That pie looks incredible,I have never tried hot water pastry,as I wouldn’t eat pork pies as a kid,it was the jelly that put me off.As I watch you making a lot of British style foods,I think I must have driven my poor Mom mad,as there is very little of traditional British food I ate as a child.I grew up mainly on vegetarian sandwiches,though I did/do like things a lot of other people don’t,liver,kidneys,heart,mackerel,fish pastes,sardines,pilchards,but I never liked battered fish from the fish,and chip shop.Now I eat from all over the world,do you eat Thai food,I would imagine that with all the food you create for TH-cam you have plenty to eat.I am about to make a flat bread pizza,shiitake mushrooms,pepper Jack cheese,lots of red pepper flakes,and oregano,with a cup of coffee.
Made 5 of these in 4 inch tins recently (did maths and doubled I gradients). 2 pies amply served myself and 4 guests with enough left for my lunch the next day with a drop of brown. The guests enjoyed them that much that I gave each couple a pie to take home and stuck one in the freezer for myself. It’s a corker!
I would never have thought of this kind of pie, but it's looking so delicious, and it's giving me ideas of other ingredients to make a pie. Thanks for the video.

Absolutely delicious, swapped the sausages out for currywurst sausages and the result was a ridiculously hearty, warming and filling pie. Mash, greens and onion gravy round it out beautifully on the plate 😋
Ok. I'm going to look for mushy peas. I don't like peas but I DO like split pea soup. Maybe it's the ham seasoning that makes it palatable for me. Crust, sausage, onion gravy, layer of diced green chilis😎🌶
I have been going pie crazy since discovering your channel, just found out what my next one will be! Its a shame we dont do pies much in the US, all we really have is pot pies and they're usually more like soup in a crust

You could try, Pea puree: Cook frozen peas in chicken stock with diced and cooked onion in butter. Green Split Peas: Blend green split peas to create a mushy pea alternative. Posh Mushy Peas: Cook peas and broad beans and blitz them up with some creme fraiche, to add extra flavour you can add mint, parmesan, lemon, sea salt and a few grinds of pepper. Leave as much texture in as you like.
Rik, these peas look very different from the ones we have here in Virginia. The only thing that has the same consistency are butter beans, specifically the tan dried ones cooked. They get mushy like that.

They are delicious and especially with that HP brown sauce he was using. I also love those peas when puréed into a soft texture, especially with battered fish and oven chips.
