- Traffic ticket? ALWAYS plead not guilty!
After pleading not guilty, you’ll be given a hearing date. Got to the hearing (you don’t need a lawyer) and, before it starts, ask to speak to the officer in the hallway.
If it’s a speeding ticket, offer to plead it down to 5 mph over the speed limit. If it’s for something else, like rolling at a stop sign or blowing a red light, offer to plead it down to disobedience of a traffic control device. Both carry fines, but neither carry points.

I was just pissed that he picked me because I was literally on the job in my company vehicle when he pulled me over, then I got nervous that I’d get fired 💀

@@gibbonslegalp.c.2941 we shouldn't allow it. I have 2 transcripts of hearings I had during the Pandemic which shows total bias by the ALJ while the officers phone in testimony had numerous discrepancies.

This is good advice. My lawyer has been doing the same for all my traffic tickets. I sightly disagree with the speeding ticket. First thing you should do is ask for the Radar calibration Certificate.

The first aim is to try to get the ticket dismissed. If that fails, the next step is to appeal for a lesser charge that doesn't come with points.
From my experience, it usually takes a few tries and some time to get them to agree to a lesser charge. It took my lawyer three attempts over five months. They don't usually accept a lesser charge on the first try.
Another strategy is to question the accuracy of the radar gun used. Most states require that radar guns be calibrated regularly. Calibration is usually done by a specific person in the police department, not the officers. Often, police departments neglect to calibrate their radar guns or can't provide calibration records, which can work to your advantage. So that should be your first line of attack.
I like to add that a lesser charge is not something they add from the kindness of their heart. It is their attempt to get collect on you without having you returning. So they do it to make you go away. That is why it normally doesn't work in the first attempt.

Depends on the state. In some states the cop can be held in contempt of court for not showing up.

They ABSOLUTELY show up! If they are doing radar , you are not the only ticket. The best defense is to try and get your date changed. Then there is a slim chance the cop won’t be there.

I got a ticket for FAILING TO YIELD THE RIGHT-OF-WAY TO A PEDESTRIAN while there were no pedestrians on the cross walk. They were standing on the sidewalk. I looked around and proceeded and the car in next lane proceeded with me but he chose me. I am going to see the DA. Not paying shit. Been driving for over 20 years and never got any ticket.
I got pulled over other day officer said i was doing 63 in a construction zone 55mph no speed limit sign until several miles dowm the road and he followed me 6min 4-5miles past where he said i was speeding wrote me a ticket for 6-10 over and impropper lane use. I have front and rear dash cam and audio of the stop. Officer at first asked me "do you have any weapons in the car? And if you tell me now things will go better for you" I then ask him is this a traffic stop or criminal investigation? He wrties me a ticket 1 speeding 5-10 (carries 2points) and other improper lane use (carries 2points)
I plan on pleading Deny Responsibility I already started gathering all my footage and notes.
Oh im in Michigan and this was on i75 in detroit at night by michigan state 🚔. I have a clean driving record not one ticket in over 10yrs and I drive for a living. Also I was going the same speed as all other cars next to me until the speed chagned to 70mph then i started going 63mph i kept slow cus the cop was behind me way before he said he got me speeding he actually had another car pulled over then jumped back in traffic and got behind me and followed me for 4-5miles then pulled me over and said i was speeding & swerving 5miles back.
All that being said I looked up a lot of things and its ok for a cop to follow you or not pull you over right away and they can still ticket you even if there is no speed limit signed posted. In Michigan if no sign is posted the speed is 55mph unless its a highway its 70mph in this case it was a highway construction zone at night so i was play it safe driving at a safe med speed.
I blew a couple of redlights back to back (they're less than a quarter of a block apart), because I thought some guys were gonna rob/carjack me if I stuck around. There happened to be an ambulance that went by, so when I turned the corner to try to get to a safe spot to call police, an officer pulled me over.
Stupid me told him I was fleeing from a possible robbery/carjacking against me and he said, "I don't care. It isn't an excuse." He didn't investigate or care. Three tickets. I was doing Uber/Lyft for extra money in a high crime city.
I got a ticket for "doing 70 in a 45" and he "graciously" dropped it to "60 in a 45." However, he stopped me adjacent to the 45 sign. The only person who might've been doing 60 was the person three cars ahead of me.
Not to mention the cop flashed his lights and started pulling out before I even reached him. He was clearly scanning the people in front of me, but he didn't want to chase the person who was actually doing 60 in a 45.

In the 1970s when the federal government told the states that if they didn't make 55 the maximum speed limit they wouldn't be getting federal highway funding, Montana made an Energy Ticket. If you were pulled over for driving 64 in a 55 the officer would write you a $5 ticket for wasting energy resources. It wasn't a moving violation and had no points.

