When I was a kid my mother had a copper, in which she boiled some of the clothes and sheets. She didn’t have a washing machine, but had a scrubbing board to scrub the dirty clothes. Most homes had a copper, before they had washing machine’s. The scrubbing board was a wooden frame with a corrugated glass plate .
Oh and she had a mangle, swqueeze the water out, I saw one in the background when you were in the Dubbo jail. A mangle has 2 rollers with a handle to rotate the rollers and you could adjust the pressure on what ever you were ringing out. My mum had hers set up between 2 cement trough’s. The early washing machines also had rollers, mangles attached to them.
I have never had a "Steak Dianne" pie. I cook steak Dianne with original French recipe - it tastes great and I love steak Dianne. So a Steak Dianne pie is a winning formula in my eyes. Interesting to hear Ray say that he was really impressed. That bakery in Dubbo is pretty flash. Mrs MacAlluster's bakery (shop area) here is deadset no bigger than "just one" of those front counters in the Dubbo bakery. I hope that Ray told them at the Dubbo bakery that they need to be selling Curried Fish pies because that is what most Australians eat?
Katrina here, bugger going to miss you in Narromine. Im not missing the negative degrees but 😂😂. Daughter in Gulgong said was -6 Cooks Gap . Use to live 30 km from Gulgong for 26 yrs and -11 was our worse 😅 . Glad you had an awesome time in Dubbo and enjoyed your birthday at the zoo . Glad bakery was up to your standard too. Yes the Japanese gardens and the Koi fish are majestic.
Any Cri birds at Dubbo Zoo? We ended up using the old copper for cooking sorghum to fatten pigs up. Asking young girls in a Fish and Chip shop for deepsea racing Bream will get a blank look. Thanks for the posting.
A funny story from this morning: As usual on a Saturday morning, I go down to the bakery for a freshly baked hot pie. When asked by one of Mrs MacAllister's girls behind the counter what I wanted, I said "a Curried Fish pie". She slapped me. I was in shock. I said "what was that for?". I told her that the winner of the best Australian pie for 2023 was the Curried Fish pie. And she slapped me again. I had to settle for a sausage roll.
Could you give me advice regarding fridge/freezers please?. EVAKOOL or Kings? My mate said to check out Kings at Kawana. But I thought I heard Ray say that Kings are not so good. I have had Evakool before and apart from flattening the battery when I forgot to turn it off, Evakool always seemed to work really well.. Cheers B.
Preferably a chest fridge/freezer - something suitable to store my curried fish pies in. I am mucking around the pie. I just got a new car for touring, going camping etc. All I am gearing it up for touring. I also have an Audi Quattro 80 saloon (beautiful car). One car is for touring, the other I use for huaring (I don't know how to spell "who-a-ring". But it means driving fast. So the Suzuki Grand Vitara is for touring. So I think a smaller fridge/freezer is better - maybe 45 litre. And I was thinking I might put an 82 litre fridge/freezer on the boat for fresh catch. The other fridge on the aft deck of the boat has no room in it - it is full of beer, bourbon mixes, and wine for my missus (silly drunken woman she is). So I hope that extra information helps? Cheers B.
@@cyrenacyrena3041 ok, personally, we had one of the new EvaKool's and I think they've gone downhill compared to the old ones, hence we got rid of it. Kings, well I can't say much about as I haven't used their chest ones. My old man has one, not overly impressed. I'm a big fan of the Companion ones, great chest fridge/freezers. Hope that helps, Ray
I was just thinking - you didn't say the crimes that those people at the gaol were hung for. I am betting that their crimes were "trying to sell Curried Fish pies in Dubbo". I could be wrong about that but it does seem to me to to be a crime punishable by death.
Love your videos... but... whats happened to the volume......I have my laptop volume maxed out and I still can hardly hear whats being said... and theres nothing wrong with my hearing either....lol

@@lorraineperry8232 Yeh, will be awesome to meet up!! Love meeting up with you guys ☺️ Thank You - I had a great day out 😁 And yes, a few of you have mentioned to bring back the cooking vids AND we've been asked about the Cajun Chicken, so sounds like a plan - will have to get her into it 😏😏
Well done, happy Birthday Em, hope you all had a great stay. Those custard tarts sound special. Best wishes and happy travels. Cheers.
Thank You ☺️😊
They most certainly were - definitely won't forget them anytime soon!!
I will bet that the German Shephards at the camp ground don't like Curried Fish pies as well. Grate video. Loved it.
Nah they don't 😂😂 Thanks mate 👍
Very interesting as always but you know l love these kinds of places . Enjoyed. ❤
Thanks Skye ☺️☺️

We used to boil mud crabs in the copper. I wondered why they tasted like old socks!
Great video and when we go to Dubbo we will definitely call into the bakery 👍
Definitely worth a visit for sure 😁😁👍👍
Another awesome vid, will check the bakery out in three weeks when visiting my son Josh

No Cri brids 🫤 Another different use for a copper. At the risk of having a blank look myself......????
