Another great video Chris thanks. I am a big advocate of COMC, you did a great job explaining the benefits here. A couple things I’d like to mention to further encourage everyone to give them a shot. First on the shipping/processing delays, I believe they will get back on track after COVID, they are located near Seattle and were amongst the first states to get locked down and they are still recovering, they never missed a deadline for me prior to COVID. Second, they do have a less expensive option to list cards at .35 per card vs the .50, this price is currently suspended as they try to catch up. Finally, just a technicality but the actual fee to sell and cash out equates to 14.5 percent, not 15. The reason is the 5 and 10 percent fees are each taken out separately so the 10 percent only comes out of 95 percent of the sale. Example, a card sells for $100. COMC takes 5 percent leaving 95 dollars deposited into your account. You then request a cash out of that $95 and COMC takes 10 percent of the $95 ($9.50) leaving you a total cash out of $85.50. Not a huge difference but it does add up if you are doing significant volume.
All excellent points and all 100% correct: 1. Pre-covid, shipping times were totally reasonable and there is no reason to expect they wont eventually get back to that 2. The $0.35 vs $0.50 makes a huge difference when dealing with cards worth around $1 - $1.50. The $0.35 option should be back at some point. 3. You're spot on, its actually a little under 15%.
Have ordered 8-10 cards from comc and have only received 4, shipping times are real bad with COVID. Wasn’t shopping with them pre covid so I have no idea how it is. I’m sticking to reasonable shipping times and communication until things look better for others. Thanks for the vid!
Six months later and their shipping is still abysmal. Can’t keep blaming COVID. My EBAY purchase last week wasn’t sent out until a week after my purchase.
@@collectorinvestordealer The impression I've gotten from some of their recent messages is that the lower-priced option may be gone for good. I hope I'm wrong, because a break-even of roughly $0.80 ($0.50 submission fee, $0.25 fee added on to the sales price, plus a few cents per card to ship them to COMC) and periodic sales where a 20-30% is typical, that eliminates the possibility of both selling and buying many cards on COMC. I'm wondering if they're ceding the low end of the market to places like SportLots...
@@collectorinvestordealer hey man, just in the odd chance your reply i have a question, when buying cards on COMC, does it make more sense, as an INVESTOR to buy graded cards or just EX-NM cards, say there is a jordan card for sale PSA 9 for $500 but the same card UNGRADED EX-NM for $50, what would make more sense buying? thanks
COMC needs to pay you for this video...its super informative and your one of the best at explaining exactly what someone would need to know to get started in regards to the hobby in 2020. You speak in layman's terms with a normal speed that is paramount when step by step instructions are needed. Thankyou. I along with many others enjoy and appreciate your work and content. One of the best on TH-cam.
You are a fantastic orator of this trading card hobby. COMC is very lucky to have you as a free spokesman of their company. So many positives in using their service. Thank you for another great video.
Great video my man. I've seen many videos from even the most 'experienced" Collectors, who have explained Comc and none have come even close to the detail and more importantly, the simplicity, of this Video. Granted, anyone can get on the site and eventually, at their own pace, learn how to use it, but to get a general Comc overview and know-how in a nice, concise and effective video is fantastic! Thank you!
I'm just starting to use COMC for lower-value relic and auto cards. Definitely some advantages over eBay. One thing I've noticed on eBay that makes it more competitive for buyers is that many sellers are now offering singles with free shipping in a plain white envelope (PWE) or just charging $0.50 to cover the expense of the stamp. All of the cards I've received in PWEs have arrived in great shape.
Thats true, some ebay sellers are switching over to PWE. This in theory is most dangerous for the seller, as if the buyer claims they didnt receive it, there is nothing the seller can do. But you're right, I havent experience any issues with PWE.
I’ve been doing PWE for long time with no problem but I add an extra layer of protection that I’ve seen others do as well. Buy some thank you cards that come with envelopes and use them with your penny and card saver. You can find thank you cards sets on sale all the time.
