- Hey guys! Today we step into the "future" of the daily driver supercar world: the BMW i8. This is our second time behind the wheel of BMWs halo car and one of their more expensive offerings with two doors. At the heart, it is a hybrid sports car, with a bunch of supercar characteristics. There's a lot to love about the BMW i8, which is why we brought along Jesse, the owner of this car, to chat about the 5 things we love about the i8.

As an i8 owner I couldn’t agree more with this video and someone finally understanding the qualities it brings to the table...except for the backseats having leg room haha
I like how you showed opening the door and having someone get out from the backseat to show out the car.
The girl getting in and out of the back seat was hot ! The owner said he opened the battery box, don't let BMW find out, they well void his warranty.
Thanks for the video. You're spot-on about all the things to love about the i8. I bought 16 months ago, a 2019 Roadster and I've never been so happy with car and for a whole bunch of different reasons. I've driven about everything on the planet and raced open-wheel open-cockpit formula cars as well. The I8 is just incredibly different than anything else and driving it often changes Minds.

The i8 is pretty fast in sports due to the quick gear switch, there’s almost no lag time. And ppl keep forgetting yes the 370 something hp is way inferior compared to something in the similar price range like a r8, but the r8 gets like what an anemic 14city/22hwy mpg? Only thing I gt complain is the fake noise. But the look alone n the fact that this car can still perform and u have the optional modes to save gas makes me not regret getting this car.
Same! Only thing annoys me even a little bit on my i8 is the fake engine noise. I rather listen music while driving than the fake noise. This is my 1st sports car where I listen podcast, music. In every other aspect I love the thing. It does not annoy me that it has the 3 cyl engine, if they only had made it louder (exhaust flap mode is a must).
I don't get all the hate this car gets...for 105k CAD you can get a super cool looking mid engined carbon tub/chassis with ridiculous gas mileage that's still almost as fast as an M4/4 or C63
3 cylinders. I haven't seen anyone take one to the track either so the handling sucks or it's not reliable. it has no M badge, but when this thing appeared as a concept car in the showrooms for the first time I wanted it to be the successor to either the M1 or the Mclaren F1. these cars used the real potential of M power. this one? 3 cylinders.
アマ you're totally missing the point and that's exactly what I was saying...of course we all want it to have 500+ HP but that's not what BMW wanted to make with this car why is that so hard to comprehend
well that's fine, but BMW stands for driving dynamics and motorsports, they went from building the powertrain for the fastest car in the world (F1) to building a silly 3 cylinder into a car which looks like a spaceship. if you don't understand how in my opinion the person who is making these decisions should be charged with murderer then you don't understand just how much some people care about this brand. it's about history, passion, milestone performance. now the new BMWs just generate money for shareholders and are about luxury, image, style, looks and economy. that's disgusting.
アマ I work for BMW bud and those high revving NA cars are gone. The ///M brand doesn't make the same type of cars as they used to, and they never will make them again. You're too funny, talking about murder. Do you have any idea why everything is going turbo and electric? Do you have a fkn clue why the new entire Porsche lineup top to bottom is turbo except the GT cars? Because the governments in Germany and Europe are extremely strict on emissions and fuel economy. If you drive a car into London that emits higher than a certain threshold you have to pay a fine! Automakers are literally FORCED to adapt to this or will die as a brand. They have NO CHOICE. So please spare me this person who doesn't make M cars like they used to should be murdered. Enjoy those old cars you love just as I do, buy some and hold on to them and accept fucking reality you child.
well so you get my point but you don't care about it at all? don't involve politics. I'm disappointed because they don't build pure cars anymore, not sure why you have to mention my corrupt government that's just another disappointment. but turning the entire brand including the M division into something it is NOT supposed to be (comfortable, luxury swag shit) cannot and will not be justified. to me the brand is complete garbage and just a paycheck for shareholders since about 2010. just wanted to explain to you where the internet-hate comes from it's not nonesense but the opinion of many fans, collectors and people who race/drive bmws.

There's one hilarious thing someone told me about the I8, and once you see it, you won't be able to look at it the same way ever again. If you look at the rear of the car, above and around the rear plate, especially with a two tone paint job, it looks like it's eating a porsche 911

Since 80% of this video seems to be the owner talking, here's my feedback for Marcus and Jesse. Don't worry TH-cam Commenters, I stopped watching after 3.5 mins and skipped to various points to check whether the content changed for the better.
Marcus: If the owner speaks that awkwardly, lisping heavily and talking a bunch of crap after making his initial points, limit the amount of time your viewers have to tolerate listening to them. Use jump-cuts, cut to other scenes; whatever gets the job done.
Jesse: Invest 500 bucks in some speech therapy, then ideally do some writing and public speaking courses, because you would really benefit from it. That's real advice mate, not just me being an arsehole on the Internet. The poofy lisp, weak phraseology and total lack of confidence when speaking is not a good look, however it is something that one can change with a modest investment of time and effort.
pmodd it was my first time in front of a camera recording a car related video so I was very uncomfortable indeed, i do in fact do a lot of public speaking being the founder of a startup having to pitch and present at conferences regularly and I promise you I’m not as bad as the video made me look lol. I appreciate the constructive criticism though, for the video i agree with everything you said, I also couldn’t help but skip ahead listening to my own awkwardness. I’ll get better :)

This guy is trying to say the suspension is soft enough to live with? Either he hasn't owned too many cars or he just doesn't know what a good daily driver suspension actually feels like... I can tell the suspension sucks for long drives because that small water bottle is constantly moving around while they are driving and it doesn't seem like they are on a bumper road at all!
Tommie Turner Ive had 8 cars in the last 2 years so I’ve gotten to live with all kinds of different cars, when I said the suspension was soft enough to daily drive I’m comparing it to sports cars. It obviously can’t compare to a luxury family sedan but that wasn’t what I was comparing it to. Bottom line it was daily driven for a month and there wasn’t a single time I can recall that I wanted to stop driving because it was uncomfortable, and I can’t say that about a lot of the other cars I’ve owned over the years
