house looking good. Belle and Maverick was having fun. both so cute. Ashley is a great wife helping you. I always help my husband in every chore we did. now we are seniors he helps me in the house. married 62 years today.
I find great beauty in simplicity. Less is always more. The house and the siding are perfection. When my pappy sold the family farm in Iowa, he let us grandchildren pick out one thing we wanted off the farm. My 17 cousins went for household furniture and paintings, but I chose the hammock in the backyard. It's big, striped, sort of flat and has a built-in pillow filled with straw. My mother and her 5 siblings used it as children and eventually us grandchildren. There are a hundred sweet summers in that hammock, you can smell them in the pillow. Now my grandchildren lie in it, gaze at the blue sky, nap, and make their own summer memories. Belle and Maverick will remember the joy of your hammock, the books they read, and the dreams they dreamed while lying in it. A hammock is a wonderful thing♡
I am a retired vet asst. and I have to tell you....the vet I worked for was an international Gecko expert so we saw exotics, and a TON of snakes. Of all the creatures I worked with and handled not one time was I ever bitten by a snake. People fear them, but they are not nearly as scary as people make them out to be in their minds. And they control the rodent population for you. Of all the animals I handled the one that nailed us ALL the most....hamsters. They have, for the most part except for Teddy Bears, the worst temperaments. Those needle teeth hurt too and they tend to hang on so you have to shake your hand to get them off...lol. Great job on the house guys its looking fabulous!
Ashley your blue sweater looks so beautiful on you. That colour really suits you. I really enjoyed seeing the little snake. It had a strange mouth but it was so cute. The house looks awesome and it’s almost done now. You practically built the entire house so you should be able to live there comfortably for decades now. I am looking forward to seeing what type of deck you decide to build on it. I’m sure it will be awesome. You deserve to have a long rest and enjoy your labor for now.
One thing I’ve learned in TH-cam is that no matter what you do you are going to get more armchair judgements of “you did it wrong” than “you did it right”. The negative comments and the “know it all comments” are usually from people who can’t even tie their own shoes and haven’t risen from their couches in years except to get snacks or go the bathroom. Ignore them. You guys are awesome, inspiring, and showing the world what teamwork really is. Keep up the good work. God bless you!
Really enjoyed this video, I live in Virginia, we have quite a few non poisonous snakes but we also have quite a few that are, copperheads are very common here, most snakes including the venomous ones try to avoid people, Doug reminds me of my dad, he was old school and I lost him a long time ago but my dad would catch snakes that came into our yard and take them out in the woods and let them go, he also could do carpentry, plumbing and electrical, he was a mechanic by trade, I was very blessed, just as your children are to have good parents. 🥰
I don’t think it’s a 1970’s home anymore. You’ve done such a completely amazing job of replacing practically everything I think it’s fair to say that it’s now a 2020 home.
I just found your channel about 4 days ago and have been binge watching your videos with my husband, exclusively! We really admire your work ethics and also the respect and kindness you show to each other and your children. We recently moved into our new home and property and can’t wait to get our gardens started and especially get out chicken coop built. Watching yours has made us really miss our old flock.
Hognose are so cool! They are easily tamed as babies. I used to have a western hognose as a pet. But, they are actually rear fang venomous. The fangs are at the back of the jaw instead of at the lip. So it is unlikely they will bite you. But caution is still warranted. Their toxicity is similar to a wasp. In rare occasions some one could have an allergic reaction. Another interesting thing about them is that will "play dead"!! Every once in a while you come across one flipped over with its belly showing. It will look dead, but if you watch quietly for a bit, it will roll over and go on its merry way. :)
Big shout out to Belle for watching over the little one and helping you where she is able while you guys work on various projects , What a great help and big sister she is !
That siding gives the house an actual house look instead of an old double wide. Anything you did made it look better. We haven't had enough rain here lately. My Garden is done, everything is dry and finished. I remember my dog used to kill hog nosed snakes. I saw one the size of a huge tree branch half way across from my Aunt and Uncle's. I almost drove my car in the ditch when I realized it was a snake, not a branch. Kids do love the hammocks. Seems to be a teenage attraction.
Your home is looking terrific. I'm so happy to see that you are able to spend more time outdoors with the children, enjoying our summer weather. And, I have noticed Ashley smiling more and being more talkative, which I'm sure is the result of a lower stress level, now that the end of home renovations is in sight. I think all of your subscribers are also doing a giant EXHALE for your family, as well. Wishing you a relaxed and joyful weekend.
