I am 55 and just started training last year. I am not a boxer or fighter, but want to toughen up for the championship rounds of my life. These videos are awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience and motivation. I don't feel so bad after lasting only 1 minute on this drill 👍✊👊
🥊 You averaged 12 punches plus bop - bop every 5 seconds . That's 504 punches in 3 minutes. An average 12 ROUND fight averages 500 punches (and that's a high pace) .. so you condensed a 12 round punch count into 1 single round. You're the man 🥊
And then the very rare times he uploads them.. its at the end of his workouts. Not the beginning. So when ppl he's fighting they see a difference. He's actually mentioned this a few times in his career.
its not that bad you get used to it i have done it for years. ithought this was gonna be different from onw of my old drills but its the same. the key is dont punch from one side you need to have a stance like mike tyson and let your hips do the work instead of the shoulders.
I remember when flowed was first starting off his career everyone talked shit about how he didn’t know how to properly use the punchy bag but now literally everyone’s trying to copy him
I do a lighter touch version of this for 7 minutes after my boxing workouts... it's HELL! I never sweat so much than when I do this, always has me feeling sick!
😅I’m 59 and this man has been my daily companion on workouts. Just hit the timer and go. Took me a couple times to truly hit with power for duration but got it down. I do this every time at end of workout.
as a total novice, when my coach puts me on bag drills as hard as those are they make the workouts that follow even harder because i'm already drained by the time the 2nd half starts, its a true test of your stamina.
The first time I saw Floyd do this YEARS ago, I knew he was built different. The stamina required to keep Floyd's pace on that thing is borderline inhuman.
I've been doing this for years, ever since I first saw a video of Mayweather training like that. It is pretty cool and not boring at all, at least to me.
Man, all you people out in this world, I'm 56 year old methadone, pot smoking, pill taking nobody and I can train 15 minute rounds at any pace and I hate myself so much I wish I was dead, you can do anything if I can do one thing. Peace out. Very unhappy when not punching the bag

I've been doing this drill since the video came out few years ago, by the end you feel like the gloves weight 200 pounds. Tons of calories burned. Love it!
@@unk594 lol, sure thing champ. Question for you, then why do states like California, which still haven't opened up over a year later, and states like Florida which dont have mask restrictions and opened up months ago, have the same covid rates? I would have agreed with you a year ago when we didnt know what this was. But we now know this disease has an average age of death of 80, and the average all mortality age of death is 77. Young people are fine, and we've known this for a year now. Ironically, the book of revelation talks about this exact situation. And people like you too!
Your dozen lighter shots were a lot heavier than Mayweather's. Keep it up you're doing great. Anyone who's never done this before would never understand the burn. Thanks for the inspiration and video.
Had ACL and meniscus reconstructive surgery in February and I’m trying to get the confidence in my knee back to go back to bag drills. I’ll definitely try this when I get back to it.
In sparring, Floyd would do 40min sessions with up to 4/5 guys switching up while he stayed working, beastman, used to box myself, trust me when I say doing that with the kind of company he kept is f'n unreal
I saw floyd doing this in a short clip and thought what's he doing? He's not even hitting the heavy bag that hard. Now I understand, thank you for this I'm going to try it. I have a feeling though I'm not going to last the whole round though
Good old school. You look strong. Good snap. Loosen up. Lighter rep punches leads to no break in time and recovery of torsion. Just an old coach's input. Great wrk.
just did 3 3 minute rounds and not to say i haven't done this yet, but i love doing this, i really broke a sweat and is the best way to burn calories quick on the heavy bag.
As you get tired make sure to keep your punches palm down, good way to keep your punches in good form even when exhausted although this exercise isn't necessarily for that
Is it bad form to throw punches vertical the way Manny Pacquiao does it. Or the way it was taught old school bare knuckle days of Dempsey and Langford.
@@combatsportlover6919 not necessarily bad, other martial arts use vertical punches because of the way our wrists and knuckles line up - but getting your punches palm down helps with competition and having the leather of the glove do more damage to soft tissue and skin while rotating your punch horizontally. In a boxing match both types of punches are acceptable, we see loma throw vertical punches to pierce traditional guard all the time, but doesn't throw all of his punches that way. If you see the Mayweather video doing this work out he pronates his punches everytime. Which was my initial point lol sorry for the long explanation, wasn't sure if your comment was a question or statement lol

Thanks for these awesome contents, coach! I have your "Complete Boxing Training Plans" ebook. And I'd say it really improved my boxing skills. However, I'm having trouble doing a fight pace rounds. I tend to get too aggressive on the bag and gas out too soon. I just workout at home so I don't have a sparring experience. And I believe that's where my problem lies. I don't really know how to properly visualize a real fight pace rounds. I know I'm not in a position to ask you to make a certain video for us. But if you don't mind, we'd love to see you do a fight pace workout day. Like in 12 rounds, how many rounds should we go hard? Or should we start slow then go hard... Thanks a lot, coach!
The pace will depend on both you and your opponent. It could be very slow paced where both guys try to counter the other guy and be cautious. Or one guy could try to force a faster pace by upping his work rate and out hustling you.
Wow look; it’s the same heavy bag I have all nice and tight. Mines is all beat up, in need to be refilled, re patched up and hung. Man, I can wait to hang up my very own official bag for the first time.

Does anyone else love the sound of gloves touching the heavy bag?
