What did you set the Insta Pot setting to? Pressure cook 30 mins? Also do you eat the whole bean or do you have to take the outer skin off? Thanks for posting!
Thanks, You press bean or set it yourself for 30 minutes but it has to be on high pressure. Yes , I do eat the whole bean. In the shops you can find skinless broad beans if you prefer it instead but probably they will cook in 15 minutes I think! . Take care🙏
I just bought some small Fava beans and the skin is tough after cooking it for 1:30 min. The ones from Lebanon are not like this they’re soft. Any tips to make them softer with skin or is it the type I bought?
Did you pre soak them for 24 hours before you cooked? You can also add baking soda to the soaking water as that will help too. After 24 hours, you can cook them as you did (make sure you have enough water in there). I usually cook them on medium for about an hour then turn to simmer after and the skin seems to soften a lot more that way. Hope that helps!
Thanks for asking, sorry my phone’s notifications are off! Yes, soak them for at least 12 hours but not 24 hours. If you are using the instant pot, use slow cook function or just use slow cooker. Good luck
@@JDmeals I developed stomach problems after having Covid and stopped eating a lot of things inc Fava ,but now I'm better I will try these again will let you know... l forgot I had some ! Fresh Broad beans are my favorite beans but they must be mature large with skins on for best flavour..and are hard to get in UK in summer.....that's why I have Fava as a second choice.
@@JDmeals I've had some Fava beans using a microwave as an experiment and found 15 mins for a large handful works ok with a little salt, before that I soaked them all night as usual, they are larger than yours and tend for the skins to be a little tough, but they were like that even cooked on the hob.I have had them for about 2 years plus in poly bags kept in the dark, they seem ok .no use by date.I wondered how long they would keep ? I'm assuming they are about 3 years old.
Oh Jon, I am not sure about 3 years though! I am doing some experiments with the microwave, I will definitely check out but I think , they might need more time! I will let you know when I do mine in the microwave 😁Will definitely share it! Thank you for the tip 👍🏾

Hi! You can get them from any Asian or any Mediterranean shop
From your accent i guess you are from The UK
