Kate Mulgrew said that this was the hardest scene to film because of real life experiences with this.

Always find this heart-warming, especially when Janeway kisses Tuvok's head.

"I'm going away and I may not see you again." Tuvok felt that more than he heard it. This scene being set in the future speaks volumes of the bond between Tuvok and Janeway. This is a very beautiful and powerfully emotional scene (also her saying goodbye to Harry) in the greatest finale in Star Trek history.

The best series finale in the franchise. Great writing and acting, especially by Kate Mulgrew as Admiral and Captain Janeway. Lines like "I'm not talking about technology, I'm talking about people" and "I've been trying to get this crew home for so many years that I think I forgot how much loved being together and how loyal they were to you" were truly poignant. Love that Chakotay and Seven fell in love too.

It is sad because this is the original crew we followed. A new separate dimension is created when she goes back in time, but this one still exists.

That is not fully correct. This time line ceased to exist I think. Remember when Jordy was trying to stop Chekota? It was stated this timeline would no longer exist.

    • @Zeithri
      @Zeithri 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

If you think like that, you'll go crazy. Because the original crew is long since gone, and everyone's been following whatever timeline brought them home - but never the first one.

Or it according it could be a parallel timeline that decided to change the past, but could only affect another timeline.
So it’s an alternate timeline making it possible for the original timeline to progress. (Helped voyager return home early) .
Boom no messy paradoxes or closed loop timelines.

If it's not already posted, I'd love the clip where both Janeways are discussing strategy and the older Janeway takes a sip of coffee and says, "I don't know why I ever gave this up!"

What I like is that later is that Tuvok is able to summon his remaining cognitive faculties to get a message through.
He kept on saying he was deeply concerned to the orderlies and then to the doctor. He then gives star-dates to indicate he is speaking about the captain.
He was very concerned about the captain’s disappearance. The doctor remembers that it was an event where she was rescued. This got the doctor curious about the admiral’s sudden disappearance recently.
He wonders when she’s coming back.
Tuvok was now able to give the clues, since he could no longer cobble together coherent sentences. The doctor asked when the admiral was coming back and Tuvok shouted,”She’s *never* coming back!”
This led the doctor confront Barkley and when Barkley started to stutter the doctor realized the admiral was in danger.

Something the universe couldn't accept and why the timeline no longer exists. Harry Kim is always destined to be an Ensign for life.

Messed up thing is the books are supposed to originally have supplemanted the show, with stuff that happened in-between, but then, eventually it turns out its a parallel universe. In the final movie, Picard has that random guy as his new number 1, but in the books its Worf, and in Q & A, it's revealed that THAT universe is actually another one, seperate from the books, so by that knowledge, the movie/tv show/and books are all different universes.
However, in regards to this video specifically, in the books, Janeway dies after being assimilated by the Borg in the Alpha Quadrant, and Tuvok becomes the new head of Section 31, Chakotay is still alive, 7 of 9 becomes a civilian teacher at Starfleet, thats about it for the Voyager crew that I know of though, as for the others....well, Data eventually comes back alive, and Picard and Crusher have a son. Oh, and Wesley becomes a Traveler, which is somewhat mirrored in the beginning of the last TNG movie, when Picard see's Wesley in a uniform. In the books, he's not wearing that uniform because he's in Starfleet, he's wearing it because Picard let him wear it for Riker and Trois wedding, because Wesley arrived naked, thinking it was gonna be a traditional Betazoid Wedding, aka, all people will be naked.

Legit watching Voyager right now, when Tuvok loses his memory after being attacked by the xenophobic race, the Vaneth. Good god I love this show. Buy the dvds or download torrents while you can!

I wish they would make a show that continues the TNG/DS9/VOY universe that everyone knows and loves, instead of constantly rehashing it with different time periods and timelines etc. It was great how connected the shows were, felt like a universe you knew.

This is why Captn Janeway must return to take over Picard . Seven and Tuvok are already in uniform once again , and inevitably with the bonding that had happened with all of Voyager crew , justifies more than ever a return to action for Voyager .

Aa, the perils of predictive ageing. Tuvok here looks too young ( which I initially thought was pretty convincing)-but he’s the age ( about) that Captain Tuvok was in ‘Picard’.

Another one that had a lot of feeling was from this episode when she is at Chakotay's Grave, This scene, and that scene were always one of my favorites for just the level of emotion this show had. There are several like this throughout the show, but this one is definitely in the top three.
