The main concern on 2017-21 models is there has been a lot of reported reed failures with the O.E.M reeds. The Vforce solves that issue and gives better throttle response.
Jeff I just bought a set of VForce4 reeds for my '18 TX300 are they same part number for this '19 300 TPI I just picked up? I recently bought a new shock spring and few other things from your site wow! you have everything. Just discovered your channel and site recently great content thank you sir!
Hi Jeff! I want to ask you for advice. Recently wether outside is too hot and in the oil pump line I can see small air bubbles. Motorcycle is only 60 hours. After priming its disappeared but happened again after ride. Oil tank is full. Oil pump working well. Should I change oil pump? Clean oil tank? Thank you.
@josiahlopez2955 HI! I checked this condition on another bikes and it's exactly the same. Our machanisc say that small bubbles are not problem. When the weather is hot, the oil is too thin. So, during the riding, you make an oil shake that goes to your pump. Now, on my bike, 340 hours, and it runs well. Before every riding, I do primarily of the oil pump to remove bubbles.
Thanks Jeff , saved my bacon, thought I knew my bike; Plugged in the dongle and nothing happened. I thought I knocked a wire loose or something while in there at the reeds . Didnt know about holding the twister wFO and waiting 5 seconds
I have 2021 Exc Tpi, same has happened nothing has happened. I can not managed to bleed or prime oil through the pump. I followed all the procedure with the dongle 5 to 20 second intervals, there is no noise. Something is different in 2021 Tpi bikes i guess and nobody knows and tells what it is.
Jeff. I have 2021 tpi 250. After how many hours do you recommend changing the oil pump? I know the manual recommends after 80hrs but what about 150hrs? I know that some people say that if the oil pump works fine then don't change it on 80hrs because there is always the chance that after replacing it ,the new one could fail. Give me your thoughts here , Is it safe to replace it after 150hrs?
Hello: Changing the pump at 80 hours is a bit premature. If you look at the manual's recommendation for other wear items, you would have your bike apart all the time. 150-200 hours is safe. The pump is a simple device that is processing clean oil. We have customers with 400+ hours on their pump. slavensracing.com/shop/oil-pump-for-ktm-hqv-250-300-tpi-i/
@@slaverace1 wow thank you i didn't know that. Same question about replacing the piston if you could answer please. I ride my bike easy most of the time.
My 2019 300i prime sequence is not the same. I have the Mule GET ECU and my prime sequence goes like this; Throttle wide open, wake up ecu and start the 5 count. The oil pump starts to slowly click by second 3-4. I continue to count to 5 and release the throttle, the oil pump turns off and will ONLY pump at wide open throttle. What am I doing wrong?
I have a 21 300 XC- W TPI and did this process. Ever since I did the priming, my bike blows a ton of blue. Pretty sure I followed the steps accurately - even made sure all the clicking stopped. I started it up after, and it kept on blowing blue even when properly warmed up. Shut it off then heard that clicking sound again - clicked for like 10-15 seconds. Started it again went for a short ride and it was really boggy and blowing blue. Any ideas?
Hello: I have not heard of this issue. Sounds like the pump is stuck wide-open. Try disconnecting the battery for a minute then re-install the lead and see how it runs. You may need to run it up and down the road a few times to clear it out.
Yes, we have them in stock. Most guys change them because the stockers are known to break and suck in to the engine. slavensracing.com/shop/vforce-4-reed-valve-system/
What oil are you running through the tpi bikes I currently use the recommended motorex stuff but and wanting to switch to amsoil as I love everything from them. Any input appreciated.
- question- ...you visually pointed out that air bubbles are in the oil line at the start of the video. . next you plugged in the TIME plug and released the throttle. this step should have woken up the oil pump and primed the line in order to purge those air bubbles, however the pump did not cycle on. you stated that this was bc there was no air in the line. ---why did the procedure fail to purge those air bubbles? after a correct TIME of the oil line, does the air purge into the cylinder? if so does the gas tank need to be connected in order to purge the air bubbles/gas/oil mixture thru the injector and into the cylinder?
He said he went through it multiple time so he prob recorded the air, then reset the TIME without recording it, then recorded the procedure after the air was out.
Jeff Slavens in your video your engine light does not come on, when I do the time/prime my engine light is on the whole time. All I’m wondering is if that is normal or not..
Mines a low hour bike, 70hrs 2018, oil tank not leaking, washed it today now oil light on dash won't go out, I keep oil tank topped up, should I re prime, just incase...has 1/4 tank clean fuel in it and low fuel light on.., fuel filter is new
I learn so much from watching your videos... thank s for posting useful information.
Thx Jeff. Could you explain what benefits changing the reeds give these tpi bikes?

I’ve been having the exact same problem, but only 50 hours on the bike. Were you able to figure it out?

Do you know how long I should run the test, and how much oil I should be getting when I have a GET ECU? I have a 2019 TE250I

Can you change the reeds on a 2019 tpi bike an is there much benefits from changing?

Hey Jeff I have a ‘19 300 TPI you’re welcome to borrow. Where are you located bc I’m east coast.
Thank you for the offer but we are too far apart. I'm in Colorado.
What oil are you running through the tpi bikes I currently use the recommended motorex stuff but and wanting to switch to amsoil as I love everything from them. Any input appreciated.
Jeff, you need to sell longer lengths of the clear oil hose.
If it were 3 inches longer it would be a lot easier to remove the throttle body.
how to increase mixture on TPI exc 250 18? with manual (not from ecu)
The oil pump delivers plenty of oil as is and it is not adjustable.
Jeff Slavens oke tks, i’m stay in indonesia, tropical climate, i think its need more oil to decrease hot machine

Your bike runs hot because it is lean.
Jeff Slavens lean? I dont understand. I have seen video of people getting around increase mixture 2-stroke oil, from 1:80 to 1:60 or 1:50

You are talking about oil. I'm talking about fueling. You need a GET ECU to correct your issue.

When I plug in my wake up connector with full throttle position, I notice my engine light is illuminated. Is this normal? Thanks
Watch the video.
Jeff Slavens dash lights up but no engine light?
You're making it way too complicated. Plug in the connector and do what you need to do.
Jeff Slavens I’m just concerned about the engine light.....

Is this oil pump serviceable, is there a service kit or something, if so a service video would be great,
