@jack I mean, even putting John's obsession aside, Bruce befriended John with ulterior motives from the start, and kept abusing his trust and endangering a mentally ill man for a long time. (Bruce also gets plenty of chances to act like a complete asshole if the player so chooses, although that's a separate matter.) I know that he had good reasons and all, and Bruce can show some level of concern for John's well being even from the start, but even so... Their relationship is incredibly manipulative and uneven. I wouldn't go as far as to call this "a peak example of a toxic relationship," and I do believe they can eventually form a relationship based on genuine care and trust by the end, depending on the player's choices, but still... Can we agree they had a pretty rough start, to say the least? ^^; And, yeah, Lego Joker is a cupcake.

i generally hate the Joker x Batman ship because of how sistematically everyone just forgets every thing the Joker, a fucking terrorist, has done. But in this interperetation it somewhat works because he isn't really a criminal by then and just the attachment he has to Bruce kinda work in the ship dinamic.
This and the Lego version are the two healthiest depictions of BatJokes. (Don’t come at me but while I do understand Joker is a terrorist, it’s more of the love&hate aspect that got me into the ship in the first place. The constant “same side if the same coin and” “we aren’t so different” kinda of thing. It’s toxic but it’s entertaining)

Dude, I forgot how good this game was. I feel like I’m gonna have to go back and unlock the rest of the chapters now. I think it’s probably obvious that Joker is doomed from the start, but it’s cool to see what a reliable friend Bruce is to him and how we almost get a sense that, even though he’d still be unhinged, Joker could’ve probably turned out to be a different person under the right circumstances. I haven’t finished the game, but I get the feeling that they’ll end up having a conflict of interests and Bruce will be forced to choose a side. Edit: Joker flying off into the night with a grapple hook and Batman in his arms is ICONIC.
The voice actor for Joker knocked it out of the park. His delivery is mischievous and sly even when he’s saying the most genuine things, like his truth is a secret in of itself.

This reminds me of a podcast with the main writer for the video game Assassin's Creed Syndicate that I listened to a few years back. In one of the missions, one of the two main characters forms an unlikely and unexpectedly romantically charged alliance with a Joker-type villain. At the end of the mission, the villain kisses the main character. So the interviewer asked the writer about it, saying that it was a bit weird to him, that it was as if the Joker just kissed Batman out of nowhere. He then proceeded to realise that the Joker is probably in love with Batman.

I legit thought Joker had a little crush on Bruce but preferred Harley way more. I'm guessing he just sees Bruce as an idol or a best friend. Regardless, I really wanted to stay his friend because John's a nice guy despite him being a criminal. I hate how we have to be enemies regardless.
This reminds me of a podcast with the main writer for the video game Assassin's Creed Syndicate that I listened to a few years back. In one of the missions, one of the two main characters forms an unlikely and unexpectedly romantically charged alliance with a Joker-type villain. At the end of the mission, the villain kisses the main character.
So the interviewer asked the writer about it, saying that it was a bit weird to him, that it was as if the Joker just kissed Batman out of nowhere. He then proceeded to realise that the Joker is probably in love with Batman.