The one thing that really confused me about COMC when I started out there 6 years ago was the condition names. When you initially ship a vintage card to COMC, it is often listed without a grade, but if you think the card is in great shape, you can submit the card for grading by COMC for a couple of bucks, or to one of the major grading services for a higher price. COMC allows some of the larger dealers to self-grade cards though, and their grade names may not exactly match COMC's. I can't remember the exact differences but, say, COMC might grade a card "NM-Mint" and a dealer might self-grade as "Near Mint-Mint". So searching for a card by condition is not quite as easy as it could be due to the mismatched grade names. (I emailed COMC for an explanation, and they responded with that information a few days later.) A couple of tips if you send in cards -- particularly vintage ones -- for the first time: If you send a card in a penny sleeve, make sure the sleeve is new and clean: COMC doesn't remove the card from its sleeve, and their photos reveal every flaw...even if it's a flaw in the sleeve itself. Also, if you're thinking about having COMC grade a card, be ruthless and/or realistic when zooming into their scanned images. If you're not used to grading cards yourself, it's easy to overestimate the condition and waste a couple of bucks merely to have COMC judge it as VG-EX, which depending on the card may not cover the additional grading cost. On the positive side, COMC did grade several of my 1970's Topps Baseball cards as either "Mint" or "NM-Mint", which has resulted in several selling at a significant premium.
Hi Chris - thank you for your video! One thing that may be important re the chart you shared comparing the 4 selling/consignment options. You listed the total cost to the buyer of a $5 card on ebay, including shipping and tax, at $8.50. I have been selling on ebay almost 6 months now and agree that's pretty accurate. You also noted the fees to the seller - at 15% - to be about 75 cents. At 15%, the seller would pay ebay $1.18. Ebay now charges their % on the TOTAL VALUE of the sale ... they charge the seller a percentage of the total, including shipping and tax. So you had the ebay profit at $4.25 with the cash-out profit of COMC at I think $3.82. Cash-ou for ebay being dinged for total value would be $3.86. LESS than COMC, with the higher fees to buyers AND the extra work to sellers. 15% is a fair average. I pay 13.25% in TV fees. On $8.50, that would be $1.13, for a net on $5 card of $3.87. As you point out, that's my time doing all the listing / shipping work, buying shipping supplies etc. I was shocked that my fee including shipping and tax? Maybe it did not always. Now it does. In dealing with cards worth under $50, COMC just seems like absolutely the best option for partnering to consign on singles. Especially commons. Thanks again for this video and your channel!
He has mentioned his personal collection isnt huge but i bet what hes got in there is some 1/1s worth the price of a house 2-3 of those is all you need lol
Great to see someone show and share personal experiences. It is much appreciated and thank you for shedding light on the hobby and the work that goes into it.
Thank you Chris for a clear & concise overview of COMC. I have not used them yet, but I'm seriously thinking about it after watching your video. Please make another if you have the time, but emphasize the flipping aspects more in-depth. Imagine if you had several of the Italian goalkeeper prior to a week ago. Then yesterday the Italians win the European Championship Cup & Gianluigi Donnarumma was named the MVP! I didn't look, but his elite cards must be going through the roof today.
I was gonna se d cups cards in wn they first started. Ut the way the grading process is ritnow HELLO COMC.IT WAS YR VIDEO KRYSTAL THAT GAVE M.E THE NUDGE I NEEDED.THANKSBUDDY.
Been using COMC since 2013. I found them out, only because I live in the Greater Seattle WA area so I heard two MSFT guys started this. Great way to sell low to mid cards. Good source to find deals. Primarily are great for cards thought. I know they've tried to do other products, but cards is where their bread and butter is.
This is the best video I've seen on YT in a LONG time ... COMC really needs to have this video on its page explaining ... thanks for this, love this video! ... also, need that Honus Wagner card vid ;)
Always appreciate the comments my man! Just checked out your channel and subscribed, very cool. T206 Wagner video is in the queue, probably not this coming week but most likely the week after that.
@@collectorinvestordealer Im honored and trust me, being a creator I get tons of requests as well and have my ever growing list too ... just know that if you do do it I will be watching! ... now, side note ... I was thinking just yesterday ... if you had a clearing house where a company could hold a card ... a company could then use various real time pricing data(not sure if this can happen) and offer OPTIONS on cards ... the key is the clearning house ... and after watching you COMC video ... I mean, the only hurdle would be the various different grades ... a card would have to be put in a grade container ... and that grade would be a "stock" for which options could be sold on the card ... this company offering options on cards might only do GEM MINTS in the beginning ... I can totally see this happening ... cards become like stocks ... and as with stocks, options can be bought and sold ... Hmmmm
Core Position Trading Similar to that option concept, in theory you could short a card’s value assuming you could locate at the clearing house. Many other issues involved in this as you ostensibly would be selling securities and/or commodities and may need to register with the requisite regulator. I like the way you’re thinking though!
