SAVUTI & CHOBE (& Corona) - Lost in Africa Ep 5 (Finale)

  • *I must first apologise for this taking so long. I guess there was something about editing the finale that made the trip being over real, so I avoided it for months.*
    We had plans to travel Africa for at least 6 months. Letting the road guide us north. I needed to fly to London at one point for a commercial, but it didn't really matter which large city I flew from, and my mom was planning to fly up to join Bianca for a mini adventure while I was away. The only deadline was for a shoot in Rwanda three months later. We wanted to reach the Gorilla's, do a lap of Lake Victoria, and then head back south through the famous reserves of East Africa. We sold most of our furniture, I sold my house, this was not going to be a short journey.
    Then out of the blue a global pandemic hit, and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere. The news seemed to suggest it was out of control and we would be better off staying in the bush, but we were also scared of the borders closing around us, and we were on temporary tourist visas.
    I hope you enjoy our journey!
    Please share and subscribe if you would like to see a Season 2!

    Cool & interesting vid & some really great sequences. I so identify with your observations about Africa. Was bitten by the bug in 1964 - it’s incurable.
    I will be doing an epic Overland (NBO to CPT) with Bots being a major component, so love your advice ........

    Thnx & Bon Voyage.

    • @LostinAfrica
      @LostinAfrica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When are you planning on doing it? Maun to Moremi is pretty straight forward, but from there North is a little trickier, we went through Savuti, which is a beautiful route, but the sand can be treacherous in the hot dry months. The roads can also be flooded in the wet months, so the best bet is to ask for local advice while in Maun. When we were there Moremi was so wet that they closed the entrance gates for a while.

    The visuals are stunning but the background music could be better. Some good African music would have elevated this video. The volume of the music is higher than the commentary so I had to constantly adjust the volume. I hope you can fix these issues going forward. And thanks for showcasing the beauty of Africa. I have visited the continent 5 times since 2003 (8 countries so far) and am looking forward to my next trip!

      Thanks for the feedback Sharath. Unfortunately the royalty free/stock african music is terrible, im also trying to modernize the whole genre. But point taken with audio levels, i have got a LOT better at that if you watch further, this was episode 5, im almost at 50.
