    I saw Van Halen in June of 1981 at the Fabulous Forum on Michael Anthony’s birthday. The loudest concert I’ve been to. In 2002, I was working for Pacific Sales doing appliance installation, and I have a stop on my route that has the last name of Anthony on the order. Low and behold, as I’m pulling up to the house, there’s a guy waiting for me standing on a grassy knoll. As I approach him, he started to look familiar to me. I get out of my truck, and I say holy shit you’re Michael Anthony. I installed a washer and dryer in his house. He was so cool, and he gave my an autographed picture that I have on my wall. I miss him in Van Halen.

      With all due respect, his last name was Sobolewski. I wonder why he would put Anthony on the order. I mean, Anthony is easier to pronounce.

      That’s amazing!!!!!! My brother use to live in LA and he delivered flowers to Valerie Bertinelli from Eddie. He told me last week that he met Valerie, Wolfgang and Eddie at their house in Malibu at some point when he lived out their. He told me he is going to tell me the story about it when he sees me. He moved back to Philly recently, Finally!!!! I can’t wait to see him next few days to hear the story. I’ll post it up here. Hopefully he has photos. He was in a metal band and he restores rare classic cars. Some were featured in movies and videos . My brother Nikki and I were best friends and went to all the rock and metal concerts together.

      Exactly!!! Especially from the people who were here to experience them
      first hand. I have a folder from 6 th grade which is from late 80s that I did a beautiful Van Halen art work on. It takes up the entire folder. Glad I kept it. I just found it about a year ago. I loved them so much, especially Eddie. I got a bright blue electric G. And l taught myself. I had piano lessons when I was young. Was never good at reading notes and learned freehand.

    Eddie's unique skill was not the flash playing of things like Eruption, etc----- but beyond that it was his infinite compositional inspiration----- there would be more musical structure in any 8 bars of any one of his songs than there is in 90% of songs written by other bands. guitar or piano -- didn't matter -- he fit chords and rhythms and melody together more like a classical composer than a guy writing rock songs-- listen to Dreams --- each song is a harmonic little journey through the Elysian fields of the celestial music that was always playing in his head- ----- his ability to capture these fleeting impressions from that inner world was the result of a lifetime of dedication and discipline -- that's why there may be a lot of flash guitar players come down the pike, but there will never be another songwriter composer and arranger and performer like Edward Van Halen. entropy has taken over the gene pool.

      So what should they have done after Dave left?? call it quits? lol you people are absolute morons. The fact of the matter is, Dave left the band and VH had to move forward and replace DLR. Hagar was the only logical and musical choice. They had 4 hit records with him & they had like 10 top 25 hits with Sammy. It doesn't matter who is better, what matters is VH moved on an they were great without Dave. To be fair DLR band was great without VH. So now get back to your x-box since music is NOT your thing. You have no business discussing music with people who do know music. Hagar is a legend and VH was lucky to have him. We were lucky as fans. Gary Chorone was in VH and they sucked BAD. So obviously Hagar was a great choice.

      I like both eras but the showman thing is very overrated to me. If the song can’t be recreated to the fullest extent on stage, than I can’t take the singer that seriously. • @CoachingChaos
      @CoachingChaos 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alcohol is a drug, but except for very early on, from what I've read, it was alcohol, rather than harder drugs. I think he'd admit today that it took him way too long to get sober - his first marriage, which I believe would have succeeded without the booze, sadly ended, and his relationship with his son during Wolf's younger years suffered because of it. Seeing Wolf react to him while he was falling-down drunk was what finally pushed Eddie to get sober. Which was a great thing for Eddie and everyone in his life.
      But the cancers from the cigarettes killed him. If you've never smoked, good for you! For some of us quitting smoking was the hardest thing we've ever had to do. From all indications his addiction to cigarettes was as strong you're likely to see, but had he been able to shake those things earlier in life, say in his 20s? Or if he'd been one of those super-rare people who seem to be almost immune to cancer from cigarettes (smoke three packs a day for an entire lifetime and die in their late 80s from something else, having never contracted any kind of cancer) he might be with us still... might even be with us for another twenty years. Sadly for us, but mostly for his family and friends, he's not, and won't be, and I miss the hell out of him. RIP EVH. 💔

    I'm sorry listening to it non-bias lie cuz I didn't know any of this I side with David Lee Roth Eddie Van Halen every word out of his mouth comes out of this ego I know it's their band his last name Etc. Excellent guitarist no argument but that only goes so far people want the voice that's what people remember when I think of Van Halen I think of David Lee Roth I think of that raw rocking sound that I first fell in love with sometimes Evolutions not a good thing why do you think they call it van Hagar cuz it's a small group who actually likes the sound compared to a large group who likes the sound hints corporate Rock only plays Van Halen with David Lee Roth for the most part and that's based on pure numbers of what people like people like Van Halen with David Lee Roth if they could have got their s*** together it would have been awesome that's my two cents rock on

      just saying, the picks he'd throw out to people were not exactly the same ones he played with, there were at times a set he used that was different in style and texture to what was tossed to audience. I know this because i have some from that tour and the 5150 and ou812 tours. but thats a COOL story and memory for sure!!!!! you still have some i presume!!

      Sammy has energy that just doesn’t stop. He brought new life to this band and the records are proof of that. I saw Sammy in 81 in his home town and then again at the Fab Forum in Los Angeles in 83. Two of the best concerts of my youth. Ever grateful that I was able to do that with my best friends as a teenager. Rock on Brenda!
