Lost in Africa
South Africa
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ม.ค. 2017
I'm traveling around Africa (mostly) telling conservation, adventure, and overlanding stories!
I sold my house, my furniture and most of my camera equipment so that I could make the trip of a lifetime through Africa. I bought a Toyota Fortuner, named it Jabari (Brave One in Swahili), and kitted it out from top to bottom with every imaginable gadget for a 6 month trip. Corona Virus forced us to hit the pause button 5000 km into the journey, but it didn't stop me.
I went in search of conservation stories.
I aim for documentary quality production with the access and budget of a smaller youtube production.
Certainly the most incredible passion project of my life!

Great video! Could you let me know what kind of window mount you are using? Thanks!
Any chance you still have that video they sent to you to help? This thing is difficult without proper instructions... lol
in africa when they have something that is good they have to break it!
That’s not true.
Bianca is looking for an alpha, not a beta
🤣🤣🤣
@@LostinAfrica Bianca must also be laughing...knowing now that she dodged a weak-ass pansy. Laughs & reliefs all around!!! Thanks for confirming you're beta
@@LostinAfrica Bianca is also laughing, knowing she dodged a beta boy. But, hey, keep clowning yourself, fool.
Beta males @ 8:51 don't start camp fires
Alright little man.
Help me understand...you are driving through the rural countryside in your automobile ALONE, and wearing a surgical mask @12:53?????? In what world would any clear thinking person do this? It's no wonder why that chick left you. She longs for a strong MAN and a Leader who can be a critical thinker.
This was one of the most inspiring videos… As a Mozambican I made my first visit to Chimanimani in July last year after seeing this video. It was amazing, I went all the way to Chikukwa… not driving the Jibari but a 2014 Fortuner. Since then I went again in Sept and this time I took a friend when we did a trip all the way from Maputo to Lago Niassa. Thank you for your stories and the way to tell them… they are really inspiring. Hope to catch you on the road next time you visit Mozambique.
Ah I love to hear stories like this! Thank you!!
well done. Ive enjoyed your videos. Thank you
Glad you like them!
Going there in June for 4 weeks self drive also... researching. This is great guys thanks!
Hope you enjoy it!
Am new here but I have seen most of your content but am seeing your girl in old videos is she oky?
We’re no longer together, but I believe she is healthy and happy…
Tim, I wish I were a legend like you just awesome. Your experiences are definitely something epic. Great work bringing it to the viewer.
Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Just came across this now, Tim. What a beautiful place Mozambique is! Nee, fok, man, that's bad that she left you. Sterkte!
Life goes on but thank you! I am healthy and happy noe!
I now understand why people wander off and each and every day the spirit grows in me to just go and wander off too and live 😅.. Great video mate, as a Mozambican I’ve never seen these parts of Mozambique before wow 👌🏾..
I think we should all wander off at some point! And thank you! 🙏🏻
Another great video, Tim! That feeling of near anxiety, of being almost overwhelmed by isolation is, I believe, not uncommon among people who find themselves alone in the wildernis. I remember the first time I felt that: I was six and had walked into the veld about an hour from Jansenville where we lived at the time, I I vividly remember feeling that someone or something was watching me, and a general sense of unease that only went away when I saw the church spire again.
Man, what a lekker adventure! Thanks, Tim, for allowing me to experience vicariously what I would otherwise never have.
Really enjoyed this awesome episode. Well done.
My beautiful cantry Mozambique 🇲🇿 🇲🇿🇲🇿❤️❤️❤️🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿👍👍👍
Yeah man 😊
I still can't understand why you don't have more followers. Wonderfull Video. Stay Safe.
Haha me neither but thank you! Honestly I think it’s about consistency of posting more than anything, my work work is too busy to keep the posting consistent! But i am in the process of hiring more staff to try change that! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 thanks for the support!
Nice video.. pity about the stickers on the road signage
i got pulled over in mozambique without an international licence . thought it would cost me a lot , but he let me go , none of my Safa mates could believe it
Great video Tim. I first visited Gorongosa in 1973 when I was a student at UCT. We drove up from Cape Town in a VW Beetle and camped. We did plenty of self drives and were amazed by the huge numbers of hippos. We saw lions in the Lion House. The war was raging so we were lucky to be there. I next visited in 2013. Fortunately we were still able to do self drives then. The game numbers were tiny compared with my visit in 1973. However, it was great to see the rebuilding work going on. The birding was excellent. Keep up the wonderful videos.
