine sets out to assassinate the kid.
Spot can create inter-dimensional doorways to anywhere which allows him to travel through things, vast distances, move almost any object through the spots, and many other things that he could use the portals for. Spot definitely doesn't deserve to be on this list.
Spot's potential is extremely great. He can simply use infinite loop on anyone. If he really use his technique well, he could make someone disappear for good too.

Spot's powers aren't useless at all. Almost any attack you throw at him, could land right back at you. Not to mention, he could easily get away. Not to mention, being able to pop up anywhere you needed to or wanted to. Like, a bank, or a locked down facility, or from work and back again, etc.
"A normal guy punching Captain America is going to do nothing." True, but I think the ability to make them punch themselves could do more damage inherently. Imagine if Thor threw his hammer at Spot; he could just have it come flying back at him. While it may not do much to Thor, imagine having the ability to have the hammer be thrown at whoever you wanted. You could take out all of the avengers, so long as you had a separate way to get Thor once everyone else was taken out by his hammer.
Think about it, Spot could probably hold his own against some pretty powerful opponents by redirecting their attacks back at them. I would seriously consider chosing his power even if the alternatives werent powers the writers invented as a gag.

Dude Spot sounds like a very dangerous villain. You know what he could do against Captain America? He could open a dimensional hole in Captain America's blind spot and then shoot him. As for Thor, that's a bit of an unfair matchup. Thor once defeated Galactus. There aren't a lot of villains in the Marvel Universe that can defeat Thor. If Spot places his dimension holes perfectly he'd be untouchable.
With the likes of Batman existing, having a human with teleportation powers seems pretty stupid to put on a 'useless super powers' list. Perhaps he can't punch enough to harm Thor, well, except being able to redirect every punch he throws at someone who is if not a bit, then a lot slower than Spiderman, to say nothing of catching mjolnir in a portal, or lightning tossed his way. Couldn't possibly open a portal in front of him and one in space to suck someone away or open one under the sea or by a hyrdro-electric damn to either forms of pressurized water to slam into someone. Spot would be pretty much the most dangerous assassin out there. Image someone who can kill you with a silent pistol form next town over. He can place those holes all around the place and fire. You don't even know what hit you before it's too late. He was presented really idiotically in the series, but in all his powers are pretty good for an assassin or mercenary.

Moardieb grudge is bullshitting. Mjolnir or Cap's shield being thrown by their superpowers and going into a portal that leads to hitting them in the back of the head should knock them out. I would say spot is overpowered except against the X-Men like storm or Cyclops, or fantastic four too. I think their area of effect type attacks would be too much for him to handle, especially if stretch can cover distance or invisible woman can stop the portals

Spot is the perfect support character, and has the potential of being insanely powerful even on his own.
Support; Spot is able to direct the powerful attacks of his friends to the blind-spot of his enemy, or confuse the enemy with a fast projectile kind of attack (like a laser) directed around his enemy. He could also coordinate such attacks in a way that the enemy is surrounded by lasers and projectiles which all might be directed to the enemy at the same time leaving no escape, using just one weapon. He just needs to allow - for example Supermans' eye laser - to constantly moving between his 'spots' until there is enough energy in total to harm the enemy. *That* is terrifying.
Stand-alone; Steal a powerful weapon, which should be easy if you can move everywhere. The weapon could be a nuke, for example. Ready the usage of the weapon, and flee before weapon does what it does if it also puts you in danger, which a nuke for example would do. If he doesn't care if the earth continues to exist, he could open a portal to the sun which would instantly burn the entire earth surface to ashes. The sun trick would work on the same principle as to why 'Jonny Storm' from the f4 is not allowed to show all his strength. *That* is terrifying, not even Superman could do anything and would be forced to just watch.

Spot's powers aren't useless at all. He just doesn't know how to proper use them. Being able to create portals out of nothing is pretty overpowered.

Spot's power is amazingly useful. You can teleport people and objects over long distance. Thor wouldn't look so pretty if you suddenly opened a portal below him sending him straight into a Volcano. Unless there's some kind of limit to the power. From his appearance in the cartoon I remember Kingpin basically having a wet dream over having the ability and the guy that did end up being spot was pretty reluctant to fight Spider Man.
Yeah so... funny thing about inter-dimensional portals... you can use them to severe parts of attackers bodies, completely hurl your enemies into another dimension and never have to worry about them again. It offers great abilities like quick travelling, passing through solid objects... overall its probably one of the most useful powers there are.

Spot's powers can actually be pretty cool. He doesn't need to punch Thor, he can make Thor punch himself. He's the best defensive bad guy. Also Bailey Hoskins would make *THE GREATEST SUICIDE BOMBER EVER* because he wouldn't need a suicide vest or anything. He just blows up naturally.

Dude. Spot has titanic potential. He can redirect anything and move through his portals himself. This makes him really mobile, and if he fought a group of superheroes then using those spots he could just make their strongest hitter wipe out everyone else.
And Color Kid has had some really good moments--his power is one of those that, by taking a few moments to think about it, has a lot of uses. He's changed the color of the entire (visible) sky before, darkened the air to keep light from passing through it (very useful when you have a team member who is about as strong as Superman, but only in the dark), changed the color of Kryptonite to induce different effects, and before the Green Lanterns figured out how to overcome the Yellow Impurity, he could have removed the color yellow from an object to allow them to use their powers on it. I'm not sure about all of the details of the various Lantern Corps rings, but considering that they're color-based I imagine he could fuck up a Lantern's powers pretty easily. He's also blinded people (change the color of their eyes to all one color--they can't see anything else), changed people's skin to allow camouflage, etc. Sure, he's more of a support character, but his powers are by no means useless.