Wow, these are both advanced ideas that I can totally see this happening. Whether it would be good for the hobby or not, I imagine it would be quite popular. The similarities between cards and stocks in 2020 is undeniable. I like the way you're thinking as well!
Core Position Trading & zeebags: Im actually going to include this in my news and notes video tomorrow. If either of you dont want me to for any reason, let me know by late Sunday night and I'll leave it out.
awesome awesome video....recently opened up my loads of cards that i wasnt seen for 22yrs and ben tryna figure out how to sell a lot of them that either i cant afford the grading process or the wait time. The bonus value for me is the ONLY thing you need to do is "set the price" and the hold everything in their warehouse. Only thing i need to ask is how do they accept payment from me for the card i send in and how would i receive my money back if i wanted to cash out some of it/ thanks for the great video. Appreciate it..
I could be wrong but my general feeling is that COMC graders give precedence, or take into greater consideration, the centering of a card overall when ‘grading’ rather than corners. I always seem to find a greater variance in grades of comparable vintage cards where centering seems to be the biggest difference. This would make sense if I run COMC and the goal is for an increase in purchase decisions being made by buyers. As a buyer on the site, it is far easier to discern the centering when comparing Poor, VG, EX, ‘graded’ cards rather than the quality of corners. we are trying our best to get the best corners on cards. Not easy when you’re looking at a scanned digital image of a card through a monitor or a phone screen. It’s tough.
Great video. I run a eBay store, do about 15k a year as a side hustle. I think COMC would be great to unload a lot of low end stuff, then use all that credit to buy a big chip.
I've been buying from them through ebay and they had some rarities at very good prices. And the cards have came looking sharp (so sharp the numbered cards and a Shohei SSP I purchased are going to PSA in the Nov special.).
Great video and inspired me to sign up! There seems to be massive advantages particularly for international buyers as previously buying low value cards was prohibitive, now I can buy from multiple sellers to either sell without any postage fees or build up one large order to ship, saving huge international shipping fees. If I keep them on account it also saves import taxes. Thanks again for the video!
I am in Canada. I buy cards off EBAY and have them shipped directly to COMC with my username. They get uploaded fast never had an issue. Then I flip them through COMC usually 1-2 years later when the prices go up. Obviously gotta figure out which cards are good value to make it work, but I vouch for COMC.
Good point about shipping and ebay. I live in Canada.and buying cards on Ebay from US sellers can charge insane prices for shipping. Frequently see $12, $15, even over $20 to ship a single card to Canada from the US. This is for a common single card ! Obviously I don't bother buying from these sellers which is a shame because it means I miss out on a large selection of card options. I will check out COMC to buy and sell.
Is there a time to expire a time that cards can sit on their shelf. What if you want your cards back. Im sure the 50cents per card is gone but is it just shipping fees
Awesome videos and thank you for taking the time out of your day, to provide such great content. I wish you and yours all the best and stay safe out there! Keep those videos coming!
I wish that they had the option to write a comment when making an offer. I just received my first order that I had shipped to Australia. Purchase date mid-April Arrival date mid-September. For the most part, the quality of the cards was good and the shipping materials were very good, and all the cards had penny sleeves. The time to prepare a shipment for the cheaper shipping options is extreme though.
Agreed on both fronts. The current shipping time for the cheaper options is extreme. I have to imagine that will slowly get back to normal levels. And being able to leave a comment when you make an offer would be a nice feature for them to add.
I told my co-worker about this channel. Come to find out he has a complete set of tops, flair, and upper deck from the years 1983 to 1993. Every baseball card ever made from those companies for those years. And he's selling them for the right price
I've been using them for a few years, I would like to find bulk lots as you so and go through them and find value, how do you know what is valuable. I know stars and greats of every sport, and jersey, autos inserts numbered etc.. I'm unable to find bulk lots and knowing what to buy and pass on
Hi - when shipping to COMC and the postal clerk asks what’s in the box- what do I say ? Sports cards or collectibles? Or something else? What’s the most you can ensure your cards for? Thanks
You can mark sports cards or collectibles or anything similar. I believe with the USPS there is no limit to what you can insure a package for, although I dont know that for sure.
Chris didn't hear about cards that are in their possession for sale and possible loss due to fire or who knows what? Are they insured in some way? And I read that after three months they charge for no sales?
