Back in my old country (Egypt), ful medames is an ubiquitous staple, and considered one of our national dishes. It’s a pleasure to see that this dish is also representative of Palestinian cuisine, and that it’s one of the many common ties of kinship that our peoples and cultures share. Thank you for this marvelous recipe and presentation of this simple yet delicious and nutritious Palestinian dish. Enjoy it, as we say in Egypt, _bil hana wil shifa_ (with joy and healing)!
I learned to make this from my Palestinian boyfriend many years ago. The way he showed me is a tin of small fava beans simmered with garlic, cumin, lemon juice, salt & pepper, then served with a glug of olive oil, handful of fresh parsley, and eaten with hands with flat bread, chunks of fresh tomato, and olives.

Palestinian cuisine. How wonderful to have access to such food - not only for the taste & nutrition but also for the ancient history of Palestine. I long to visit Palestine, free & proud. Thank you.
I made this for my family and they were almost confused by how delicious it was. They went from “Oh nice, a bean dip” to “what the heck is in this, this is incredible” over the course of a single bite. Delicious, nutritious, and the new (to us) flavor of fava beans. Thank you so much!

You nailed it. Amazing! Made it twice.... actually typing this while it is cooking! The roasted tomatoes, Yes! Really adds to it. Fresh sagnak bread and your soft boiled eggs.... our new favorite. Thank you
Girl, you make me feel that cooking (especially vegetarian) may be the way to help people of all race and religions to get to know and appreciate each other’s culture.
@Oz - I see where you are coming from, but I think what you said is on an international governmental level, and I agree with you when politics gets involved things gets messier. But it doesn't have to be this way between individuals. I think individually it is much easier to resolve our differences if we are willing to talk it out. The first steps toward resolving conflicts is always getting a mutual understanding of each other and actually starting good discussions. In democratic countries people elect their governments. If the people themselves are willing to discuss the conflict that is separating them, and understand the differences between them and their so called "enemies," the people could potentially have say in elections that choose the most adequate candidate. And what better way to start that than sitting with a bowl of good food and talk it out? Again, this is solely my opinion.
My wife is Palestinian and I just found your channel. We are enjoying the videos a lot and just made this recipe this morning for breakfast. We do Arabic breakfast regularly and love the additions to our usual boring foul recipe! Thank you so much for being there. Sahtein!

Aloha Nadia from beautiful Honolulu ! I tried your recipe and it’s amazing! I had to really search for the fava beans. We don’t have any Arabic stores and even Whole Foods didn’t have. I finally found small Indian store that had it! Followed all the steps including roasting the cherry tomatoes. Served w pita and white wine. Mahalo for your enthusiasm and great recipe!

Lived in a shared house in London 40 years ago, there was an Egyptian guy there that made Ful Mudammas for us sometimes. It was nowhere near as pretty as yours is but, l still remember how good it was. Will definitely be trying this. Thanks.
This is why I'm subscribing to your channel. I had Ful, decades ago and never got a straight answer as to what was in it. I cannot wait to make this over the weekend... thank you 😊
I just made this. The only variation was adding some grilled Mussakhan around the outside of the serving bowl and a nice blob of yogurt in the center. This recipe hits on all cylinders: no intricate prep or ingredients from another dimension, complex flavors but sooooo deliciously comforting and filling... If you don't make this you're missing out on a transcendent food moment. Thank you Nadia for a recipe I will return to again and again. Like tomorrow. And Ima make for the peeps at work.

I just made this for the first time and it was divine. Thank you so much for introducing me to this deliciousness. These days we have to bring the world into our apartments as we can't go out and see it.

Thank you very much !! I was not able to find faba beans. I used butter beans. I came out very good but I will try to find faba beans. Greetings from California.
I’m actually trying this garlic thing tomorrow inshallah - my mom just made a batch of foul today 😋 On a side note: I’ve heard that some people put charcoal in the middle of it to give it a smokey flavor, never tried it though 😄
Thanks for great video. I will make this. All my Palestinian friends eat olives, pita bread and white cheese for breakfast and tea? BTW, this is a very healthy recipe!
Miss ful so much. My favorite when I was in Jeddah. I just top it with fried garlic and olive oil. Sadly, it's pricey here in the Philippines cause it's imported.