In Daredevil comics (Mark Waid) Spot was used to assassinate a businessman. He teleported all of the guy's blood. Also in DD, spots powers were used to transport drugs via the pregnant bellies of women (not even joking). The story takes a pretty morbid and bizarre turn and yet Waid makes it work.

I think Spot and Infectious Lass's powers are actually pretty good. interdimensional portals on command and the ability to spawn any disease are potent and have a variety of interesting uses.

Spot has a useful ability insofar as he can redirect localized forces with 100% efficiency up to but not including the diameter of his spots. Projectiles don't work on him. So he can shoot himself and utilize his own ability to control where the bullet actually stops.

I think this is a great concept. People who have stupid powers. If we really did live in a world in which people had superpowers, of course some of them would be ridiculous. I'd love to read the comic of the substitutes. Maybe they could use their powers in creative ways and solve some real crime. That would be great. And BTW, Spot doesn't seem that stupid to me. That seems like kind of a cool power.

I’m going to completely and utterly disagree with you there. The Spot was actually my first exposure to the concepts that was later explored in Portal. Any Avener that uses throwing weapons, projectiles, meelee... well, any avanger that has any kind of attach at all, The Spot could confuse them into hitting themselves. He can also go anywhere, and he can do that thing that you can do in Portal where an object falls out of one portal into another and keeps falling faster and faster, then you open a neew portal and the object flies out of it really fast.
Spot is definitely like Blink from X-Men Days of future past. It's actually pretty cool and definitely not useless

Spot can probably make a big spot in space that bisects stuff, or spots in people's body and take out their hearts, etc. Check out how Yakumo Yukari uses her doorways, they work in like the same way more or less.
idk about spot but hearing about what he does in this video i see potential a very dangerous ability actually, he could send any incoming attacks wherever he wants. imagine the combo he could do.
Wraith and the wall weren't too bad. There was this one kid who caused all organic matter around him to decay rapidly. No way to control or stop it. One morning he just wakes up alone, can't find his mum anywhere (just a pile of clothes), nobody anywhere outside either. Ends up seeing his girlfriend melt away in front of him. And then wolverine sets out to assassinate the kid.
Spot can create inter-dimensional doorways to anywhere which allows him to travel through things, vast distances, move almost any object through the spots, and many other things that he could use the portals for. Spot definitely doesn't deserve to be on this list.
Spot's potential is extremely great. He can simply use infinite loop on anyone. If he really use his technique well, he could make someone disappear for good too.
I like how in the comment section, so many people came up with a diverse way Spot could use his powers. As an aspiring cartoonist myself, I'm probably going to steal some of them for my supervillains.

Spot's powers aren't useless at all. Almost any attack you throw at him, could land right back at you. Not to mention, he could easily get away. Not to mention, being able to pop up anywhere you needed to or wanted to. Like, a bank, or a locked down facility, or from work and back again, etc.

Imagine if Thor threw his hammer at Spot; he could just have it come flying back at him. While it may not do much to Thor, imagine having the ability to have the hammer be thrown at whoever you wanted. You could take out all of the avengers, so long as you had a separate way to get Thor once everyone else was taken out by his hammer.

Considering spot can divert attacks back at his attackers, isn't he effectively just as strong as the person attacking him? Not to mention the space bending bullshit he could pull. Imagine opening a hole bellow someone and above them, letting them fall infinitely until they hit terminal velocity, and then just splattering them on the ground. Or, perhaps, using his power to bypass security measures in order to gain access to weapons, explosives, etc. ? His power won't be so useless when he's suddenly in control of some evil genius' super weapon lol.

Dude Spot sounds like a very dangerous villain. You know what he could do against Captain America? He could open a dimensional hole in Captain America's blind spot and then shoot him. As for Thor, that's a bit of an unfair matchup. Thor once defeated Galactus. There aren't a lot of villains in the Marvel Universe that can defeat Thor. If Spot places his dimension holes perfectly he'd be untouchable.
With the likes of Batman existing, having a human with teleportation powers seems pretty stupid to put on a 'useless super powers' list. Perhaps he can't punch enough to harm Thor, well, except being able to redirect every punch he throws at someone who is if not a bit, then a lot slower than Spiderman, to say nothing of catching mjolnir in a portal, or lightning tossed his way. Couldn't possibly open a portal in front of him and one in space to suck someone away or open one under the sea or by a hyrdro-electric damn to either forms of pressurized water to slam into someone. But I digress. Truly, a worthless power is held by Spot. So glad intelligent people like you are making such informative and imaginative videos. Spot would be pretty much the most dangerous assassin out there. Image someone who can kill you with a silent pistol form next town over. He can place those holes all around the place and fire. You don't even know what hit you before it's too late. He was presented really idiotically in the series, but in all his powers are pretty good for an assassin or mercenary.
