  • In this video I will show you 4 Tips & Tricks on how to construct a head for portrait drawings. I use these all the time and they helped me tremendously with my drawings. There are a lot of tricks I didn't know when I started talking portrait drawing seriously.
    One thing which helped me incredibly was the quite famous "Loomis Method" by Andrew Loomis. I use it in my construction phase combined with other methods I discuss in this video.

    I've watched a ton of Loomis method tutorials, but this one is definitely one of the best! The video is simple but really well made. Just one thing: you should show the reference next to the final product at the end-that would make it perfect!

      Ohh thank you for this huge compliment!! I will make a seperate video just for the Loomis Method in the future. Thanks for the feedback, I will definetely put the reference next to the drawing in my next videos 😇

    Bravo! I struggled with drawing mainly because I never chose subjects with good lighting. I hope to learn from your example.

    Excellent! I really enjoyed seeing you apply the Loomis method to getting a likeness. Please do another few like this with the excellent commentary on what and how you are making choices. At the end you might consider showing the finished drawing alongside the reference.

      Thank you for your suggestion! I will add it to the list although usually I never just use colored pencils but mix it with gouache or watercolor. But who knows I might try it out!

    Thanks for this video i like the step by step way you take. I struggle with a very basic thing with Loomis method: when you draw a circle on the head picture, how large shall it be? What reference point do you take? Is the circle always touching some landmarks in the face? Thanks!!!

    • @SelinaJelovic
      @SelinaJelovic  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes I agree that part is tricky! I will do a seperate video about the Loomis Method in the future so I can talk about everything more. From what I observe the flat side circle touches the hairline on top and the nose line on the bottom. More indicators are that the circle will "touch" the actual eyebrows and the ears are placed within that flat side. When I do the video I will try my best to explain it! Thank you for your comment! 🙂