4:13 I've spent almost $300 on shipping this month. As we say in Australia, "Not happy Jan". And we the Irish don't like it either, but yeah, if only they had one of those storage warehouses for MTG cards, etched specifically.
You're right, they do, although its very minimal. The first 90 days a card is in your possession in their warehouse, it is free. After that, they charge 1 cent per month per card. So if you shipped them a card, and you sold it one year later, they would take 9 cents storage fee for that card.
You didn’t mention they charge storage fees on cards every month as well. Cards you submit to the site are free for 3 months and then everything above .75 is a one cent per month charge. Unless you upgrade your account then it’s everything above 2.50. And does it still cost more to price cards 50 dollars and above?
Thats true, there are storage fees but they are negligible. If you send them a card, and it sells one year later, that will cost you 9 cents in storage fees. There is also a small additional storage fee for higher priced cards.
Amazing video, thank you so much. Not sure if maybe I missed this in the video (if I did, then apologies for asking), but when you submit to COMC, do you place each card in both a penny sleeve and top loader? Thanks again and keep up the great content!
Just sent in my first batch of cards to COMC and in processing status it says 5% complete but I have no cards ready to list. I did deposit money to cover up front cost, but have't seen any movement on my dashboard. How do I know when my cards are in their possession?
If you see the 5%, they officially have received them and have them in their possession. It will take a few weeks before you start seeing cards posted, but they will start to trickle in.
Wonderfully done and thourough thank you ! Have been on Comc for a few weeks now and want to send in a bunch of cards to them and this really helped as their site doesn't really explain the deal. What I want to know is say for example I send in 3 Luka Prizm Raw RC's . All the same and in great condition. On there for sale now is EX to NM for $370, Near MT to MT $1152.00 and Gem mint $2450.00 I am NOT a professional grader and if I'm looking at ea card and corners are clean etc, thats a big decision to be wrong on if I went to sell on Ebay and just having to list as Raw where Comc actually qualifies each raw card. I don't have a whole lot of VTG so I would hope their grades are accurate for what I would be sending..
Thats a great and important question, and the truth is Im not really sure. Giving a more detailed condition grade for modern is something they only recently started doing (and only on high dollar key cards I believe), so I don't know how accurate they are with it. You're right, thats an important distinction...
one more question, if I list a Curry card for X amount before he wins the NBA championship, now that card is worth XX, so how do I make sure a buyer doesn't get the X price?
Liked! Best COMC video I've found thus far! If you purchase now instead of purchase and relist. Are you then able to sell the cards you've obtained under inventory manager?
Thank you so much for your videos. After 25 years away from collecting a came back 1 year ago buying baseball cards. Your videos are so informative without talking down to people. I'm more collector than investor/flipper. That said I still have want to save money. Would it be a good idea to use COMC to sell base cards and inserts of star players along with rookie cards of lesser brands, (Gypsy Quenn, Heritage) to get some of the money back that I spend on hobby and retail boxes. Thanks again for the great videos.
Very cool to hear you've come back to the hobby! In my opinion, yes, COMC is perfect for that. I would just make sure the cards you send in are at least fetching in the $1.50 and up range or so, otherwise its probably not be worth it.
Yes, although if you have an entire order of current year cards, you should do a separate order as you can get those at a cheaper price ($0.35 per card). You can send two orders in the same shipment to save yourself shipping (one current year cards, one not).
Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer ok Thanks. I saw that rule but wanted to be sure that you could flip it: include some modern with mostly non-modern. Thanks Chris for all the tips.
Hey Chris, love the channel and don’t miss a video. Thanks for what you do. I have a quick question about COMC. When you submit cards to them do you recommend sending them in top loaders? I have a ton of cards in the $2 to $12 range that I don’t really want to fool with and they are just taking up space. They are already penny sleeved and top loaded so it would be more of a hassle to take them out of the top loaders if it’s not recommended send them top loaded. Thanks in advance for your help.
I always just submit my cards in penny sleeves. That is what their site recommends, although I dont think there is a problem submitting in top loaders.
Chris- Just got around to watching this video. My question is, will COMC post any card you send to them, regardless of condition? I have a few cards that have creases in them and are in very poor shape. They are vintage, but still beat up. Thoughts on this situation?
I don't like only being able to view 1 player at a time. In some cases there might be several from a year, series, competition, league etc you want, but have scroll through separately. Also COMC use ebay too, they have a store, not sure now that works can you auction off your stocks?