Belle had such a beautiful smile! It’s great to see your kids involved with your projects and learning from you. Your house is looking so smart! Can’t believe how far you have come over the last year, I would never have imagined how good it would look a year ago!
I don’t think anyone will ever know this was a mobile home when you are finished. Too me it looks like a stick built permanent home. It is actually built much better than most now that you have redone everything. Something all of you should be very proud about. As you move forward and finish this I would be happy to watch more of your cooking episodes, art episodes with Belle and maybe even outdoor adventures in your own backyard, plant identification, insect identification and small wood working projects.
The siding looks Great! The first sealer that You used will be fine. They don't want You to use it on butt joints, because the end grain of the siding will absorb the moisture from the sealer before it can cure. Because You painted those ends before installing the siding, the sealer will be able to properly cure.
Doug & Ashly, it's been a pleasure watching your channels all these years. I been here all from the beginning of your journey. I've enjoyed each one of your videos so much, sometimes more than twice. They are a great entertainment for the whole family. I which one day some teachers play your videos for the kids in school. You are such a great roll model as a family. You teach many skills; parenting, building, art... Your family have giving me a glance and hope for the younger generations. Thank you so much. God bless all of you. 👍🙂❤👵
That blue top looks so pretty with your skin tone and eyes Ashley! I just had to tell you. It’s so exciting to see that y’all are so close to finishing your home❣️
The house is looking better and better.Love the siding, and Ashley you are always pretty but today you just look beautiful.Your hair is so pretty, then you smiled and that was the icing on the cake.Beautiful family.
Love all your hard work.... Please don’t call this a Mobil home any more! This is a ranch house on Mobil home base.! Built better than either one really! Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to see what you do next!
Wow, that looks absolutely stunning, well done guys! Gotta say Doug, your measuring skills are off the scale! It would have taken me at least 3,attempts to cut round that window! 😳😂
You guys have done a great job on the house and I know there were a lot a rough patches along the way but you can breathe a sigh of relief that the hardest part is just about over. You will have a cozy winter.
The snake! Yikes. It was interesting to watch it go flat (reminded me of a Cobra). The hammocks look like a cool way to spend a summer's day! Happy Saturday! :)
Your home is looking good Doug & Ashley.! You guys are a dynamic team and I love watching your videos. Stay safe and God bless your beautiful family 👐💞🌻
Good morning good morning ! Siding is looking GREAT! I can't believe you two have been working on the house for 1.5 wow seems just like yesterday i just started watching you but its been quite awhile since I've been following you guys. I just love the way you 2 do stuff and are simple easy going that's the way I am also! I've always been able to see something that others would say that's junk but i can see beauty and give it new life. Just like today going to see my younger brother and getting this beautiful OLD dresser and give it new life really excited about that . Anyways you guys a have a wonderful and blessed weekend .
Ashley you look so pretty. Your skin always looks flawless, but your hair is awesome today. It looks like casual beach curls and Im loving it. Y’all continue to be safe. ❤️
Good morning family. It sure was nice to see you this Saturday morning! The house is looking great! That snake was the coolest! The way he flattened out was wild! I love the way you and Ashley approach insects and stuff so that Maverick will learn that not every reptile and insect is dangerous. I’ve seen how Belle does with insects so she’s got a head start on Maverick which is a help when you or Ashley is not around in their immediate space. I’ll “see” you next video. Stay blessed!💕
Good Morning Doug Ashley Belle & Maverick, love the siding!Your children are so good &I love how Belle helps.Maverick is all boy & he makes me smile.Thank you for sharing your family & progress with us!I have learned so much.👏😊
My son (is three years old) LOVES your channel. Especially at the end when yall say bye. He waves and says bye too. Thank you so much for all the great information yall provide us too.