Which camera did you use inside the car filming yourself. Looks great
Amazing
Man, That's Brave. 🎉
My first trip to Mabua, I stayed at Mpayathutlwa overflow camp ( Lafeka). Had a pair of mating lions in the camp. By 8.30 I gave up and slept in the bakkie. Best sighting ever.
You mentioned Jubari is pretty special. How about doing a rig walkabout ?
Such sadness.. a loss like with Anton is more than a tragedy… it’s a senseless loss of human life . He dedicated his life to protecting the wildlife and sadly it cost him his life .. through organised crime .. a syndicate of evil beyond words . Anton’s life was priceless compared to a poacher and the head of the snake who pays these poachers . My respect and condolences to such a good man .. rest in peace Anton .. your service was not in vain . The fight continues and will always continue ! Excellent episode 🙏🏻
Wow that looks amazing. I’m currently in Africa just by myself. I came here in hope to cure my depression. What can I say, I am so lost in Africa, laying in my hotel room still depressed. Lol
Try meditation
Oh no, you have to get out into the wild spaces! That’s where the magic lies, not in hotel rooms! Sorry to hear you are struggling, I have constant battles with depression! 🥹
Chimanimani is amazing from both Countries, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Its new everyday even even to us who are born there. Thank you for sharing this wonderful vedio. ❤
Where’s the audio from ?
I know you're busy but where's the next one??
There will be a full explanation coming soon, but I am currently looking to employ three more editors to keep up with the work work, and Lost! Sorry for the delay!
My country 🇲🇿
Hey! We are a small beginner overland channel from Portugal and are planning a 12 day trip through Southern Africa. Between SA, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabue and Mozambique, what do you reckon is the best destination for this trip on a rented 4x4 in any of these countries? Seen all your videos but can't decide on one to rule them... Could you give us some input? Cheers
The okavango is my favorite place on the planet! So i would spend all 12 days around there! Moremi Khwai Savuti!
Hi Tim, I just discovered your channel yesterday and am loving your Lost in Kruger series. Please can you tell me about your window mount setup you are using in this video. I've been looking for something similar but so far have only come across the Steadilens which you can't lock your camera in position.
Hey Tim, you’ve probably get asked this a lot but what kind of camera (and Camera car stand) are you using? Also, any way to support the channel besides the affiliate link?
Thanks for sharing. Gorongosa is very high on my bucket list. Did you go to Zinave?
Unfortunately not, I was meant to go just after this to film a leopard relocation, and they just never got back to me. Unfortunately they called as I got back into SA.
Goods bro
Thanks 🙏🏻
I'm a huge fan of your content Tim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep on showing us this beautiful continent and the nature conservation efforts of each region!!!! I'm learning a lot from your videos
Thank you! Trying to, have had to prioritize work a bit more recently, but have a beautiful new project in the works!
Thanks for all videos. Love them, I grew upp i Tanzania. Do you have a rescue bag that you just catch if something happens. Do you train for that situation eg fire?
Hi Paul, thank you! I don’t have a rescue bag, but fire extinguishers and first aid kit are always very easily accessible!
😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 😣 HELP ME! #SAVETHETREES AND #SAVEOURLIONS 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 #SAVELIONS #SAVETHELIONS #PROTECTLIONS #PROTECTTHELIONS #RESPECTLIONS #RESPECTTHELIONS 🇸🇬The island nation of #Singapore ( #Singapura ) derives its name from the Malay words #singa ( #lion ) and #pura ( #city ), which in turn is from the Sanskrit #siṃha (#सिंह) and pura (#पुर) . According to the Malay Annals, this name was given by a 13th-century Sumatran Malay prince named #SangNilaUtama, who, on alighting the island after a thunderstorm, spotted an auspicious beast on shore that his chief minister identified as an #Asiaticlion. Recent studies of Singapore indicate #lions have never lived there, unlike the tiger. Therefore, the animal seen by Sang Nila Utama would more likely have been a tiger, though it would be odd for them not to recognize one.🦁 🇸🇬 The Legend Of The 🌊 #MERLION 🦁