You dont have to view only by player. You can search "2018 panini prizm basketball" for example. Items on COMC are also on ebay, and you can choose to send them to auction.
Yeah, the shipping delays are heavy due to covid. The cheaper options are ~3 months at the moment. There are more rush options that are much faster but they are extremely expensive. Before covid, the shipping times were reasonable, 2 weeks maybe for the cheapest option.
Its currently posted on their site that the cheapest shipping option would arrive late December. Its possible on a 4-card order, they would get it shipped out real fast.
@Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer I believe you mentioned it really quick but could you clarify when they charge you their fees after they receive your cards for selling? I'm curious because this would be a difference in sending 1000s or 100s at a time depending on when your overhead cost is tied up.
Sure! They charge you the 50 cents up front. And then the 5% when the card sells. So if you send them 1000 cards, they will receive the package, but you need to front $500 before the cards get listed. This can of course sometimes be difficult to navigate.
Thank you so much for answering my question. One last one, In your opinion, at what price point (Raw) would you send cards to COMC to sell that is would make financial sense? Anything over $1, $2, $5?Thanks!
10% cash out fee? As you point out, the total fee is actually 15%, which is what most auction houses charge sellers. Wondering how COMC does on mid-level vintage cards (ie, 1948-1968 cards that would sell for $10-$100). Any feedback on that category?
I’m just not sure about one thing.....What cards can you send in? Any? Stars and/or rookies? Certain brands? I’m new to this but the video is awesome and very informative. Thanks so much.
You can send them basically any card. Stars, rookies, inserts, vintage commons, whatever. There are a few things you shouldnt send them.... heres the link to their supported cards description: blog.comc.com/comc-supported-trading-cards/
Question (said in a Dwight Schrute voice) : if you send cards in to sell, but then later change your mind and want your cards back, are there any cancellation fees, or would they just cancel the listing and mail them back to you (obviously you would need to pay for shipping)?
Battlestar Galactica. No cancellation fees. You would just have to pay for the sipping back. You would also lose the 50 cents that it originally cost to have it listed, but that would be gone already anyway.
@@collectorinvestordealer One other question - does COMC insure all of the cards? If their giant warehouse burns down, what happens? Best - they pay everyone their asking price. Worst - they just yell "I declare BANKRUPTCY" and everyone loses their cards with no compensation whatsoever. I assume its somewhere between the two?
One last question on comc in regards to vintage. I noticed some card they give a grade ExMt for example where other just say base or raw. It seems cards in which they gave a grade are listed for a higher price. Is it a different service level in which they assign a condition or is it just random?
The grades they give on vintage is one of the biggest weaknesses of COMC. They clearly dont have knowledgeable people doing the grading, so it appears random at times. If there is no grade, its supposedly EX or better. Most of the time when you see just a single grade (like EXMT), its a specific dealer - Dean's Cards - who I guess has the freedom to grade his own cards, and he charges insanely high prices.
Hi Chris great video! I sent 700 cards to COMC and they finally are being loaded into the system. It took 2 1/2 months! My question... I have a box of 1972-1976 Topps baseball cards in VG condition; what platform or service would you use to sell? Tks again
Ouch, 2 1/2 months, thats brutal. For the 1970s VG, I would personally sell lots on ebay. (100) different 1972 Topps, for example. (250) 1974 Topps, etc. Such lots tend to sell alright on ebay. Selling individually will definitely not be worth your time, unless you set up at shows regularly. If there are stars included, you could consider sending some of those to COMC, or making star lots on ebay as well.
A really informative video. I have my very first batch of cards at COMC. Waiting for them to show up for me to price. This video only increased my excitement to try this service out. Quick question. I have heard a number of times from a few different sources that COMC works best for less expensive cards. What is the concern with putting more expensive cards on COMC, like $500 or $1,000+ cards? Thanks once again for your time.
Appreciate it and congrats on your first batch! COMC is totally fine for more expensive cards. But since shipping becomes less of an issue the more expensive your card is, it sort of loses its advantage over ebay. A lot of dealers still prefer to sell higher dollar cards on ebay, as they can give personal descriptions, etc.
@@collectorinvestordealer Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. So sounds like if really don't want to fool around with listing your own cards on your own e-bay account and also since I am a non-dealer, you could turn to an e-bay consigner like Gregmorris for example. and have them sell your higher end vintage cards for you. Not selling my collection but selling off duplicates to fund purchasing of other cards and some will be higher end. As an aside, I have spent the last 3 hours today going to the Chris Virtual School for Baseball Card Collecting. Still have many courses to go ! You just don't know how helpful your videos have been. Collected as child/teen/early twenties and now back at it in my 50's :) Thanks again !!
