Good review! The ZT3 shines when it's compared to almost any commuter scooter but as a 65.5lb machine with 11" tires, it should! On the other hand when it's compared to sport scooters it falls well behind in almost every performance metric, with scooters like the GoTrax GX1 and GX2 being two good examples. Now, those don't have apps or the Segway tech that comes with it but in the area of suspension, even the $999 (on Sale) GX1 is triple hydraulic sprung and far more sophisticated in the area of of off-pavement capability. In order to cast the ZT3 in the best light, it should probably be categorized as a robust commuter scooter. When thinking of it as a sport/recreation scooter, it comes up short in two areas, battery capacity and speed. Most similarly priced high quality commuters reside in that 23-27mph range. It would have benefited Segway to be at the upper end of that range. A relatively small speed difference of allowing say, 28mph from the ZT3 would have solidly distanced itself from the common class. The bigger issue is the 597Wh battery as this scooter is really scaled for at least a 720Wh battery. Best range tests for the ZT3 have fallen between 17-23miles (on pavement) greatly limiting is versatility as a recreational "go too" or vacation scooter. The 3.9A charger is a really nice touch but a 720Wh battery would allowed a lot more range of freedom when using it in the "fun/explore" mindset. Now, I've seen people having issues with the cruise control, annoying beeping, park mode complaints but those are all relatively simple and should be able to be updated as new firmware is available. Things like the battery size, you're just stuck with it. Hopefully in the future they'll offer a Max version but it's a shame that we'd have to wait when it could have easily been incorporated into this version.
I didn't realize the GX1 was selling for about the same price as this. I'm assuming the next big thing from Segway will be the replacement for the GT1/GT2.
@@landpet Yes the GX1 is back to $999 for BF&CM. It's a fairly serious scooter for the $ from a performance standpoint. Generally speaking, people want to know how fast scooters go, how far they'll go, how well they'll go up a hill, and then if it rides comfortably. Of course guys always want to know if you can take it on dirt trails... all of these favor the GX1 over the ZT3. A smaller percentage are interested in the tech and how good the app is, which favors the ZT3, while other's want something that looks contemporary and with the most brand recognition, again possibly favoring the ZT3. I hope it brings you many years of reliable enjoyment!
The charger fried itself when I was charging and right now my ZT3 is a dead brick just sitting there. Segway said they would send me a new one but they have not started giving them out for replacement or purchase yet and I’ll have to wait
Your the 3rd person I've seen with this issue in various youtube comments. I hope Segway steps it up and sends that to you ASAP. It's too bad that Segway is seeing issues like this because they have the time, money and expertise to virtually eliminate things like this. I will say, it's an awfully small charger for 210A max charge output. Usually chargers are scaled to provide a certain amount of heat sinking. Hopefully this doesn't bite a lot more owners.
is that san diego? looks beautiful. thanks for the review! im def getting one of these if they go on sale during black friday. im tired of my 15mph scooter ;p although I still love it.
I haven’t tried the range for this but most scooters get a lot less range then they advertise. The other reason is they typically calculate range on eco mode with a light rider on flat terrain. I haven’t done a range test on the scooter to know what it is but I typically get about half what they advertise on average with scooters
Avec ma zt3 je fais 10 kilometres de grosse montée en suisse avec mes 90kilos plus 15 kilos d affaire mais au plat je fais 35 kilomètres reel tout en mode sport
Another underpowered Segway scooter. Looks pretty nice but very weak and should have been dual motor scooter. And a tiny 12.7ah battery is nothing more than an insult.
Compared to the powerful ones, it's not as good but which scooter is better for around this price? I'm genuinely asking, cause I was honestly very impressed with this.

This would’ve been a must buy scooter if it had more range. Still a good looking and quick little scooter.
It is a great scooter, range will be lower cause of the higher top speed on this thing

@ unless they change the charger itself I fear it’ll happen again just a matter of time
I charge the scooters in a cool area. I'm assuming you did the same and it still fried?
@ yeah it’s like 65° in my place
ZT3 Pro is $1300, GT2 is $2500, and G2 Max is $800
The ZT3 pro was retailing for 1100 in the US

Ventura county, just above La
if it's more than 1.1k 1.2k it's definitely not worth it. I built a 60v 20ah 90amp dual motor 6000watt 65mph scooter for $600
Those are impressive specs, scooters like that cost north of 2.5K
Range is a lie, real range will be 30km, and in forest(for which it designed) range will be 20km. I really wish Segway stop lying about the range..

You can get a lot out of it with eco mode and downhills with weak or standard regen
@@landpet Even in ECO and 75kg weight rider in +25 temp it will not lasts and they told. This is just laboratory testing in vacuum like lol

Yea I did a range test on my channel 20km off road
Ponle 3.3 bares a cada rueda y cogeras 25 km/h
This thing can go about 25mph (40kmh)
max speed??
24 on the speedometer, did see it hit 25 a couple times
Mph
I feel the max g2 is still better.
They missed the mark on this one.
Gt3 please🤞
I like the max g2 as well but this one’s better imo
How to unlock
Setup the code in the Segway app
@ sorry i would say the speed limit at 25 km/h ?
I bet they make it really difficult. Good luck

@@landpet Punk Rider Pro is significantly better than this scooter. No comparison whatsoever.
