A mass of stool may cause an obstruction, although, if it passes with medicine, the obstruction usually resolves. Typically, bowel obstructions are partial or complete and have other causes, like I explain in the video. Hope this helps!
Hi Nabisenke, great question! The medications given will depend on the cause and, as stated in the video, most obstructions resolve with an NG tube and ambulation. But sometimes antiemetics, analgesics and prokinetics, which help increase gastric motility, may be administered.