Turning to an ebay consignor to sell your high end vintage is certainly an option. I don't know Gregmorris from personal experience but they have a very good reputation and from what I've seen, they get pretty strong prices. I would check their fees vs other consignors and COMC. Very cool to hear that your enjoying the videos and welcome back to the hobby!
Have you done a video on organization? I'd love to know how you handle different groups of cards like grading candidates, retired possible hall of famers, etc.
@@collectorinvestordealer Thanks for considering...price fluctuations have me constantly reevaluating what's a candidate and what's not...very time-consuming. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I am thinking of sending in some cards for the first time. One quick question. If I were to send in some cards and wanted a card or two back after a while if they don’t sell. What is that process? Just pay for them to ship them back?
@@collectorinvestordealer Thank you so much for answering my question. One last one, In your opinion, at what price point (Raw) would you send cards to COMC to sell that is would make financial sense? Anything over $1, $2, $5?Thanks!
Still working on my fist submision to COMC. Some work stuff came up and other things. Once you've made your first submission and pay the up front out of pocket - going forward does everything then just come off your account balance? For example if I had $175 as a balance after selling some cards, can I send another batch in and they would deduct the fees from that? Thanks! -Jeremy Setzer
Great explanation and video Chris. I'm still learning on COMC but it takes time like you said. Can you clarify the storage fees, on a next videos ? Thanks
Thanks! The storage fees are 1 cent per card per month, but the first 3 months are free. And it only applies to cards listed at 75 cents or higher (under 75 cents have no storage fee). So, if you ship them a card, and it sells one year later, you will pay them 9 cents in storage fees for that card.
Great vid. So I have a few questions... I open an account then just send them in? No quantity or anything? Do you send loose? penny sleeves? card saver? This is by far the most detailed video otherwise. Thank you.
Thanks! Yes, you can open an account and you have to select "start a submission" from your account page, and follow the instructions. There is a minimum # of cards that need to be in a submission, but its not much. I always ship in penny sleeves.
How does comc bill you? I don't see anywhere to input your credit card info. or anything. Once you send them your cards for sale and they input them into the system, do they then bill you?
On the left side of your "My Dashboard" page, you can select "purchase store credit". You can pay by a few different ways. They don't bill you, but your cards won't go live until you have enough store credit to cover the fees.
@@collectorinvestordealer Sounds good, thanks for the info! Also, when shipping to them, do you put the barcode for the orders on the outside of the package? I know you put it inside.
The Sportlots fee's listed is mis-leading. The more you sell the cheaper the fee is(can get it down to 15%)They also don't charge any fees for listing cards. Sportlots also has box orders to reduce shipping fees when buying from multiple sellers.
Why does every description of every vintage card appear to have an inflated price and owned by Dean's Cards? I couldn't find a single card not owned by them at prices miles above what I would pay at other places.
Yeah Dean's cards had an early agreement with COMC so they have a massive amount of inventory on there. Dean's Card's prices are incredibly over-inflated across the board.

Can't tell you how much I appreciate that. Thank you for being a viewer.
COMC is garbage. I've been waiting 4 months for my cards. FOUR MONTHS. But they are running auctions on eBay. What a bunch of bullshit.
This dude is literally my favorite card youtuber.
Thank you!

Well duhhh
You are a fantastic orator of this trading card hobby. COMC is very lucky to have you as a free spokesman of their company. So many positives in using their service. Thank you for another great video.
That means a lot, I really appreciate it. Stay safe, friend!
As an amateur collector/investor this is exactly the type of info I've been looking for. Just an awesome channel in so many different ways. Thank you!
Glad to hear you found it helpful and thank you for the kind words.
Thank you!
Thank you, man. I really appreciate that, it means a lot.
I agree , best explaining of site. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There's a lot of random videos about COMC on TH-cam but this is by far the best . Great job!
Thank you man, that means a lot.
(I emailed COMC for an explanation, and they responded with that information a few days later.)
A couple of tips if you send in cards -- particularly vintage ones -- for the first time: If you send a card in a penny sleeve, make sure the sleeve is new and clean: COMC doesn't remove the card from its sleeve, and their photos reveal every flaw...even if it's a flaw in the sleeve itself.