Never seen you before, and subbed in the first 40 seconds. I’m middle eastern-American and I love learning from/bonding with my Arab-American and Slavic-American friends. It seems like loads of us have shared experiences and favorite foods!
Ditto!
Just made this and.... winner winner!! Had this a long time ago in Gibsons, BC and never found a recipe. My tummy and heart are sooo happy 💕

Prob my fave snack food youtuber! you make me proud to be Palestinian ! probably the only popular one I have come across some far. unfortunately I cant find fava beans but I will try this with garbanzo beans!
You're so refreshing and you lifted my spirit. Just subscribed. Never change a thing, just wonderful how you come across.
I have seen so many different versions of fava dip and yours is by far the best. It's tasty and the presentation is just beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to create and share this recipe.❣❣❣
Lived in a shared house in London 40 years ago, there was an Egyptian guy there that made Ful Mudammas for us sometimes. It was nowhere near as pretty as yours is but, l still remember how good it was. Will definitely be trying this. Thanks.
It must have been FIRE
This is why I'm subscribing to your channel. I had Ful, decades ago and never got a straight answer as to what was in it. I cannot wait to make this over the weekend... thank you 😊
this puerto rican is going to make this - this week. LOOKS SO GOOD and i LOVE all of these flavors
🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
Your cooking style is just amazing. Speaking my language with that dish specifically. Thankful to have found your channel.
I'm so happy TH-cam suggested me this video! My love goes to Palestine 🤍
Sold! I picked up a tin of fava beans by mistake last week and have been looking for a good way to use it!
lucky you!!!
Wow, WHAT A TESTIMONY- thank you for your kind words and so happy to hear you enjoyed the recipe. I try to offer these recipes and make them as accessible as possible so that means a lot to me. Alf sahtein and happy to have you here!
@ OH NO! IT'S JOE
DOLLOP Darling, dollop; not blob...
I think you add baked eggplant around the side with a blob of yogurt for pizza.
Sounds wonderful to me; I'm going to try that when I make it. Thank you for the suggestion!
(Awesome Channel! So glad I found it today.)
OMG I love Ful!!!!! 💖🙌 I also make this with Cannellini beans. Always roasted tomatoes!!! I will try with fresh and roasted together, thank you.

Was wondering what is Fava beans so I searched up for translation in my native language, Malay. If you’re Malay and wondering what is Fava beans, it is Kacang Parang (literal translation: Machete Beans). Now I can go find these in my local grocery store! Excited to try!
We call 'em board beans in UK
In America what are they called?
I have a spiritual appreciation for this beautiful food. Can’t wait to make it. Thank you so much for sharing something so dear to your heart. 🙏🏼

Yummy. I love how you mixed the ingredients.
Thank you very much !! I was not able to find faba beans. I used butter beans. I came out very good but I will try to find faba beans. Greetings from California.
Is it Faba o Fava?
I found the brand. Excellent!!
I’m actually trying this garlic thing tomorrow inshallah - my mom just made a batch of foul today 😋 On a side note: I’ve heard that some people put charcoal in the middle of it to give it a smokey flavor, never tried it though 😄
That sounds amazing! I would love to try it with some smokey charcoal. Great idea. Thank you for watching and sharing, Sahtein!
I just stumbled on your channel this morning and i immediatly tried this for lunch, and I LOVE IT THANK YOU
sahtein :))
Thanks for great video. I will make this. All my Palestinian friends eat olives, pita bread and white cheese for breakfast and tea? BTW, this is a very healthy recipe!
Best breakfast!! Yes!!
Made this. My hubby said it was the best dip he ever had! From a very picky American eater. It is amazing! He said,"it's like hummus, but better!"
Miss ful so much. My favorite when I was in Jeddah. I just top it with fried garlic and olive oil. Sadly, it's pricey here in the Philippines cause it's imported.
your personality drew me in... i have no doubt i'll make it awesome with your recipe! ty
Thank you! I had a Lebanese friend who also added tahini to this. We lived on it in college.
