Comic batwoman: strong, independent, and makes her own equipment.
CW batwoman: steals man's equipment, cries to her father a lot, has to be related to batman to justify existence.
For me I think these type of shows come across as sexist because it portrays women in a bad way. There are hard working, intelligent, amazing women out there and I would love to see more superhero women but they need to earn it. They should re cast Batwoman with an actress that is more bulkier and athletic. Batwoman could be trained by Batman and maybe Batman is off world doing Justice League stuff and Batwoman has to protect Gotham.
I love that in this reality women dont have any of their own strengths. They just take male aspects and throw them on women like loose fitting clothes. Felicity from Arrow was a great female character. She didnt need to take all the roles of a man, she excelled at her job as a support character and was a vital part of Arrows team.

You guys are making great points, thanks for that perspective. I mean that's how we all start out if you think about it. We focus on our strength in the beginning and then as we develop we can start to improve in other areas where we are aware that we need to work on to be well rounded. Gaining these tools and skill sets, I think will make for a better character development.

You don't have to make her masculine to potray it. It's why I love how the females in black dagger brotherhood are written. One of them is masculine but she's still a woman. I just want to make the point that the original Batwoman(Kathy Kane) was not a lesbian but was a love interest for Batman created during the Silver Age Batman comics between 1956-1970. She was originally created as a straight character due to many people theorizing Batman was gay.

So given the style of Batwoman in this show, I'm going to assume it's either filler continuity or a rework based on the DCAU movie Batman: Bad Blood, where Batman is kidnapped by Talia al Ghul and brainwashed into serving the League of Shadows, while Dick Greyson returns and dons the cape and cowl to keep Gotham safe along with Damian Wayne. At least, until the charade is discovered by Kate Kane AKA Batwoman. I'd lean more toward it being a rework because it looks like Batwoman's going to do the heavy lifting while Nightwing stays over in Bludhaven.
I'm not necessarily against the idea (I know, I know, hear me out), because we have Bad Blood already (with Dick Greyson leading the troops), and probably a new DCAU movie on the horizon featuring the entire Bat Family with the returned Batman back at the helm. So giving Kate some of the limelight in a new series with a different take on events isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's not really any point watching the same story in a different format. Coming up with a fresh storyline, focusing on a different character, can really appeal to everyone because it's something new and different.
Except it's going to be horrendous. Because of all the political bulls*wah!* they're going to pump into this series. You think Supergirl was bad? Batwoman's gonna be Bane double-dosed on Venom level of awful. They're going to f*wah!* it up, it's going to be a Mt. Saint Helen's equivalent of dumpster fire, it's going to be the death knell for DC live action series. BvS didn't even manage that.
I read Batman comics. They're cousins in the source material as well.