Love comc, their warehouse must be jam packed with cards, i would love to see a tour on how they keep everything organized.
Good point, that would be fascinating
I drive past a big comc building on my way to workout a couple times a week I want to walk in every time but doesn’t look like they want that
Theres none. I've had multiple requested shipments since january. Still nothing.

I'd love to see a video on how you catalogue/organize your stock/personal collection.
Thats a good idea, appreciate it, something I will consider for a future video.
agreed
He has mentioned his personal collection isnt huge but i bet what hes got in there is some 1/1s worth the price of a house 2-3 of those is all you need lol
Great to see someone show and share personal experiences. It is much appreciated and thank you for shedding light on the hobby and the work that goes into it.
Thank you for saying that
Thank you Chris for a clear & concise overview of COMC.
Your videos are very insightful. I appreciate how you just stick to the facts. Thank you!
Just went back and watched this, 7 months later. great content! Thanks!

It’s tough.
Chris, this was fantastic, but I came across it 3 years late. Do you have any updates on this? Thanks again, fantastic content.
Refering back to your chart at 14:40 what are people paying and receiving on Starstock?
Thanks for this info. Very Helpful. Good stuff to know.
Exactly! Very cool to hear that your signing up.
This channel should have 100 thousand subscribers easily. Chris is awesome
Amazing video!!! COMC it is. I have only bought from them but never sold. It’s about that time.
Excellent video Chris.I always learn alot from what you share.
Another AWESOME video, Chris! I'm Sold on COMC!

Appreciate the comment, Mike
Great info. If I buy a card on COMC and selected purchase now am I able to relist it later instead of asking it to be shipped. Thanks
Yes, it goes into your account, and you can just leave it there as long as you want and at any time can list it for sale at any price.

What does the blue / green price tag mean? Thanks.
4:13 I've spent almost $300 on shipping this month. As we say in Australia, "Not happy Jan". And we the Irish don't like it either, but yeah, if only they had one of those storage warehouses for MTG cards, etched specifically.
Should I be using sleeves only or sleeves plus toploaders when shipping lots to COMC. Say for cards in the $4-$10 range
When shipping to COMC, I always use just sleeves.
Very well thought out video, thank you. Doesn’t comc charge storage fee’s for your cards?
You're right, they do, although its very minimal. The first 90 days a card is in your possession in their warehouse, it is free. After that, they charge 1 cent per month per card. So if you shipped them a card, and you sold it one year later, they would take 9 cents storage fee for that card.
Reminds me of Amazon FBA for cards. Really good video!
Wow your videos are awesome and easy to understand 👍
It’s almost like you read my mind! I am fairly certain I am ready to send off my first batch to sell.
- Jeremy Setzer
Amazing video, thank you so much.
Not sure if maybe I missed this in the video (if I did, then apologies for asking), but when you submit to COMC, do you place each card in both a penny sleeve and top loader?
Thanks again and keep up the great content!
I personally just ship all the cards in penny sleeves, just making sure the cards are packed tight within a standard card box.
Thanks a bunch! Was wanting more info on then, ima check them out for sure!
What a great video!👏🏼 very informative straight to the point..
one more question, if I list a Curry card for X amount before he wins the NBA championship, now that card is worth XX, so how do I make sure a buyer doesn't get the X price?
change your asking
Liked! Best COMC video I've found thus far! If you purchase now instead of purchase and relist. Are you then able to sell the cards you've obtained under inventory manager?
Thanks! Yes, if you "purchase now", you can go into your inventory manager at any time and set the price to sell it.
Can’t recall if you mentioned how card should be packaged? Penny sleeves good enough?
When I ship them ungraded cards, I just put all the cards in penny sleeves, and make sure the cards are packed tight within the box.
Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer Thanks you.
@@collectorinvestordealer Chris, Can you mix "Current" year cards with non current? Into one sub?
Yes, although if you have an entire order of current year cards, you should do a separate order as you can get those at a cheaper price ($0.35 per card). You can send two orders in the same shipment to save yourself shipping (one current year cards, one not).
Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer ok Thanks. I saw that rule but wanted to be sure that you could flip it: include some modern with mostly non-modern. Thanks Chris for all the tips.
This is super helpful, even today. Thank you!
@@collectorinvestordealer Ok, thank you.
Chris- Just got around to watching this video. My question is, will COMC post any card you send to them, regardless of condition? I have a few cards that have creases in them and are in very poor shape. They are vintage, but still beat up. Thoughts on this situation?
