The Outsider in the first Dishonored was okay - he was just kind of there being a monotone smart-ass, with... seemingly the hots for Corvo. In the second one I like him a lot. Every interaction with him is interesting, especially with his increased body language - it feels like he's really interacting with you, creating more immersion. I look forward to every shrine because an omnipotent cynic is just what I need to keep me company. And in this game we get to help him this time.

People don't have problem with his character so much as they have a problem with the fact that they replaced his voice actor without even informing the original voice actor of the change. You have to admit that's kind of a dick move.
Outsider is great, no doubt. But Stephen Russel is just BRILLIANT . Absolutely nailing it. His voice and performance bring back the glory days of Thief, his voice is so iconic and unique. I can't even begin to imitate it and I can't think of any actor in the world with such a powerful, deep, gruff voice.
I *really* like how much more dynamic and personal the Outsider is in D2 and DOTO. It fits his backstory way better and is generally way more interesting.

I think that was just Corvo's lines, He was added into the game extremely late in the development process. The story was clearly written for Emily, so Corvo's lines just never really fit with the game IMO.
I wish that when Emily rejects the mark, she would say she’s doing it because Corvo hinted at the existence of the Void to her and that the Outsider’s mark isn’t worth it.
That'd be boring (and I guess that fits the character), it's like starting a rpg game with all the powers one would acquire at the end. There's no point in it, unless they make it a DLC where you could see some events that you couldn't with Corvo and Emily, since he's omnipresent and all, so that could be a feature.

Not even close, Robin does such an amazing job making this formerly monotone boring character stand out as this sinister yet oddly relate able character. The only ones that change significantly are Edge of the World, Clockwork Mansion, and Death to the Empress. Which really sucks, as well as the fact that he doesn't comment on your choices anymore, which lowers the replay value drastically.

He no longer has the grizzled attitude of a mortal who should not have seen so much across an unnaturally long life. THe playacting in his origin segment is also just an absolute no from me. i agree. as someone who’s a big fan of him and loved his role as oswald cobblepot in gotham, this character was just not for him. i used to not mind it but after some thought, his performance as the outsider fell flat when put side by side with lush. had he voiced him in both games, it would’ve been phenomenal

He felt like he was coming from a completely different place. How he was written was also changed, probably to fit better to what they wanted to set up for his back story post hok. You actually only get the outsider saying what he says at the start when you've beaten the game once (or beaten it on high chaos I'm not sure)