So many great things going on☺ Ashley, your hair and the blue top you were wearing during the explanation sections of the video look so pretty...Belle in the hammock by herself and with cutie Maverick💜 I am so thrilled for you all to be finishing up on the siding. Doug, you are an amazing guy..what a wonderful family!!😊🌴🌴💜
Wow, you’ve made some real progress looks good, if you find a product that works for you then use it, hopefully peoples opinions don’t get too opinionated because you’re doing a great job on your home they way you want, we all do things a little different because it’s what works for us at the time 👍
It is such a joy to see your vlogs! You are an amazing family, so humble, kind and with awesome skills. I really appreciate your content! Much love to all of you 🧡
I've been building my entire life my own company for 34 years and no matter what kind of siding that you use never do you use any kind of stuff in a tube meaning caulking glue whatever it is but no glue or csulk if there's a butt joint there are none rust metal thing to cover the butt joints for expansion love ya'll and we are so extremely Proud of ya'll
" none rust metal thing" is commonly called flashing, and is placed under the joint, not over it. I'd think 34 years in the business would have taught you to never say never. Just follow manufacturer's directions.
It's looking so nice! And hammocks are so enjoyable to relax in. I'm sure the compound you're using on the siding is just fine. Nice to see the cameos of the kiddos enjoying life. 💚
Good morning. Just another day in paradise with Doug, Ashley, the kids and their guest star, Mr. Snake. And now, back to my own back yard where the tree trimmings must be bundled for removal, minus the excitement of non-venemous snakes. Somehow, I feel disappointed. ;) The exterior of the house looks just amazin'! 😊 Enjoy yourselves and have a peaceful weekend.
Its funny that DAP says the caulk is for siding but not for butt joints but almost 98% of all caulk for siding applications IS butt joints of one kind or another. LOL It shouldn't give you any problems. Never seen a hog nosed snake, very interesting and beautiful. Again as always GREAT JOB!
Ashley that blue sweater looks amazing on you. Doing great guys. Belle is a great helper. Love the gadget you made to place the siding just right. God Bless.
Well after the slightly scary headline I wondered what was in the bad news. It will be interesting to see how the change of sealant will produce a different effect, somehow I suspect the impact will be less than dramatic. The house is looking good, you and the children had time to relax Belle is growing up so fast in all the best ways. She joins in, understands what is going on and is helpful. Maverick is still at the learning stage, not quite sure of his place, but they both looked very comfortable and settle in the hammock. That looks like a well-chosen buy for your situation. I am glad for you all that the main pressure is now easing. The house is almost done, though with houses things are never fully done.
Awwww love loved this video!! Getting close to finishing the house😜 looks so good ..... you two work so sweet together! Love that you guys got Belle and Maverick the hammock, they both look so happy🥰
Your house is looking so good! Ever considered boxing in your chimney (under the eaves) with a grey stacked-stone look? It would really compliment the colors you're using on the house.
Everything that i have seen you do looks right to me, and as you have said that your experimenting and doing your own DIY. I look at this way as long as you like it and enjoy what you are doing to your home thats all that matters. Plus you are learning as you go, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to learn. Knowledge is key on how we learn. The knowledge we know the better we learn to find new and better ways on how to do things better and faster. I think and feel you are doing a great job. Everything is looking so good with the work that you put into it. In fact you are doing a great job you are learning as you go, so just because it is not the way someone else would do it does not mean you are doing wrong, it just means you are doing it your way which might be easier or better than someone else. So just keep up the great work you have been doing, everything is looking great.
That snake was very cool. It was neat the way it moved backward. I am so happy you are teaching your children to respect wildlife. The house is looking amazing. As to the calking, I doubt you'll have any problems with it. Be well. 🇨🇦❤️
Your whole family is so neat! I just get such a kick out of watching your video's! Love when the kids are in them! Belle sure did like the hammock and Maverick looked cute with his sister rocking back and forth! Great job in the siding so far! Ashley, your so pretty and just glowing! Doug, your a work horse and such a sweet person with your family! Hugs to all of you! :)
You look so pretty Ashley! That color of blue looks nice with your hair and eye color. My husband came in and said, "Wow, she looks like Penny." (My sister) You could jump in my family photos and fit right in. :D House is looking great!!!
Great find! I have lived in Michigan 59 years and have never come across a hognose snake. Most of my time has been out in our fields, woods, pine "forest", and the hardwood "forest", pastures, and gardens. I have seen many snakes but never one of these. Thank you for sharing.
House is looking great, the caulk wasn't a mistake - just a learning experience - now you know the better choice. Belle loves her hammock and Mavericks face was well I think I like it. Oh, really like the hand held jig for cutting straight lines with the hand saw, the small bottom spacer really helps for placement.