Yes, they will list any card you send them (for the most part). If its a vintage card in low grade, they will mark it "Poor"
Very educational and well-explained. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
The shipping view showed cards would not arrive until December, is that correct?
Yeah, the shipping delays are heavy due to covid. The cheaper options are ~3 months at the moment. There are more rush options that are much faster but they are extremely expensive. Before covid, the shipping times were reasonable, 2 weeks maybe for the cheapest option.
That can't be right. I've bought 4 graded cards off comc as recently as this week. Got em in 4 days.
Its currently posted on their site that the cheapest shipping option would arrive late December. Its possible on a 4-card order, they would get it shipped out real fast.
Nice! You convinced me! I'm going to join, sell and buy on there!
Very very informative ,and well done Chris, thank you so much!
So if we list on COMC does our listing go on Ebay as well? Why do I see cards for sale on ebay that COMC is selling?
Yes, many cards listed on COMC are also listed on ebay
Thats a pretty big deal, basically cross posting for more traffic.. and does COMC automatically posts the cards we sell on ebay for us?
I think its some sort of random rotation
It depends on the card and how fast it is likely to sell, but as a rough estimate, I would say $2 is a decent cutoff
Very in-depth, thank you so much!
10% cash out fee? As you point out, the total fee is actually 15%, which is what most auction houses charge sellers. Wondering how COMC does on mid-level vintage cards (ie, 1948-1968 cards that would sell for $10-$100). Any feedback on that category?
I sell a lot of vintage cards in this price level on COMC. I wouldnt say its their bread-and-butter but Id say its pretty good.
With eBay's new PWE mailing service for cards under $20, do you see COMC as still a better option?
I use both COMC and ebay, they each have their benefits. The PWE option for ebay definitely helps
I’m just not sure about one thing.....What cards can you send in? Any? Stars and/or rookies? Certain brands? I’m new to this but the video is awesome and very informative. Thanks so much.
You can send them basically any card. Stars, rookies, inserts, vintage commons, whatever. There are a few things you shouldnt send them.... heres the link to their supported cards description:

Man, comc looks awesome. Thank you for the explanation
Awesome video, learn so much from your videos !!
As usual a great video. Well done and good info.
Thank you as always Brian!
So every raw card with no Note or bracket with EX - NM means that the card is NM M or GEM MNT?
Technically yes, although I would be very cautious in assuming that, especially with older cards.
Great video. I always wondered what this place was. Funny, I use to live in the same city they are located.
Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer thanks for the advice! Very helpful!!
Thanks my wife tired of my collection hope your well ty and godbless

Yeah you can leave it there as long as you want. ALthough they do charge a storage fee of 1 cent per month per card.
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I am thinking of sending in some cards for the first time. One quick question. If I were to send in some cards and wanted a card or two back after a while if they don’t sell. What is that process? Just pay for them to ship them back?
Yeah, you can have any of your cards shipped back to you at any time.
Yes, if you have a balance in your account, they will just deduct future fees from it automatically as they go.
@@collectorinvestordealer Thank you Chris.
@@collectorinvestordealer And that's it? No cataloging? they do it all?
Thats it
I assume COMC screens cards for authenticity? So if i buy on there I’m guaranteed the card is authentic if it’s not graded by PSA SGC BGS etc?
Yes, COMC screens cards for authenticity. I havent experienced any fakes getting through.
So if I send them 500 cards they will organize them and put them for sale? Or I need to explain what each card is and request a prive
They do everything, including organize them. The only thing you have to do is set the asking price. After you do that, they are up for sale.
Outstanding, what if u want a card but u feel the price is to high. Is there way to get in touch with the seller?
You actually can not contact the seller in any way. You can make an offer, but you cant even leave a note with the offer.
For cards that are $1.50 as you say, does the .50 plus 15% bring the profit to too little or do you still see that as worth it?
It depends on the card, but ti can still sometimes be worth it as some cards are just next to impossible to sell otherwise.
I dont put the barcode on the outside. Just include it in the package.
The Sportlots fee's listed is mis-leading. The more you sell the cheaper the fee is(can get it down to 15%)They also don't charge any fees for listing cards. Sportlots also has box orders to reduce shipping fees when buying from multiple sellers.
Thats true. Sportlots has some great discount features, for both the buyer and seller. But it generally requires bulk in either direction to apply.
