Doug & Ashley i didn't know they still made awnings. Nice color choice. Snow load won't be a problem. We have heavy snow loads here in the Northeast USA. Awnings installed in the 40's and 50's still going strong. I still say your going to need gutters to keep water and moisture away from the house. Are you worried about the tree outside your kitchen window? For railing i would use pipes. You can leave natural or paint. I'm so proud of the both of you. It really looks like a home and not a mobile. I love the retro feel, but new and modern. This should last your family a life time. I would pain the shop/barn roof a dark grey and the sides white. Do you plan on planting low maintaining shrubs/plants in from of the house? I watch many channels and you are respected by other DIY'ers. Happy Labor Day!

The awnings are great, didn't know Home Depot had them. We'll be looking for them the next time we're down in the valley. The bamboo rug will keep weeds and grass from growing into you walks, which is an added benefit. The mats are the finishing touch, perfect!

If the balance of the back door set up bugs you, try the visual trick of either attaching a decoration, bird feeder, etc. to the right side of your back door. If that's not an option, you can do a planting on that side to draw the eye over.

The house looks fantastic, you must be so happy :) I just wanted to mention something... as a person who had wooden steps in the past... wooden steps tend to get 'very' slippery over time once the weather gets rainy. You may want to coat them with a grainy textured paint or add treads to the steps so you don't end up on your backs in mid-step. As always, great job you guys! :)

This type of awning was put on a lot of ranch houses when I was growing up in the 1950’s! I had know idea they were being made again. You have transformed your mobile home into the type of ranch houses that become popular after the war in the late 1940’s-1950’s-1960’s complete with the aluminum awnings over the doorways. These houses are still everywhere what you did brings back a lot of memories. The resemblance ends on the outside what you’ve done on the inside is completely different and absolutely stunning unbelievably beautiful and innovative. Cheers to you guys!
What do you think of storm doors? I have lived in Michigan my whole life and I won't have a house without them. Insulation in the winter and open the screen on them at other times without letting the bugs in.

The steps will be okay. In every home we have lived in the steps have been exposed to the weather so it's not unusual for us :)