Like the siding- its going to be awesome looking. Not so sure about the snake...I don't do snakes...almost peed my pants. Thought for sure you would get bit. LOL Hammocks are so much fun! No idea how many we have gone through here. Need one now, though...will be looking at the clearance section for one. Have a great weekend!
Loving the siding updates...love more that you are taking your time and you are happy with the way it’s goings. Ashley your hair is looking really pretty...I know we have days that just need to tie it up...but it’s lovely when you wear it down. 💝🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕
Good Morning, You guys seem to work well together. The Best thing about it all will be the Memories. You seem to make it Look So Easy But I know the work must get tiring sometimes. But You Keep Moving on to the finish line. I So much Look forward to seeing your Progress. Take Care ! 🏠🙏💖🙋😇
TODAY DOUG ASHLEY JUST BEAMED.. ASHLEY YOUR HAIR LOOKS EXTRA NICE TODAY. YOUR BLUE SHIRT MAKES YOUR BLUE EYES JUST SO BRILLIANT. YOU ARE SUCH A PRETTY LADY. YOU ARE SO TENDER & LOVING THE WAY YOU LOOK AT YOUR CHILDREN. I CAUGHT IT TODAY WHEN YOU LOOKED AT MAVRICK IN THIS VIDEO. I KNOW SOME DAYS YOU STRUGGLE A BIT.(WE ALL DO) SORRY DOUG TODAY IS ALL ABOUT YOUR BEAUTIFULWIFE.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.. GOD'S BLESSINGS CONTINUED FROM WEST-CENTRAL INDIANA FARMLAND 🇺🇸🚜
I think you could be a furniture designer the way you think and problem solve. Some of the furniture pieces are great. The outside is looking so sharp. I wish I was close enough to do the landscaping for you. That's one of my favorite things to do.🌼
You guys are so great! Thx for sharing your adventures and all your hard work! Your place looks fabulous! What a joy it must be to see this all coming together! Great work! What a team! Much love to all!
Looking great guys. Not keen on snakes not that we have them in UK except grass type. However I hope your children are taught not to touch any snakes in case they are venomous. I am sure Belle was upset she missed that one with its mouth wide open. Love the hammocks difficult to get in and out of them but fun for kids and you all deserve a treat now and then. Take care.
You've turn a tired 1970's mobile home into a Homes and Garden beauty. What a change.
house looking good. Belle and Maverick was having fun. both so cute. Ashley is a great wife helping you. I always help my husband in every chore we did. now we are seniors he helps me in the house. married 62 years today.
Beautiful 62 years ❤️ perfect couple ♥️♥️♥️♥️
My husband and I are celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary today as well!! Congratulations on your 62 year! May God Bless you with many more!!!
Norma Otts congradulations on 62 years. 💕
Congratulations Norma Otts on 62 years, what a gift
awe..that's a beautiful testimony to be able to share..congratulations
OMG. You've renovated so many times and people still think you're doing it wrong! Keep on being you, it's looking great 🥰
Yes!! What Clare said!!
Who cares what other people think, you guys are doing an amazing job, the house looks amazing and your kiddos are fabulous xx
No one could ever tell this was once a 1970's mobile home!!! It looks so good!!!
They do a wonderful job.....
Exactly The Posh Planet!
Hognose snake. My late 6 foot 3 inch city boy husband saw one and ran screaming to me "ITS A COBRA!" Ahhhh, good memories.
@Marilyn Gordy 🤣
haha
Hahahaa
Ashley your blue sweater looks so beautiful on you. That colour really suits you. I really enjoyed seeing the little snake. It had a strange mouth but it was so cute.
I’ve honestly never seen 2 such hard working people in my time on TH-cam! Ignore the keyboard critics. House looks awesome and I loved that snake!!!

Ashley your hair looks so pretty in that last shot. I didn't realise it was curley🥰 you always look nice. You are a beautiful person.
You two are so kind all the time when responding to comments. Such great examples in this crazy, mean world. Thank you.
I just found your channel about 4 days ago and have been binge watching your videos with my husband, exclusively! We really admire your work ethics and also the respect and kindness you show to each other and your children.

You are the Mister Rogers of DIY , you never get frustrated or angry. Also I hope you put some weed barrier type of fabric under that mulch.
