    There’s nothing like a little surprise to spark a bit of joy. Matt Adams and Ju Row Farr know this better than most. Singular in its approach and deft in its expression, the design of their apartment in Hove, now on the market, is quite unlike most - and all the better for it, as we discover in our latest film.

    Not a fan of the plywood walls, otherwise a beautiful space!
    Personally I would have added a big flokati rug in the sofa area to soften up the atmosphere as it is very industrial looking. Bet the dog has fun living in all that spaciousness!

    I really like the place! The materials and the colour concept work great and the furniture is well chosen. Takes some talent to make the lime green look as timeless as here. 606 shelvings work everywhere anyways and the freestanding version looks like it is made for the flat.
    But I don't think the "coming out of the wall" idea works well for the kitchen. At least from the perspective at 2:30 the kitchen front doesn't really stand out from the wooden wall in the back which makes the overall impression look kind of unfinished. Not an architect but maybe it would have been better to make either the kitchen front or the whole back wall stainless steel to achieve contrast. A stainless steel kitchen front would also highlight the cool yellow colour of the kitchen itself.

    Love the space but imo, they could have done so much more with it, contrast with a wooden floor and more homely elements. I can't really see neither warmth nor enclosure whatsoever but then again, if you hate coziness, then that's a perfect place.

    • @hisnameisnikita527
      @hisnameisnikita527 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      That would completely destroy the beauty it has... the initial raw nature is a good opportunity for the modernism style they've considered not the "warmth" direction you have. And "coziness" is very subjective term, even though it's not very often considered as a criteria in this type of homes

    • @macheifach
      @macheifach หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@hisnameisnikita527I don't believe that coziness is subjective, I'm pretty sure, that the experience of coziness is something universal, embedded in our nature as humans, arising from thousands of years of evolution. There will always be a sense of coziness in the contrast of a homely interior and a harsh exterior. For example, the typical stereotype of a rustic cabin with a lit fireplace and a stormy day on the outside. No one ever will find that not cozy, unless you force yourself into being oh so contemporary, because you need to distinguish yourself from the plebeian, aesthetic bores. Then again, it's their place, if they like to make a mark as aesthetic progressives or whatnot, then whatever. I just find, there is disturbing lack of bravery for beauty nowadays in general (in music, art, architecture, etc.)

    • @hisnameisnikita527
      @hisnameisnikita527 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@macheifach But you completely eliminate the concepts of culture which modernism is about, we are no longer limited in perception of spaces by what's going on outside and how raw the exterior is, our needs are completely satisfied and people no longer need caves, that's the whole idea of this chanel and video: to show what goes beyond or aka "the modern house". You can also search what "Modern" means and what ideas go along it, it's not contemporary or cozy, it's a different set of characteristics

    • @macheifach
      @macheifach หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@hisnameisnikita527But then I need to know, what are the origins of those characteristic and if they are an expression of something authentic and genuine within the individual or if those characteristics are just an exercise in something, that has no correspondence of ones authentic self (like a trend, that is emotionally irrelevant but for some reason, people are following it anyways, until they realize, the trend never had any value for their life in the first place and they abandon it until the next trend). The artist / architect etc. has to answer that question: if a certain expression has a comprehensible counterpart within their own life experience and answer it in a way, I can follow the train of thoughts and comprehend, so it doesn't feel like arbitrariness. An no, we are never completely satisfied, but that doesn't mean, we can't take a modern interior and transform it into a "cave", where both characteristics are in an aesthetic AND cozy balance.
