It's great u are starting to include alternative cars within the same price range. Pple are often so locked in a car model that they forgot to look outside the box for better bargains
This is incredible. You actually have data to backup my intuition about the depreciation curve and underpinning my theory that this is a “super car” splurge I can justify. Will check if you’ve done similar for the Aston Martin Rapide and Bentley Continental GT!
@@fourwheeltrader Oh wow you actually replied! Thanks. Yes I watched your more recent video after commenting here and was very pleased to see that your forecasting in this one was spot on. Great stuff and love all the data driven analysis!
I subscribed and liked because as a scientist/engineer, I’m impressed by your excellent analysis. The downside I see is that, as a practical matter for those looking to buy a car, the value of your analysis depreciates quite rapidly after you post your video, because there is no online tool on which viewers can run their own calculation based on real-time market data for the particular car for which they’re in the market. I want to be proven wrong on this. So if anyone knows of an online tool I can use immediately to get the same or very similar results on any given day as a buying aid, please let me know. I’d even be willing to pay to be able to run this very analysis either by request, or run it myself on an online self-service tool.

Great analysis, i bought a 1.5 year old roadster in the UK list was £125k with 2k miles for £65k, I think that this represents good value due to the fact there are very few I8 in the UK and even the earliest high mileage 2014 coupe are around the 40k mark..

Fan of your videos man, I was wondering instead of just looking at historic data and (at the time of shooting) current prices - could you perhaps make on the go short vids on cars? Aka BMW i8 was discontinued in April 20, what do you expect happens next? Are BMW still providing full servicing and parts support for the model? Etc - just a suggestion! Keep up the great content 👏
Great video as always! Keep up the great work! In regards to your question at 2:54 in the video of Coupé vs Spyder you must have the titles accidentally reversed. The spyder came out in 2019 and Coupé has been out since the beginning. Most of the cars for sale are coupes not spiders. Thanks
Great analysis, thank you. Do you any analysis for other countries on the same car or is it the case that what happens in one market happens in the others?
Thanks for this analysis. It is interesting to see the high depreciation of the hybrid supercar. Can you please do some episodes on Tesla's?? Specifically the Model X and Model S?
Great video The car in Atlanta was priced this low because it was bought at auction for a low price by the dealership; the previous owner returned the car under the “lemon law”, which varies from state to state here in the US as what meets the criteria. From my understanding, there was an issue with the door but it was reconciled. Long story short, I was looking to buy the vehicle but the salesman sold it to someone else before I could arrive Don’t do business with LandRover Buckhead in Atlanta I managed to find one with less than 20k miles for relatively the same price in Tennessee
Thanks for the extra info. The analysis is a few months old and the 'best value for money' cars are now probably not available anymore or replaced by better alternatives. Did you end up getting the I8 in Tennessee?
Great work! There are a few cars that I know that depreciated a lot but it is hard have a concrete idea of which year and model will be the best deal. Thank you very much! What tool are you using for the analysis and ml? And did you build something to automate the data ingestion or did you do it manually?
Can you leave up the graph part of the video longer on the screen instead going back to your headshot? And maybe change the price axis to every 5 or 10k ? Hard to tell when everything is jammed up in the $50k-75k range Thank you for your video .
I like your analysis a lot. I agree post 4 yrs Dprcn is low my 14 loss about £4000 in 12 months( £300 a month ) whereas previous two years were £500 and £750 month respectively. I think 6 yr production run at a loss to manufacture might make the car a investment in 5 yrs although maintenance and servicing could get flakey on a out of production complex car. One fig you tout that I think is too weighted to new cars is depreciation per 1000 miles - yes it is a truly horrendous fig you quote for first 5k but it levels out to an almost straight curve (sic) thereafter so isn’t actually as mileage sensitive as I suspected it would be on your chart as for 10k mile car vs 30k plus car the price is not significantly lower which I’m surprised about. Chap who pointed out MY 19 are all spyders is right and spiders new are discounted in uk up to 30% but production ends in March 2020 worldwide, and when they are gone they are gone .....so I suspect spyders (only made for 30 months total) will be sought after 10 yrs from now and will start appreciating in about 5-6 years from an albeit low low base! Keep up the top work....ps I also have a Jag Type R that you did a good analysis on too...I suspect that one will just steadily depreciate to £30k/$23k then flatten out but unlikely appreciate given Jaguar continuing production ad infinitum!
And please note that properly all MY-19 are roadsters! and the fact that there are no Roadsters in any of the others MY! With Roadsters only sold as MY-19 and production stopped it will be very interesting to see when and at what level the Roadsters will flat out?
Yeah it will the i8 will stop production in 2021, the Vision M Next is replacing it. Most i8s that will be used are leased, most people that have one lease them and then return them to the dealership
My view is in the long run with such low production the i8 coupe 6 yrs and roadster 2.5 yrs it will be an appreciating asset like an SLS or Z8..... buy a new or nearly one at 40% off list now in UK (production end in March though so be quick) and in 5 yrs time you'll get minimum of 75% of your money back and perhaps even a tiny profit !