That siding gives the house an actual house look instead of an old double wide. Anything you did made it look better. We haven't had enough rain here lately. Getting that siding all buttoned up just in time before the cold weather hits. You should have a beautiful cozy home to enjoy this winter!
Maverick wanting to go show the snake to Belle because she enjoys critters was so precious. Oh, and the house is WOW!
Yea, he's such a kind boy. He's always thinking of Belle when he finds bugs, feathers, etc. :)
Love how you enjoy the small pleasures of life. You take time to ‘stop and smell the roses.’ Dreading the end.😩 Hope you will have more projects.
That young lady is such a doll.....helping her Mom and Dad. What great kids.

I pulled a butt joint once. I couldn’t walk for a week and a half. 😂 I can’t wait to get out of work to watch this. I love your videos!!!
Ashley looks super pretty with that blue sweater and hair down kinda curly/wavy! Super cute!
Blue suits Ashley . Thanks for taking us on your trip and sharing your projects with us. Xx

You guys have done such an amazing job on your home, and to look at it now,you would never know that it was a older model home.....
It's looking so nice! And hammocks are so enjoyable to relax in. I'm sure the compound you're using on the siding is just fine. Nice to see the cameos of the kiddos enjoying life. 💚
The siding looks ggreat.I love it when you post your videos, I stop whatever I am doing to watch them.
Beutiful work guys. It’s a pleasure to watch your projects during production as much as when they are completed.
Its so satisfying watching those strips fit perfectly around the windows. The music is perfect!
Thanks
Its funny that DAP says the caulk is for siding but not for butt joints but almost 98% of all caulk for siding applications IS butt joints of one kind or another. LOL It shouldn't give you any problems. Never seen a hog nosed snake, very interesting and beautiful. Again as always GREAT JOB!
Ashley that blue sweater looks amazing on you. Doing great guys. Belle is a great helper. Love the gadget you made to place the siding just right. God Bless.
Aww Ashley looks so pretty with her hair down 💕
Well after the slightly scary headline I wondered what was in the bad news.
Beautiful house. You do such meticulous work and work together so well. You are the legacy of a true family! God bless you and yours.🥰
We kind of like it open so we can keep an eye on things :)
Ashley...the teal top you were wearing while you and Doug were explaining the joint sealant...THAT IS YOUR COLOR, GIRL! WOW!
Snakes yikes!! That snake looked scary to me. Hammocks are so cool. The siding is really looking good. Great job as always guys.
Coming Along Nicely! Ashley your hair looks so lovely in this video!
Love the siding...so glad it is done! Ashley, you look good in that color of blue!...your eyes sparkle!...God bless y’all and stay safe and healthy!
Lovely Ashley, inside and out. Lovely couple.
Your kids are adorable! The siding looks so clean and modern! House is great. Love how you guys work together!
The house is so pretty. Your foundation looked gray today. lol. Love a hammock.. Feels like floating on water. Yay Doug and Ashley!!!
Yea, for some reason the blue hue went away and it looks like a nice gray now :) Thank you!
That snake was very cool. It was neat the way it moved backward. I am so happy you are teaching your children to respect wildlife. The house is looking amazing. As to the calking, I doubt you'll have any problems with it. Be well. 🇨🇦❤️
Looking forward to watching your winter projects!
The house looks great. What a great place you have for your children to grow up.

What a cool snake ... wow
When Belle popped open the hammock so cute ! Love her smile .
Coming along great guys ❤️
You look so pretty Ashley! That color of blue looks nice with your hair and eye color. My husband came in and said, "Wow, she looks like Penny." (My sister) You could jump in my family photos and fit right in. :D House is looking great!!!
Haha neat. Thank you!
Great find! I have lived in Michigan 59 years and have never come across a hognose snake. Most of my time has been out in our fields, woods, pine "forest", and the hardwood "forest", pastures, and gardens. I have seen many snakes but never one of these. Thank you for sharing.
Ashley looks beautiful! Love your hair. Home is so nice!
How sweet is little Maverick wanting to show Belle that snake?
That was precious. He loves his big Sister 😊
He's so cute. He's always thinking of her when he finds cool things like caterpillars, bugs, feathers, etc :)
Ashley looks like your doing good . Sunshine helps a lot with moods.
Summer is the best time of year :)
I love seeing you take time for the children. Great parenting.
Thank you.
I thought maybe she got a haircut.
Take care.
