      My thing was I was a backyard boxer as a kid and then a gym rat for a few years before I actually got a sanctioned amateur fight. I could spar all night and not really get tired, so I thought I didn’t have to run. So I was like in gym shape for sparring, mitts, bag work, all that. But I fought this dude from Air Force that was 3 rounds of terrorism. I didn’t go down, but he pummeled me big time and I was completely exhausted before the 3rd round.
      Was it nerves. Oh ya you’re right that plays a big factor when you got friends and family watching and all that. But bottom line I didn’t do my track work or jump rope. I was lazy and over confident. And it didn’t help that my fat buddy, super heavyweight, had iron lungs and never got winded and never ran. Gifted dude and horrible influence
      So ya you want to make sure you got air and can throw constantly for the whole fight or you’re in a living nightmare. Nowhere to run nowhere to hide

    • @D3xTRb0y
      @D3xTRb0y 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      deanodebo yeah it's the worst, when you're body's screaming for air and arms are like jelly, then you have a grown ass man blasting hard shots to your ribs when u can already barely stand. Amateur boxing is all about fitness, strength and speed

    • @isky6841
      @isky6841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

  • @Jason-rs1wr
    @Jason-rs1wr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I do this 20-30 minutes straight every after workout as a cool down. But my punches are a bit lighter; more like a tap tap tap.
    For the leg work, I do pendulum steps non-stop for 1 round. Then switch to south paw and do it from that stance for another round. I keep switching stance until I can't barely walk. I prefer to do this instead of road work.
    For cardio, I prefer to do an intense HIIT workout.
    Boxing is an explosive sports, so doing these excercises can greatly help one improve.

  • @kension333
    @kension333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    My coach has us do this for six, two minute rounds with a ten second rest between. Switching back and forth on rounds from going as fast as you can, to as hard as you can. I can confirm that it's miserable, but also builds great stamina. Once it's no longer a real challenge, throw on a one or two pound wrist strap weight on top of your gloves and do it like that.

    Baruch HaShem! That was the longest three minutes ever! I am out of shape compared to this guy. I once saw an OG take a much younger opponent into deep time territory during a street-fight. Right before putting hands on the younger lion, the elder statesman prefaced his beatdown by saying: What? You tired? Oh! Thence commenced the ass-kicking. This brother is right about many things. The one thing, however, that stood out for me, was his mentioning of how lactic acid buildup compromises one's ability to sustain prolonged periods of combat. It is even worse when you are in a reality situation with no known time-limit, except for the doctrine of last man standing. I would hate to meet the presenter of this video in a dark alley or in a sun-filled valley with lilies or lilacs.

      .... As science and commerce dictates though, any heavy bag that is good enough to make it on the market for a while is made sturdy enough for any type of human strike without a piercing or slashing weapon in hand.. and perhaps a dull weapon if penetrating enough... When any human can punch or kick hard enough to break a real heavy bag... they will become greatest of all time fighter in their area of expertise or banned from fighting other humans as for their super human abilities. Whichever comes first.
      🥇... At least an honorary title could be given to them because of their disallowance from competing... Wow, that would be more of a curse than a blessing, huh? Lawsuits for would have, could have, should have insofar as lost purses go.... But I digress...😄

    My coach had drilled a couch cushion on the wall. The increasing resistence the depper your punch goes in and the fact that you wouldn't get an impact made it a lot harder.

    This is GOLD. I saw Floyd doing this years ago. Everything this man is saying here is 💯. This will also improve your small muscle reflex and strength and improve your mechanics greatly. You do multiple rds of this and you will be hitting the bag like a real man in no time

    We call this drill ‘suicides’ in our gym 👊🏻💥👊🏻.
    Thanks for the video 👍🏻

    Making sure you breath correctly helps get through it. I’m 57. Thought I had the stamina till I did this. Took me 8 sessions to get through hitting solid.