How about asking to SEE the EVEDENCE
In NC you can also get a PJC. That's a prayer for judgement. With a PJC you get the citation sealed for 3 years and if you don't get another offense in that time it's thrown out as if it never happened. Check your state's laws because your state may have something similar.
Also, it's not the cop you want to talk to, it's the DA. By the time it gets to court the citation is the DA's responsibility. The DA is the one who can offer a lesser pleading. When it has reached the DA's office the issuing officer no longer has the authority to modify or fix the ticket.
After the 2 hearing and the d a tell you what up if you pleaded not guilty and wants to go to trial you. I spay the ticket instead?
NC and Virginia are horrible for traffic tickets there bored and give dumb tickets 24/7
@@FN-Corrupt NC normally doesn't stop you for speeding unless you're exceeding 10mph over. It's only certain jurisdictions like Wrightsville Beach who will ticket you for more than 5mph over. I live in NC and they are not as bad as you make them out to be. No one likes being ticketed but most of the tickets are the driver's own fault.

I got my third speeding ticket this year for going “”88” in a “70”. Everyone else was going just as fast and the cop was probably going a little faster just to pull me over.

I got pulled over by the cops and they are telling me that I was doing 73mph in a 50 mph lane. I simply don't believe that I was going that fast on the highway. I ended up pleading not guilty. The only proof that I have is that I don't see the technology on the ticket that the cop used to measure my speed. It is not on the traffic ticket that I have received. What can I do? Help

@@LoneWolfTrell Update: I used Winnit. I did have to pay for them to represent my case, but they will take care of the rest. The verdict has not been made regarding my ticket, but your best option is to definitely plead not guilty.

See our problem is when we go sign up for a license we give our rights away to follow the rules of the road so basically we already pleaded guilty just by signing the application aka a contract with the state

I took my antique out for a night drive. I was the only one on the road. So I opened her up to see how she sounded and right around the bend was a cop sitting in the ditch. I was radared going 91 in a 50. Cop was super nice and said he will not tow the car or arrest me but I must appear in court. I was thinking that I should plead no-contest, what are your thoughts? @@karolyanet6708 I just went with fingers crossed 🤞. Got 3 months supervision and $400 fine. Did not go on my record. As long as you have a clean record you should be ok but not an attorney and hopefully the judge is in a good mood.

or you could choose not to act like a lawyer, save yourself a lot of time and I'd they have a deferred disposition program that keeps the ticket off your record as long as you do a defensive driving course, just do that.

I just got a ticket for failure to yield to a traffic device. See there was a funeral procession going on which I was unaware of. The cop was there not blocking the intersection but because of that cop I couldn’t see that any cars were coming. And for the cars that were going before, my light was red. So when my light turned green for my left turn, I turned. The other cars that were a part of the procession were far away so I thankfully didn’t hit them.
I had my license suspended for a “medical”. I did everything they asked of me but did not pass the drivers test because I arrived late with a very nervous stomach and had to keep running back to the bathroom. The punishment is as bad as a DUI. I am physically and mentally fine and have a pristine driver’s record. WTH?

I received a ticket from a cop who did not witness the citation he gave me. Apparently, another cop and him were trying to catch people running a red light. The cop pulled out in front of me, and i pulled over. I am in Texas. I did not run the red light! He said I did, and I asked him what qualified running a red light? He said if the light turned red while my car was halfway in the intersection. Btw according to law, here that is wrong! Not only that, but the first thing he said was that the other cop got my on canera. How do I get that footage for my case? Because there is zero doubt, I ran that light. No sooner than I pulled out, they were getting someone else, so I took a picture. This is not lawful! Both camera footage should be beneficial to my case. I just got the ticket today, so I am trying to figure out the best way to handle this. If I just wait and show up in court on the date of the ticket, I am afraid I do not have evidence over the officers. Do I need to request open records after I head to the court but before my date on the ticket? I really beed a starting point. Thanks for any guidance in advance!

Plead not guilty, and take it to court. If issuing officer fails to appear, ask for the ticket to be automatically dismissed. If s/he does appear, ask to reduce it to a ticket with no points and small fine. Unless there was an accident, or cop just wants to puff out his chest, they’ll agree to a lesser charge almost every single time.

Hello, I'm new to Canada and often use TTC and York Region buses. One day, while riding the Viva Orange bus for the first time, I didn't realize I needed to punch my Presto card at the stops, as it's different from other buses where you punch it inside. HELP! I was pulled over in VA for failure to come to a complete stop at a red light before making a right turn. (Yes, it was a desolate road at night and I did fail to come to a complete stop when nothing was on the road.) If the citing officer didn't show, the court should have dismissed it right then and there. If the court instead rescheduled the hearing for another date, you'll have to go again. If the officer fails to show up again, ask the court to dismiss for lack of prosecution. If any officer other than the citing officer shows up, object to the officer's testimony for lack of personal knowledge (because he didn't witness the alleged traffic offense) and hearsay (because testimony would be based on something he read or someone told him). I was in an accident where a car driving down a turning lane hit me while i was doing a u turn and we were both ticketed. Him for illegal use of a lane because there was nowhere for him to make a left turn to and me for failure to yield but the officer that ticketed us told me upon arrival that we would have to wait for a sherrif because of the direction we were traveling. He said that he shouldn't have been dispatched but then still wrote the tickets. Is that enough to get the ticket dropped?

@@chevyj6476 the fee went from $40 to $20 so the price I have to pay is $277…. And traffic school. They only offered traffic school. There didn’t seem to be any leeway to dismiss my point.
