      That's one of the best short phrases / statements I heard since October ! Very well put my good man .
      I am just now coming around , and becoming able to listen to the Music. I knew it would hit me hard but , the concrete is hardening and I'm struggling to accept that I , all other hardcore fans, fellow musicians , and especially those who were privileged to know him personally , or luckier yet call him friend , and I'm not touching a family quote on that , it's to sensitive. But it's hard to comes to grips with the fact that we now live in a Eddie Van Halenless world !
      I prefer the previous version . It's an against the wind , uphill battle that seemingly has no or a dim future. The World's connection with the human spirit has been knocked off its foundation , & guess what. Billie Eillish might not , but the rest of us do..........we've NOTICED. ! IT SUCJS knowing WE'LL NEVER BE THE SAME. I KNOW I WONT . GREAT QUOTE FRIEND !

      Yes, Eddie you were great! you certainly made a wonderful impact on the guitar by creating sounds that no one knew could ever exist! very few guitarists can say that? Then you had the two hand tapping and I once heard you make your guitar sound like an elephant! and everything was self taught! also the skills to play and pretty much build your own guitar "Frankenstein" from other guitar parts! and everything sounded great! and again SELF TAUGHT! you were like Albert Einstein but on guitar, I'm glad that you did exist, but I'm still going to miss you. A v h is definitely one of my favorite drummers ever. Peart on a whole different level as far as skill . Watch a peart solo, plays four different time signatures all at once, perfectly. Haven’t seen anyone else do anything close to that.

    • @crusheverything4449
      @crusheverything4449 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @James Smith - All are great drummers who have their strengths. Variety is the spice of life, after all. Sucherman is definitely deserving of those accolades and anyone of a certain vintage can vouch for Carl Palmer’s abilities. It’s possible Neil may be so beloved because he was one of rock’s best and most prolific lyricists, in addition to being a monster drummer. Those things are virtually impossible to compartmentalize, IMO.

He only began dabbling with it a short time prior to VH1, so at that time he still played very much in his original style, with tapping being a new addition to the arsenal. Over time tapping become more and more prominent, where early on he was mostly playing straight blues, but really fast, along with some of his own oddball licks. To my ears he really peaked with Fair Warning but I still have a huge hard on for those fleeting magical moments on VH1.

    My parents were dating and got to see Van Halen during this tour on November 15, 1988 in El Paso, TX. It was my Mom's first concert and my Dad's third. They saw them again on the F.U.C.K. tour in '92 when I was 2 years old. I'm obviously a big fan as well, even got the EVH shoes and flip flops.

    I almost forgot to add.."for being 41 years old in this video)"?..... Sammy surprisingly enough, is able to pull off the yellow spandex without looking like a total moron(maybe 60 or 70% moron,but fo' sho' not 100%)....lol .I guess I'm just saying Sammy looks pretty good for 41 years old in this video(no homo cuz I'm not gay). I just know that when I was 41?yes I could have worn those spandex,but they probably would have fallen off of me for being too loose.,... I can't help it but be 6ft tall and 140 lbs.With a 32-inch waist.I'm not on drugs or anything like that I stopped using drugs almost two decades ago.... I'm just cursed with this"Joey Ramone"type of body(my head's too big at the top of my neck,I'm way too tall, if you match my weight and height together.(6ft tall 145 lb)?...I look like a farmer from 1935 Texas dust bowl era. LLike I said "I don't do drugs"but either way I'm still way skinny and I look like some picture of a miner,from an 1875 photograph....LMAO.... In my opinion,this was when Van Halen began starting to lose a bit of popularity for younger people. Most likely cuz the songs weren't as good as the old ones?..and nobody could ever replace Davr as a front man and look like he fit on the stage with those other three guys(although I will say that the studio stuff they were making around this time in Eddie's studio, was just as good if not better at times,than some of the Latter-Day stuff that was done with Dave. Sammy couldn't replace Dave,but if it wasn't for him the band when they've got up until the mid-90s, with a decent frontman. I prefer Dave, but I think that Sammy saved them from falling into "flash-in-the-pan" obscurity(as far as the people who were with Van Halen since the early days? The only people that had any fond memories of the band were guitar players who respected Eddie.Sammy just was there to pump enough gas in their tank to get them another 10 years forward.He's definitely partially responsible for them being the rock and roll institution that they are considered to be.because if they didn't pick somebody as good as him to replace Dave they probably would have faded out,and Eddie would have been remembered for what he did but that's just about all that would have happened as far as their career was concerned. (but I will never stray from the fact that David Lee Roth era Van Halen will always be my favorite. I base that love on my teenage years)

Sorry I think his massive drug use and addiction for years and years , tarnishes Van Halen. Im still in disbelief that Eddie is gone and Van Halen is done.
    I can't help but think that he "still wasn't done" in terms of blessing us with more music.
    When you think about how it ended, it's kind of a bummer.
    But, the fact that I rode out the entire ride, from start to finish, is a gift in itself.
    I was a kid when that first album hit the airwaves, Van Halens music was the soundtrack to my teen years, and it kept trucking through til now.
    Here I am, 49 years old, seen them live, listened to every album inside and out, and here I am realizing how lucky I was.
    Thanks Eddie!! Thank you Van Halen!!
    RIP King Edward.

    The theatrical prior to the arena's being built in every mid sized city in the the late 70's was just fine. Arena rock was cool though but not as good as in the theaters. this shit is all about money.. They forced us from the big clubs and theaters that held between 200 and 2000 people to the arenas that hold 5 to ten thousand seats in the mid sized cities that were being built 2 years prior.. the big city arenas already held 15 to 20 thousand but those are only inside big cities. Then in the 90's they built these big out door sheds close to the out skirts of the cities that can hold 14 to 20 thousand people to sell more tickets and avoid the entertainment tax inside the big cities. Unreal. Now people pay up to 200 bucks for a lawn seat for some acts to watch a band on a giant video screen and can barely feel the thump of the sound system 100 yards back from the front of the stage. Only very wealthy people can sit up front for what we used to pay 7 or 8 dollars in the 70's and 15 or 20 in the 80's. It's very sad.
