as an amateur artist, I try to learn from my kids. My 5yo daughter has so much creative energy and she has this fearlessness, she just goes for it, she draws the first thing that comes to her mind, she experiments, she doesn't worry about "ruining" he artwork, and I love that, I strive to be more like her:)

I am at this stage now when I don't really like my drawings so I can ruin them or be very bold and harsh and draw a mess in my kitchen. I have to admit I create a very fun art now. Instead of striving for perfection all the time.
For the past 8 weeks I have been using just one sketchbook without giving me the possibility to explore other kinds of media. I have 4 brand new sketchbooks just sitting in my art room. I completely forgot about them!!!! Thank you once again Jess... Sometimes, for us the grownups, situations arise and you have to make the best of the day, even with just one sketchbook. What we, grownups, need to do is find someone that will helps us daily to open our sketchbooks and just draw and find ways to let go. And that someone is YOU. Thank you for keeping this old lady drawing almost every day. The day will come when I will be able to draw and paint all day! In the meantime.... there are lots of Jess's videos to watch and help me everyday!!!! Blessings to you!!

Incredible! This ended up being so much more than a sketch! Great point about eliminating distractions. Every artist has to find their own way with that, and it's sometimes very hard to do. For a lot of us, it starts with giving yourself permission to work on art- if you're a caregiver, or have other demands on your time, it's easy to feel guilty about setting aside time for yourself. Jess is great at reminding us that making art is good for us, and something we all deserve in our lives!

This painting is gorgeous. I feel like my five year old self would be doing is drawing flamingos and cats again. I grew up going back and forth to the hospital for as long as I can remember. My art has always been my way to heal and hobby. I hope to one day create a safe studio space where I can help others reignite their creative expression. I want to call it Phoenix Studio and the slogan is a place to reignite the lost creative spark from the ashes. My five year old self would be really happy I'm still drawing and be amazed on me embracing my scar more.

Special thanks to you Jess, for something in this video finally stuck. “I look forward to making mistakes and figuring out how to fix them.” Of course I’m paraphrasing but I think it was close. And then WHAM, it happened to me today! I smeared some wet paint while getting too close to the area, and guess what, I figured out how to fix it and one would never know. I’ve been painting for a few years now so wondered why I was still having trouble with the concept, giving up on countless paintings before figuring out what to do. This video has finally gotten me over that hurdle and now I know to look forward to mistakes. Blessings to you dear one. You are an inspiration in so many ways. Jess , I must say your artstyle , your techniques and your outcomes , especially with acrylic, gouache , watercolor and colour pencils is so mesmerizing and unique and eye-catching, your videos are just amazing 👏 , you really motivate and inspire me to grab a brush and start to paint ,,, I wasn't good or even okay okay with acrylics but your paintings motivated me try acrylics and I'm really seeing the progress, thank u so much 😊😊😊😊...
