@@localshowershitter7590 Because that would spoil the mystique about who the Heart was at the time. Us, the player knows its Jessamine. But, Corvo does not.
“They dragged her away to the escape boat while she called for your name” I don’t know if that’s what it exactly said but she basically tells you that when you were poisoned they took Emily, she was screaming “Corvo! Help!” while she was taken, this made me wanna kill them even more
The heart is a large reason why I opted to do a no kill run of Dishonoured. It almost impressed a standard, that I wouldn't let Corvo sink and become a murderous psychopath like the city labelled him or become as bent on violence as his enemies or 'allies'. It's a mix of wanting to leave a good impression on Emily to become a proper monarch, whilst securing her path to the throne through methods that wouldn't harm people unnecessarily. Another separate objective the heart suggests making sure that the Empress didn't die to have her child become another Lord Regent and her lover and protector become a killer. Her soul's presence and comments give a goal apart from Emily's complete protection to renew the city itself and it's way of order to do what the Empress couldn't do in her lifetime
I thought the Heart and Jessamine having the same voice actor was just a coincidence, but part of me always wondered if it actually was HER HEART. I almost always forgot listen to the targets so thanks!
+zach10168 When first played i wanted to use the heart as a tool to pass a judgement on people, then decide if they should live or die. Hope Dishonored 2 is as good as this, but please let it be longer ! Can't have enough, propably the best title from this decade.
I read on the wiki where the dev said that the heart lives on as long as there are people marked by the outsider that the Empress cares for. I thought it'll end with Corvo, but now that Emily is also marked by the outsider the heart may continue to exist and her soul remains stuck and unable to pass on. :(
I honestly love the tiny pause when she’s talking about what *she* felt before before dying. And the anger when she asks if she’s meant to forgive Daud
I never got the chance to use the heart on the Pendletons, Prudence or Hirram. Too busy with the mission and afraid of getting caught. All I know is, they had it coming.
I hate when the game picks Lydia to be killed. I hate to see artists suffer. But I understand she's still a target. And, I think it's more story accurate, since she's described as the most secretive of them. I also feel bad for Esma's struggles, but unlike Lydia, I don't mind her dying.
yeah no offense, almost nothing this heart says is interesting in any way, I have no idea why people praise it so much. Everything it says is already blatantly obvious. "Campbell is corrupt" wow thanks for adding so much depth to this character. If anything, the heart is only fun to use on locations and characters that aren't important to the story
A lot of it is pointless, sure, but some of it is REALLY interesting: like Esma’s infertility. that’s not vital information but it adds character to the NPCs and can influence your actions. Like Madame Prudence: after listening to the heart and reading some notes, I decided to kill her even though she’s a civilian because of how awfully she treats her… employees lets say. Hearing that a random guard in Dishonored 2 did some sort of good deed that I can’t remember convinced me to not even knock him out because I didn’t want to give him a broken nose. The heart does the same thing that the notes and diaries do: provide context. It’s not essential to have, but it’s nice for it to be there nonetheless.
"...the last thing...the Empress felt was his blade.. " she wanted to say "I felt",..how beautiful
Why didn’t she say I ?

2:06 to 2:12 proof that The Heart contains the Empress's soul.
wow you're right! i didn't use the heart for listening much during my game play, which i should've

Never even considered using the heart to look into others in my playthroughs. Thanks for doing this
Really ? Every time I play, I try to use it as much as possible, when I don't take the risk of getting caught.
I never thought about using the heart on the Boyles …
I use the heart a lot in Dishonored 2 the quotes give everyone from main characters, to even npcs a sense of depth
