Hey guys, to everyone new to the channel, I'd like to welcome y'all to my corner of the internet! If you're at all interested in lore, be it dishonored, prey, the elder scrolls, or something else, please take a look at my channel - and if you're just passing by, then feel free to do so! I've got lots of other videos on the lore of dishonored and even more in the works (though with a slower turnover rate given how I've been trying to evolve the content)!
In my opinion Dishonored 1 was really good then Dishonored 2 was good but tried too hard to capitalize on the “grab everything useful” and was worse off for it and the death of the outsider felt hollow and unnecessary (this is just my opinion but for the people I’ve talked to it’s a common sentiment)
@@angel__king Yea I feel like the games got worse as the franchise went on. DotO got the worst of it since it was just a stand-alone DLC of D2 and inherented all its bad traits. I still feel like every game is worth a couple runs though
Carson L in Dishonored 1 I would run the game over and over but dishonored 2 I got through 1 play through then get bored around the clockwork mansion every other time
Purely based on art, both the Dishonored games and especially D2 , are imo, hands down the best fp perspective games that I have the pleasure of experiencing. The amount of detail in every level of D2 is just mind blowing. It was clearly a passion project for Arkane.
Same here. But Modiphius just released a Dishonored tabletop RPG which they worked on together with some of the original game devs from Arkane, if you enjoy Pen&Paper games.
I love this game so much From the lore books, to the NPC interactions, to the mission design, Dishonored is a work of art based in a fascinating world I play stealthy first and foremost so I can eavesdrop and hear what people have to say
I really wish we got a 4th Dishonored. There is so much potential in the world of Dishonored. We could go to Tyvia and Morley (I don't think we should get a game set in the Pandyssian Continent, as its intentionally supposed to be mysterious and I wouldn't want the mystery ruined. Also there are no cities or towns there so the game just wouldn't work). Or even visit different parts of Gristol or Serkonos. So much potential.
Just finished all of the games and DLC, I cannot believe I overlooked it at the time its immediately become one of my favorite game series of all time. I pray Arkane Studios give it another shot in the future.
Honestly, I hope they don't flesh the world out too much. The mystery is a big part of the appeal. JRR Tolkien was pretty prolific in responding to fans who had questions about Middle Earth. In one exchange, the writer expressed some frustration with Tolkien in that every time JRR answered one of his questions, it was in such a way that left the fan with two more. Tolkien responded to disgruntled fan by telling him that making sure he didn't know too much of the world is exactly the reason he'd stayed interested in it for so long. What we know, we get bored with. What we don't know keeps us coming back for more.
Interesting re. Pandyssia : With the tendency for the devs to make the Isles resemble Europe, my gut feels as if in the same vein Pandyssia is a mix of the Middle east/Asia - when you said the lore has it be reported as being mostly desert and jungle its easy to see the real world geography and devs inspiration pattern allude to this! 🤔
Dishonored is my favourite game the setting the music just everything is amazing, sometimes I load up Dishonored and just stand in the streets of the various Dunwall districts and just enjoy the ambiance these games are great the first one is my personal favourite such a masterpiece
Ngl you deserve much more credit for your research into the game. I loved the first game as a kid and I just started the second one four days ago. Keep up the good work!!!
Is it only me or Dishonored world is heavily Lovecraftian at its core? I mean, if you read Lovecraft's books, you really would find many similiarities. People living in fear of two voids: cosmic and marine. Sailors returning mad from the sea. Outsider, a lookalike of Nyarlothothep. And general dreamlike atmosphere of the game (Lovecraft's books are very dreamlike, especially the dream cycle)
Dishonered is fire 🔥 and I don't know what I'll do if they don't continue the series but i want to know more about the world of dishonered like tyvia , Morley , and pandyssia .
The way I see it: - Tyvia is Russia and the Arctic, being largely uninhabitable and full of dangerous beasts, alcohol is a key part of the country both culturally and economically, what people do live there are kept in line with deadly prisons and secret police. - Morley in most of Europe like France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and Poland, they have a culture based heavily in music and the arts, they're known for diverse food and have a history of rebellion/war with their neighbour. - Gristol is England with bits of American, they're proud, imperialistic, industrious and eagerly adopt technology in the hopes of spreading their influence, have a powerful navy, they're the only nation with a separate police and military force (with their lawmen being particularly prolific) and they are seen to keep the clergy in check and the government mostly secular and they even seem pertty keen on the right to bear arms. - Serkonos is the Mediterranean reigon, so Spain, Italy, Greece ect; tropical with lots of fruit, their church is more like an inquisition than Gristol (having lots of outposts, engaging in gang crackdowns and extrajudicial operations) and they have a gendarmerie instead of having a sperate army and police force.
deathloop takes place in an island not too far north from tyvia, so it can't be that uninhabitable. i'd say tyvia is proably closer to belarus, ukraine and russia than the arctic.
