Absolutely, hit the nail on the head. I personally love his stuff like this, just goes to show the depth of his talent. He has several really well written and poignant songs in the catalog, his songwriting doesn't get near enough credit
Carlton Nelson I think that's because in allot of his early songs, Trey admits to not giving the lyrics a whole lot of thought or emphasis. "Stash" would be a perfect example. Incredible composition, nonsensical lyrics.
Man, all your fans love you Trey, myself included. How rad is it that this dude beat that whack addiction and came back to be able to play even better then before. Phish are such rad dudes, here's hoping they play for another twenty years. Summer of '89 gives me the tingle-shivers. Did you ever see the video of Trey playing acoustic in some nowhere place in 2005 or something...he was sick, dope sick, and playing bad...it was a dark time...but here he is, healthy, happy, playing well, the fans and his friends and family, we're all so blessed to have our dude Trey back on track and hitting the notes perfectly and fuck yeah, we love ya Trey!!!!
I love this man and phish as a band. they've brought me so much happiness in the darkest points in my life and I can't thank them enough for that. such beautiful people.
How Trey (& Phish) is omitted from just about every "top guitarist", "top rocker", "top songwriter" list is beyond me. He is one of the most prolific writers & genuine performers, blending so many genres and styles into a truly unique sound that resonates with my soul like no other frequencies. Follow his chord progressions, melodies and harmonics from Gamehendge into the Ghosts of the Forest and tell me you didn't find new pieces of you along the way. Conjuring profound curiosity, adventure, soul-seeking journeys, playfulness and above all love, Trey's themes continue coming full circle layering back moments, memories and provoking dreams that don't exist.
lots of people surprisingly. there are a lot of people who don't only not like Phish (which is fine, it's not for everyone), but go out of their way to insult and belittle trey and his fans.
Yes, this is true and I take solace in the fact that they don't know anything about Trey or his journey or his music. They speak from ignorance. They are scared because they don't understand and simply dismiss it and move on. Let them move on.
@@likeachimney I've met him 1 or 2 times. I'm only 23 so this was all 3.0 era, the first and most lengthy time was in 2009 after his memorial show for his sister at Carnegie hall in NYC. It's actually crazy how you can just see his happiness flowing out of his smile. He plays like it's his first and last time playing a song. It actually makes me melancholy how happy he is.....
The amount of joy this man has brought me, my friends and countless others is immeasurable. Eternally grateful for the music Trey has poured out of his soul to us. So lucky we are.
It might be because I've been listening to Trey for so long but, I think he has a beautiful voice- full of emotion and warmth, especially in an intimate setting such as this.
What makes his voice so beautiful is that he sings with intention and honesty. You can really feel and get a sense of who he is through his singing and playing.
What a genuine dude. He plays his heart out no matter what he's doing, and you can tell he really cares about his music. He doesn't take success for granted at all and I am really glad I've seen Phish three times in concert.
I’ve seen them 91 times and the word you said is spot on...genuine. He is so appreciative. And Phish is a band that takes nothing seriously, but takes everything seriously.
@@dylanp346 They're totally serious about being ridiculous. I just read a book about them and it made my memories of those concerts much more special, and it really made me appreciate the experiences I've had with their music.

Trey, I'm an older music head. His singing kinda reminds me of Clapton, never realized it until he stripped down like this. Phish never did anything for me personality but have and always will be grateful for the positivity they share with this world
I've been listening to Phish and TAB for the over 20 years. I love them now more than ever and most of that comes back to Trey. His spirit is infectious and creativity is seemingly endless. We are blessed to have almost 40 years (and counting) of music to listen to!

Though I don't remember the guys name, or even what he looked like, I can remember the first time I heard the band. I became and ardent fan. I would listen to them compulsively for the next 6 years, seeing them in 95 and 96 in Vancouver and then 5 times in short succession on the 1998 European tour (2 shows in Prague and 3 in Barcelona). The last show I ever saw was July 10, 1998 @ the Zeleste nightclub in Barcelona. Like Trey I am continually influenced and interested in new things. I listen to Phish for about 3 hours a YEAR now.
