I'm a little confused, in Smalland wood is easy to get - you get plenty of wood just lying on the ground in the starting area near the elder and it respawns every day. For stone there is a quarry full of it right next to Kalev, one of the first NPCs you get a mission to talk to.
In this video I had only just started and although there are lots of twigs, I was confused why you could not utilise and tools for harvesting from plants. It is a different method than I am used to. I now have a pickaxe so I can mine stone as well but I had to find a bull ant and again they are not overly common initially. I am a cautious player by nature so running off without being prepared does not come naturally to me lol
Thank you, I shared this video on Twitter. This was exactly what I was looking for. I play a lot of survival games on the console and heard about small land but wasn't sure about it.
In all honesty they are not great games. I have done another couple of videos on Smalland since basically saying how I was wrong in most of what I said in this video. Smalland to me does feel like it has a smaller budget but at the same time, now, after playing for close to 200 hours, feels like a better game. It's weird
One of my favourite things about Grounded is the customization choices, you can play however you want. I haven't played Smalland so I'm not sure game customization is even available
There is basically customisation when setting up a world, such as friendly fire off etc. I will be doing some more videos on both in the future so hopefully they will give you more of an idea what is available
12:00 the grass and rocks do actually respawn if you completely remove them they just take several in game days so you do need to place foundations to permanently clear an area
Played and beat Smalland and started playing Grounded on PS5 recently... Smalland seems very generic compared to Grounded... Grounded has given me some serious jump scares....
@@DiceandDualsenses I was just playing for a few hours i can not believe the stuff that happens... I play with my girlfriend i was in the pond trying to get a key to a chest... She is at our newly built oak tree base.. All of a sudden a mosquito attack started at our base she freaked out!!! I start heading back she's screaming there ripping the house down im yelling kill em im on my way... I get there and by the time we killed em they did some serious damage... This game is insane and im loving it.... Thank god the whole base didn't come down..
True story! I was unfortunate enough to be running through the dark to have THAT music start up and I was spinning round to find out what was going on only to see it lunging for me with glowing red eyes. I tell you now, it was a good job I was sitting down and also a hood job I don't throw controllers or I would have been on the floor with a broken monitor haha
@@DiceandDualsenses It confused me too, like why can I only build a mini grass door! I will grounded doesn't explain alot of different things very well. I used google a few times.
Grounded is much more unique but man that game did a number on me. Something about the combat just never clicked, every spider was a boss battle. In Smalland once I got a decent tame it made things manageable, not trivial, but doable. If I recall correctly, Grounded doesn't (or didn't when I played) scale for solo play? So maybe it assumes you're in a party of 4? Maybe I should try again.
Yeah, it doesn't scale for definite lol. Spiders etc are boss battles until you get high tier weapons (Like spicy imbued) Smalland is without a more traditional game (just shrunk) but you can tell the budget was a lot lower.
Is that even without Mods? I have the pull mod which helps but don't remember the tek storage doing that, although it is a long time since I used Tek stuff!
I would have to completely agree there. For some reason I bought it and never finished it so I am currently playing the story and oh my God. Kagé poor Kagé

Thank you very much for sharing my video, really appreciated, and I'm glad it was helpful.
Debating on these 2 now not sure which 1 to get. My wife loves these games so i have someone to play with

You can play Grounded in 3rd person as well. There's a hotkey (U I think if playing on PC)
I'll have to work out how to do that on console. Thanks for the info
@@DiceandDualsenses seems it's done pressing the down button for the menu and choosing the top option.

I completely agree. I was just making another grounded video (release date unannounced) and daaamn it was only a little mite!!!
Oh and grounded is really polished in comparison

Yeah I still remember my first playthrough on grounded and coming across a wolf spider at night will make you crap your pants. Lol

In terms of the door in grounded, make sure you scan a weed stem in the science machine, you will be able to make a decent door from that out of weeds
Thanks. I literally worked this out 30 minutes after making the video, haha. Teach me to be meticulous and try everything!
@@DiceandDualsenses It confused me too, like why can I only build a mini grass door! I will grounded doesn't explain alot of different things very well. I used google a few times.
I feel this is the same in all survival games. Part of the "survive" aspect I guess haha
@@DiceandDualsenses Yeah true
Still annoying though. "Oh look a giant open world where everything wants to kill you.....how do I make a club.......anyone....no...okay......"

You can actually build with nothing in your inventory on ark. The materials just have to be in a dedicated tek Storage

As far as I know, I was able to do it in official with no added mods I know it didn't work like that in. Evolved
@emmittgooden3337 interesting. I probably just forgot then haha. Thanks for the information!
Who are you?
Who am I? I'm Stu

Such a good game. Finally completed and really hope they make another game like it. Amazing!
The game came out two months ago?
Smalland did but Grounded only came out on the 16th April
@@DiceandDualsenses nah bruh that game been out for two yrs
@DiceandDualsenses Grounded has been out for the PC for years now. It only just got its consul release recently.
The PlayStation release is what I am on about
Xbox came out at the end of last year, I think but PlayStation was only mid April
Guess the mainproblem is more, that you understand not how to play Smallland.
I did make a reply video to myself where I made this very statement lol
Grounded? 🥵
Yes?!
@@DiceandDualsenses 🥵🥵🥵
@KarateEMouse lol, I'm laughing because I'm confused. And I'm easily confused....
@@DiceandDualsenses lol I just get excited when I see grounded, you're good and good pick 🥵
@KarateEMouse Ahhhh okay. Haha it is a pretty special game to be honest!
Small land is literally a generic name…it’s like comparing Bugs Life and Antz
Both good movies in their own rights but yes, very different movies
